Just wondering what the Eds views are on the Sesko situation/ rumours.
Been reading that he was close to signing then the fee was too high and I just read that his agent is asking for a Chelsea style contract of about 7/ 8 years and we are not prepared to offer that length of contract. Many thanks in advance.

Highburybill

{Ed014's Note - Hi HB, I don’t read anything in the press unless someone asks and then I’ll take a look.

I’m pretty sure a club will know all of that from the outset, what the fee is, what the player wants, not months down the line.

The press just love to play around with stories, literally knowing nothing.

How many stories have they made up already about Sesko and Gyokeres, countless and they’ll just continue.

1.) 23 Jun 2025 07:58:33
Cheers Ed??.

A lot of the news outlets saying we have reached a agreement with RBL for Sesko.

1.) 18 Jun 2025 16:10:39
Hey Ed, hope all is well. Constant chatter about Sesko or Gyokeres. Sesko sounds good and watching his highlights, looks promising however I've also seen his not so clinical moments and he does remind me a lot of Nunez at Liverpool. The fact neither are over the line for the sake of 5-15 mil in a position we so desperately need filling tells me neither are 100% convincing options. Especially when you compare them to the target we can't get Isak. My question is does the whispers of Julian Alvarez have any weight or is it just paper talk? For me personally, he's who I'd go above and beyond for. Would be an expensive complicated signing however one with minimal risk who is still only 25 years old. Thoughts.

{Ed014's Note - I would have liked Alvarez but apparently his wife didn’t like living in the UK.

There’s been constant chatter about strikers and until we buy one the merry go round of links will continue

According to one news outlet we have passed up on Sterling and Coman both.
If that's true then we go with what we got
COYG.

Highburybill

1.) 30 Aug 2024 19:56:56
Apparently we're back in talks for sterling.

2.) 30 Aug 2024 21:12:27
Apparently so Bristow mate.

3.) 30 Aug 2024 23:38:13
Taking their time ain't they haha.

23 Aug 2024 18:23:27
Fabio going back to Porto on loan
Surprised tbh.

Highburybill

1.) 23 Aug 2024 19:18:58
That came out of the blue HB!

2.) 23 Aug 2024 19:46:09
Yes it did Sally
Hope he returns to us, think there is a very good footballer in there somewhere.

3.) 23 Aug 2024 20:58:08
I think it's a great move, he needs to be playing to get his confidence back and couldn't ask for a better place than somewhere he's familiar.

He's barely going to play here to build any confidence or rhythm here.

Nwaneri may even have gone above him in terms of who would get any available minutes for a run out.

Hopefully it goes well for him.

4.) 24 Aug 2024 08:41:33
I agree, this is a win-win-win. He's getting regular game time at an age where it's make or break, he frees up space for Nwaneri, and he probably improves his stock if we choose to sell next year.

Hello everyone.
Would like to ask the Eds about our striking options.
Sesko, Osminhen, Rashford, Isak. Toney
They are main ones being linked.
If it came down to personal choice who would be their choice and why.
Have not seen hard anything of Sesko or Osimhen, so out of the other 3 my choice would be Isak
My thanks in advance.

Highburybill

{Ed002's Note - I have already answered about Osimhen and Sesko today.

Marcus Rashford (LW/F) Much will depend on what happens in the summer regarding a new coach, but I am sure Manchester United will be regretting the new long-term contract. A third-party has spoken to clubs, including Juventus and Arsenal about him on behalf of Manchester United, but I am not aware of any serious interest and both clubs have other targets. Spurs may offer a wildcard solution to replace Richarlison. Suggestion that he could be a Mbappe replacement at PSG seem far-fetched given they have other clear targets in mind.

Alexander Isak (S) Newcastle have no intention of selling Isak and will let Bruno Guimaraes be sold.

Ivan Toney (S) Brentford do not want to sell but are aware Toney may look to move up a step and will reluctantly look to perhaps £70M as a sale price in the summer - but will likely not get anything close to that. Newcastle, if they can sell their project to him, offer the chance of a return to the club who previously could find no use for him in the three years he was there - but that would only be in the most unlikely event they lose Isak. Arsenal, Leeds, Manchester United, Spurs, Chelsea and West Ham have all sent scouts on more than one occasion to watch him prior to his ban, but Chelsea and Spurs have preferred options meaning West Ham, Arsenal or Manchester United are likely best placed to complete a transfer. First choice for Arsenal.}

1.) 04 Jun 2024 13:09:42
Thanks Ed mate
In depth as always.

2.) 05 Jun 2024 13:15:29
Arsenal have moved on from Toney. Sesko is priority it seems.

{Ed002's Note - What if Sesko signs for one of the other interested sides?}

3.) 05 Jun 2024 22:10:32
Then we move onto the next option but there is no way he chooses Chelsea or UTD over Arsenal. Chelsea are a shambles of a club.

4.) 07 Jun 2024 10:30:08
Money talks mate if they offer more wages then arsenal he might join them.

5.) 07 Jun 2024 16:53:46
A shambles of a club? We took 2 years off to rebuild after the sanctions and sale of the club. Hopefully coming together now and looking forward to giving you lot a challenge next season. In peace.

6.) 08 Jun 2024 21:40:51
Chelsea have quickly turned in Tottenham unless they get their act together and get world class manager they ain't winning anything.

7.) 09 Jun 2024 08:16:02
Ed002 is sesko going to chelsea then? And what is stopping us doing the toney deal now? He has a year left and a deal should be pretty straightforward i would guess? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Benjamin Sesko (S/F) RBL could be offered a quick profit. His agent has not stopped offering the player around since his move to RBL. Described by a well known ex-Premier League player and high-end scout as "raw but improving". Was on the list for Spurs as a potential Kane replacement but their interest has moved on to another player that they are now pushing for. Newcastle enquired as they were concerned they will lose Isak - but continue to struggle to sell their project to players and will look to keep hold of Isak over Guimaraes. They can now be discounted. Borussia Dortmund offer a wildcard solution. Chelsea have spoken with his agent when they had a preferred option, do not discount them as he is now likely their first choice. Arsenal have met with his agent but he appears to only be second choice for them still. Milan offer an option as a potential Giroud replacement and they are looking at adding two strikers this coming summer, but they are resigned to not signing Sesko and are looking to another now. A option for Manchester United who need to replace Anthony Martial this summer - but Sesko will not move to simply be cover so that needs to be clarified. Does not want to move to Saudi Arabia but is on Michael Emenalo's list. The release clause will be be €65M until June 30 after which his cost will go up - but RBL want an answer before the Euros begin so they can secure their preferred replacement. Chelsea would look to a deal on the cusp of the year end with the fee not paid before July 1 unless they are pushed.

There is nothing stopping Arsenal making an offer for Toney.}

Got a question for Ed 14.
Apparently Cuesta our assistant manager is leaving to become manager of Parma (wish him good luck with that) . Do you think we will promote somebody from within the club or go outside.
Appreciation in advance.

Highburybill

{Ed014's Note - ahh that’s a shame, he’s been highly sought after for a while.

I don’t know if I’m honest on a replacement, I wouldn’t mind if he brought in Cazorla from outside.

Stuivenberg is really his first assistant so wouldn’t make in to difficult for Santi to fit in.

1.) 18 Jun 2025 15:36:37
Thanks for your inside Ed mate ??.

{Ed014's Note - ??

2.) 18 Jun 2025 19:11:22
Well either Bills Hannibal Lector or 14s an organ donor…. to be continued ?.

{Ed014's Note - I wasn’t going to mention the inside bit, thought best to pretend I hadn’t read it! ?

3.) 19 Jun 2025 17:45:12
Ed 14 and Jegooner just read what I put?????.

{Ed014's Note - thankfully I knew what you meant! ?

That is a tough tough start to the season.

Highburybill

1.) 18 Jun 2025 13:19:52
Yeah that's rough, but on the flip side the winter period and run in look fairly kind.

2.) 18 Jun 2025 13:36:39
Fair point Eden mate.

12 Jun 2025 16:49:47
Santi Cazorla at the age of 40 scores for his boyhood club in the La Liga play off final.
8 years after being told he should be glad that's his walking let alone playing football.
Take a bow Santi.
One of my favourite ever Arsenal players???.

Highburybill

1.) 12 Jun 2025 17:17:29
He was some player, Highbury. Wish we could unearth another gem in his mould.

2.) 12 Jun 2025 18:07:25
We can dream Sharpie mate, we can dream.

3.) 14 Jun 2025 11:05:12
I met him at a boot launch in London he is really the nicest of men spent time with everyone.

4.) 14 Jun 2025 22:44:23
Have you ever seen a better balanced and two footed player?

Enjoyed watching him play.

07 Jun 2025 21:04:03
Well if true that's the obligatory Chelsea signing out of the way.

Highburybill

1.) 07 Jun 2025 21:47:03
I'd take Cole Palmer off them Highbury mate.

2.) 07 Jun 2025 21:50:38
I actually don’t mind this one. Not a bad back up GK at all and £5m is a steal.

3.) 07 Jun 2025 23:36:30
Seems like a great deal to me, we're not going to get any semi decent back up keeper for that price. He was the 8th best keeper in terms of save percentage last year, only a bit lower than Raya, he will be very capable back up if needed.

I wouldn't be surprised if we flipped him in a year, he's only available for 5 mil because of the release clause.

He's not on crazy wages, only 75k after taking a 50% pay cut to extend his contract, so Chelsea didn't lose him for free, but with the 5 mil release clause. Seems like a no brainer.

4.) 08 Jun 2025 10:29:03
I'm happy with this and of course he has bags of experience to share with Raya.

5.) 08 Jun 2025 20:38:01
Not a disaster at 5m and 75k wage. Best of all: Leaves plenty money for other key positions.

Not great if on 150k wage which I thought I read somewhere.

Clearly a decent keeper and good cover.

Let’s now get a new frontline LW, 2 Strikers and RW cover. Reading that Nwaneri will be much needed competition for Ode. Thank god as he needs competition and rest. We need a scary bench with proper options to help us make winning changes.

Checkout Max Dowmans goal for England U17 today
Sublime.

Highburybill

1.) 26 May 2025 21:54:00
Max has looked an unbelievable player for last couple of seasons. The youth talent we've got, mix it with spending wisely on young but experienced players, and it should be fantastic. The talent we've had come through should in theory save lot of money to spend in areas needed.
Season over, let's all take time out, refresh and Get ready 4 hopefully a more improved season.
Have fantastic summer every single one on this brilliant site.

2.) 27 May 2025 09:01:07
He’s a good player just need to learn to pass the ball once in a while.

3.) 27 May 2025 11:31:45
Nice bit of skill, confidence and finish ?.
