Playing Newcastle under Eddie Howe is almost always a really tough game to get 3pts from, but if we are going to be champions its a game where we have be brave and go for those 3pts from start to finish.

Mikels over cautious approach against Liverpool and City has raised a question mark about whether he has the mentality to take us that final step up from challengers to champions even amongst many fans who have previously backed him, hopefully his approach today will go a long way to easing people's concerns about him and his ability to see the excellent job he's done at Arsenal up to now to its ultimate conclusion.

I have no doubts about our excellent squad/ teams capability to win one or both of the big trophies on offer i just hope Arteta gets to the manager who leads us to them.

Wasn't he 10 years old or something when the club let him go?

Loads of kids who went on to become great players suffered rejection at some stage and equally loads of kid's who were retained throughout their childhood get released by clubs at 16 to 18 and end up drifting out of the game completely.

How did Newcastle allow Shearer to end up at Southampton and didn't Chelsea let Salah and KDB go when they were in their 20s?

Zlaten Ibrahimovic was arguably a bigger slip up Highbury mate. Admittedly it was pretty arrogant for a 17 year old to say " I don't do auditions " but he certainly backed up that arrogant attitude on the pitch over the next 20 years.

Apparently Zlaten was very happy to join us and willing to sign a contract but not do an audition before signing Highbury. Personally i'd say letting a 17 year old Ibrahimovic slip through our fingers was a much bigger mistake than allowing a 10 year old Harry Kane leave the club.

Not really - I had read that the amount we were offering Saliba had suprised Real and made them move on. It doesn’t mean that he’s unhappy or that he’s fully on board with Arteta but I’m sure the amount of money agreed has had a sway on both sides of the fence and its disingenuous to think it’s all about one of them ; money or his love of Everything Arteta but you can believe that if you wish. I read that Real had mov3 in because of the money.

G4E - thank you. At least I have an opinion, shared it over the years and guess what. A lot of it is being thrown at Arteta now - bottle job, tactics, in game management etc… I am very happy that he’s signed - yes, excellent news. But why throw in “the players must back Arteta, ” I am just saying the massive wage increase that Real couldn’t compete with will have had a say in it and why do we overpay on wages. Who else would pay Kai and Trossard what we did. We struggle to sell eg Zin. So we pay Kai the same wage as Isak! Is that competitive or stupid. This Pro-Arteta bandwagon is coming to an end. I guess you were one of those people who never thought Kai was any good but once Arteta overpaid for him - he’s better than slice bread because you have to agree with everything he does.
I am a novice and don’t know a lot but I have conviction. I have praised him, the players etc but I am critical. How about you think for yourself and share an
opinion., stay away from personal digs and post something sensible yourself.
It’s a banter site not a school yard. Very so often you pop up and have a dog saying I’m not a fan or know crap. Who knows, I might surprise you…
