“ “Bournemouth's stats, even though they've only won nine games before the game against Arsenal.
When they're pressing, they're decent and if they're winning, they can pick you off, right? That's one of their strengths. So if you're Bournemouth, you're pressing, and Arsenal are going long for the first 10 or 15 minutes, I'm talking about 90 minutes, a bit of Bournemouth's going, I thought we were going to be able to pin them in, no, we're running back to our own goal.
So you flip it back and Bournemouth's going, no, we're the ones pressing you today, we're not going to do the do-er-on. So that's where the experience comes, even Rice, when the keepers, in the first few minutes, I saw the keeper putting his foot in the ball and was kind of going backwards with it, you'd be like, cut that crap out.

We're the home team, we're asked to run about leads, start them quickly, let's get it forward, we press them.
And then when the game settles down, we pick them off, because Bournemouth won't be able to press for, no team can press for 90 minutes, and we'd bide our time to pick[…]”

Everyone sees it but the Boss.

Why won’t the players step in?

Why won’t the captain step up?

Why won’t the number 2 step up?

Wrighty Noah’s that Arteta manages every decision and movement. Funny because we argue about this and so many stick up for the boss….

Need a change in mentality, set up and attitude.

Get after City with a bit of discipline.

Hi Sy, hope all's good. Arteta's team talk just before going out to play Bournemouth should've been: We are the Arsenal, this is our house, we are 9 points clear. Now go out there and show them exactly why we are top of the league. Come on lads, let's go 12 clear.

VAMOS. (That obviously didn't happen) . And I totally agree, Sy, there needs to be a change in the mentality. We got to start taking it to teams, but we just look really toothless up front at the moment, and that's a massive concern. COYG/VTH. 🔴⚪️❤️

17 Apr 2026 15:07:54
Agreed & what's worse - it invites even more bloody pressure. I loved tbd story about the Invincibles nod in the tunnel that sparked fear into opponents. Kenyon speaks about Jose talking to the players making them 2 foot taller, knowing what the opponent will do & doing a sub 2 mins after theirs to counter it. He spoke about Fergie being a winner & getting rid of Keane / Becks. We lack all of that. We ( even if we win ) are weak.

Someone should have clobbered a Bournemouth player & said - not here son. This is my home. Grabbed Raya & said - nope, stop that.

Nice teams come second

Puts everything into perspective, Sally. RIP.

Absolutely tragic. What a run of 12 games he had in the 97/98 season when Seaman was injured. I distinctly remember the FA Cup qf replay against West Ham, down to 10 men when Dennis got sent off for smashing his elbow into Steve Lomas' face.

It ended 1-1, and we knocked them out on penalties, and Alex was absolutely awesome that night.
Thanks for the memories.
RIP. ❤️❤️

I think we seriously need to look at off-the-pitch management of players. The mentality has been lacking, seriously. Fitness is a big issue. Injuries have been a nightmare, and players are complaining about our home pitch quality. Most of our players will be involved in the World Cup, and I hope they stay injury-free and get the rest they need for next season.

The media are trying to do all they can to derail our fans and get Man City to win the league. We must not bow out to pressure; stay behind the team. We will be champions.

18 Apr 2026 10:02:57
Hi, G4E - are they complaining about the carpet? I know Vik, after a pathetic game where he could catch a cold, said the pitch was dry, but are they actually saying the pitch quality is poor? They should look at some FA Cup Semi-Final videos (Yep - you put it in a VCR, kids) at Villa Park before they moan. 😂 But, seriously, were they?

Not a chance. :)

{Ed025's Note - a draw would be a brilliant result imo mate..

16 Apr 2026 15:56:58
City will be expected to win at home. We will soak the pressure and get a goal from a set piece or counter.

16 Apr 2026 16:41:46
Of course, we will win on the weekend. This is mind games at its best, keeping the game entertaining. You watch, end of season, we will be champions.

16 Apr 2026 17:19:32
The way I look at it, Mikel has got this far with these tactics, so he ain't going to change now.
It's not pretty, that's for sure.
If we lose and they win their game in hand and we are level, it will be tight.
Looking at it, I think it's fair to say City have the harder run-in, with 2 tricky away games against Everton and Bournemouth, who are both in with a chance of European football.
They also have Brentford, Palace and Villa at home. Brentford are pushing for European football, as are Villa. Palace are safe, so they will have their eyes on the European Conference Cup, assuming they are still in it.

After City, we have 2 home games on the trot against Newcastle and Fulham, which we need to win against two teams that are safe from relegation and have no chance of European football.
Then a real toughie away against West Ham, who will be fighting tooth and nail for points.
Then comes Burnley, who in all probability will be relegated, and lastly Palace, who are relatively safe and still could be in Europe.
So there is room for twists and turns yet.

16 Apr 2026 19:26:43
Definitely, there will be twists and turns, but winning on Sunday will get the engravers sorting new letters for the end of season.

16 Apr 2026 20:41:10
Our last home game should have been a banker.

16 Apr 2026 20:51:48
It will be SY! The guard of honour!

16 Apr 2026 08:22:11
Well we got through but we really stunk the place out! Last night proves to me that we have to play Kai up front instead of Victor. He may not be the long term answer but he does things that Victor is not capable of.

He is much better at holding the ball up and is far superior in the air and we just look much more fluid with him up top. Finally we must hope Timber and Saka are ready to go on Sunday or it could be a very long 90 mins!

Before his injury nightmare, Santi Cazorla was playing in my opinion the best football of his life as a central midfielder. Something that has stuck with me is Wenger describing him at the time as our "technical security". For me it meant that however tough spot he was in, you could play the ball to him and he would be able to spin away from his marker and play the ball forward, crucially retaining possession.

I don't see enough of technical security in this team currently. Against Bournemouth we play Gyokeres, Madueke, Martinelli, Rice and Havertz.

I'dn't be comfortable seeing any of these players receiving the ball in a congested midfield.

Odegaard can do that when he's fit. Eze helps a bit (at least compared to Havertz) but still loses the ball a bit too often. Saka and Trossard are an upgrade over Madueke and Martinelli. I hope we get a few more of these players back for the City game. If not, I'd put Havertz up front since he's better suited to the current long ball strategy we're using.

Job done.

Next up - title deciding 90 mins!

Thought Vik was so poor tonight that I’d drop him for Kai or Jesus. That’s how poor he was. Couldn’t keep the ball or capitalise with half a chance.

Noni - looks terrible, frightened and clueless when taking on defenders. What’s happened to him? Such poor decision making.

Eze - bit better today but we just don’t get the ball to him fast or often enough, plus he drops way too deep.

Raya - stop messing around at the back.

Saliba - please stop rolling the ball and delaying. Move it quicker please. Between you and Raya, you are really adding more pressure onto us.

Lack of fullbacks - we really need a proper fullback (s) to offer better defending, width and attack. We used to have Cole; now we have centre back. Same on RHS where we miss Timber.

Moments of improvement but another painful watch. An easy quarter final sees us in another semi. Well done but tough watch.

Morning Sy, hope all's good. I honestly don't know why we signed Noni. Should've kept our powder dry on that one, and should not have loaned out Ethan & told him he would get games, which he would have.

In my humble opinion, Ethan is miles better than Noni and can play multiple positions, and definitely has a goal or two in him. If we let him go at the end of the season, we will be making a huge, huge mistake. COYG.

16 Apr 2026 20:59:10
Hi, hope you are good. I'm hoping Noni, Eze and Vik all step up, as they have all been underwhelming this season, but not helped by our style. Noni is a good back up to Saka, who is far better than him, but he's even suffering from our style of play under Mikel.

The scary thing was seeing Noni open his legs & sprint, have space to run into, but only to stop in his tracks to pass backwards.

Another, just running out of the pitch. Another, having a clear option to go wide, but to instead cut inside into 3 defenders. He's not helped by us refusing to have proper fullbacks do no width there. Again, displayed the other night when we needed an overlap, but we stood still & passed sideways again.

He makes Martinelli look smart. That's saying something. 😂

15 Apr 2026 22:00:07
That was painful to watch.

Was we playing tonight, mate.
Didn't realise.

15 Apr 2026 22:32:53
Agreed, but on the positive side, we are in the semi finals for two consecutive seasons. Didn't have to play extra time, and we kept a clean sheet.
I have a feeling that, from the next game onwards, we will be a different team.

15 Apr 2026 19:23:01
COYG! Bit of pace up front and a statement game needed. Hopefully Eze stays forward. 4 CBs as normal….

Raya; Mosquera, Saliba, Gabriel, Hincapie; Zubimendi, Rice, Eze; Madueke, Martinelli, Gyokeres.

Subs: Kepa, Setford, White, Salmon, Lewis-Skelly, Norgaard, Dudziak, Dowman, Trossard, Jesus, Havertz.

Let’s get them and get some momentum for the City game.
