I've been pondering if we lose out on both fronts this year.
I know there has been lots of talk of Arteta out if this happens but would that really be the answer?

After watching the antics of Simeone this week - no thanks!
Would just a few tweaks be enough for him to keep his job? Or would top players not be interested to come to Arsenal if he remains as our guy?
Would any of the top managers do any better with our current squad?

If for example we had a Haaland I think things would be very different.

I think too much lol.

Hello Sally, if that happens, there would be a massive Arteta out campaign, and I think that's justifiable, but my gut feeling is that Stan & Josh will keep with him. Let's hope we win one of them this season, or hopefully both.
Take care, Sally.

We need to move past Arteta.

Get someone who is a winner, like Fergie was. Jose was. Wenger was.

He doesn't sign the players, doesn't have the tactics, doesn't play the style of football required.

I'd replace him even if he wins the league, as City won't be this bad again.

Listen to Yaya or Kenyon talk on High Performance. Come back & tell me how different that mentality is to ours.

For me, the best result is: win the league & replace.

It's not mad. It's just a mentality thing. No one who is a winner signs Vik or Kai or Jesus or Noni, or plays 5 CBS, plus has Ode in back 4, plus the other two midfielders. Bottle job.

Hopefully no one says I'm on the fence - needed a striker, a LB and LW - still need them. Need a proper captain - still need one. Need someone on the bench with done nutz - still needed. Good thing is, we have a dog called Win.

Yep! Win the league and sack him because he's not a winner. 🤷‍♂️ Sure, it's just me, but fecking hell, this page is no fun anymore! Have I missed something, or are we not in there pitching for the two big titles? Jeez. COYG.

How's he been playing, Sussex?

Why's it no fun?

City cannot be as bad as they were up to Xmas again. We will need to up our game. We should be miles ahead of them, but we've chucked away an immense lead which we will be lucky to have again.

Do you really think we've demonstrated great football and a winning mentality since Dec?

It's just my opinion - it's not gospel.

It's been pretty consistent for years with him. He's shown nothing to change my mind.

Educate me, bud, without making it personal - without saying he's taken us forward, who would replace him? Trust the process. We've thrown .8Bn at him plus huge wages, plus given him time.

Gabriel Jesus was signed from Manchester City in the summer of 2022, shortly after us having come 5th in the league, by 23 points - it was a bit of a coup for Arsenal at the time, though, as most people are aware, Arteta isnt and wasnt head of recruitment.

I applaud the club for building a squad where he is in such obvious need of upgrade.

To answer your question, Sally:

I think he's done well enough to keep his job regardless, the consistency is impressive.
However, from the perspective of the psychology of the team, if we finish empty handed again, a change of coach might be required to break the mental pattern of expecting to fall short.

Unless you're Jose Mourinho, the football is awful to watch. But, like Sussex says, if he wins he's probably a winner, and I doubt we'd be parting ways if we win a trophy.

02 May 2026 10:56:25
He may well win, but is he a winner with that winner mentality, or did he do a great job but benefit from a poor City season? I personally don't see him as a cold winner like some of the elite. Otherwise, we would address issues, adapt to situations, and play differently. It's just an opinion, but that's where I'm coming from - if we are to win in Europe & EPL against the top, top teams - those are the differences, and we didn't add enough quality or numbers to the starting 11.

A striker should have been signed. A proper attack-minded winger for the left. Proper quality that changes games and frees the one special player who has it.

When we lost to Bournemouth I was Arteta out because I was angry, I've calmed down and want my team to win and we are doing that. 3 points is 3 points, doesn't matter how you get them, points they all count. Arteta has done what no other Arsenal manager has done and that's back to back cl semi finals. If he wins the pl I'm happy to keep. If he wins both he is our most successful manager of all time, even if he jus wins the cl he's done something Wenger could never do! Personally, with SY, he has an issue with Arteta and if he won the quad he would find something to have a dig at him! It's not great football, but if you said to me, okay s*** football and win the title I'd have bitten your hand off.

If we do win the title on the trophy it will say WINNERS, not winners but played s*** football. The same Arteta out crowd would prob want Fabregas to take over. I'm backing my manager even tho I had a slight wobble, but I'm backing him now and until he's gone. COYG get behind the team and leave the agendas at the door.

It's not personal - I actually like him and his love for the club.

I want a winning mentality and a bit more ruthlessness at the club. Winners puck holes in victories because they need to get better. It's the same everywhere, Dublin. Wenger won the league & upgraded his team each year - same as Fergie.

I still want us to win. I just think we need an upgrade. Simple. The counter argument is we keep coming second & the rose spec section say one more year as it's better than we were 5 years ago.

Not sure he'll eclipse Wenger either and I'm sure Wenger would do a load better with the resources Mikel has.

For me it would be greatly disappointing not to win anything this season, but getting rid of Arteta is not the solution. I think we should be looking at the window strongly, and now with Berta on board I'm sure we should be getting the signings we need.

Edu was a fraud and got caught out at Forest too. We have consistently improved for the past few seasons. Next season I'm hoping to see a beast of a team. You say watch Man City improve next season. I say f*** City, watch us next season. I hope we get our business done early.

Nobody said it was going to be. Let's stay behind the team these last few games, and who knows, we might just make it and get that monkey off our back.

Some of you saying sack him even if he wins, don't understand what an achievement that is. I say if he wins, either build a statue of him.

People saying managers like Fergie, who took 3 years to win anything (FA Cup) , Arteta done it in his first. Prem League took Fergie 7 years. We are on the verge of something very special, don't sack the very person who is getting us here.

We will be champions and for a very long time to come. Trust the process. Come on you Gunners.

SirWenger, do you really think Arteta doesn't have a say in the positions, mentality, attitude, names & players he signs? He's a control freak. Come on.

I'm right behind the club and the boys & want us to win. Need the manager to show up and get us going. His tactics (lack of) have made this way harder than it ever should have been.

02 May 2026 17:02:33
You could also say the manager is the reason where we are today. If he wins the Champions League, he eclipses Wenger and those are facts. Wenger
Had 20 plus years to win it. If Arteta wins it he's taken 6/7, he will be Arsenal's greatest ever manager, and I'm sorry I doubted him. In Arteta we trust.

Look what Chelsea did with Ranieri - popular, improving the team - 2nd in the league & strong in the Champions League. But Kenyon identified he wasn't a winner & brought in Jose. There was no fear, and he wanted the correct winning mentality. How did that work out for them?

0

02 May 2026 17:20:30
Look at them now.

0

02 May 2026 18:34:06
I'm on about the decisive change and it worked. Where's Kenyon now? Not there. And it was his winning attitude & he left as he'd had enough and wanted a new challenge. So that's 200% irrelevant, mate. He drove the decisive change & it 1000% worked.

0

02 May 2026 18:35:55
I'm not arguing that Arteta didn't improve us. I'm just saying his mentality is not what I want.

0

03 May 2026 08:28:41
His mentality is win at all costs. Unfortunately, this season that has meant the ugly way. He has tried the all guns blazing approach and came second. Football is no longer about getting the ball in the net. It's about playing to your strengths, and he has certainly done that. You could hear it in his interviews last season. He was also wanting better players in the key positions we have all identified. That's his job, the players the club bring in, that's Berta now and Edu before that.

Let's find the correct people to blame. Personally, for me, we need to improve the back office people. The people that are there to maintain the fitness of the players, the nutrition of the players, the mentality of the players. Ferries bought in a whitch dr to give them the edge one season. We can't just blame the people we see. What a game last night, what a performance. Many more of them to come, hopefully. Let's stay behind the team, trust the process.

You'd take a draw, but the same old record is player and we have said it for weeks now, as Highbury said we are toothless but we have the home leg to come, so hope remains.

What I will say is going on the 2 semis, God help us if we get to the final.

30 Apr 2026 07:55:51
There's always hope, Banbury mate, until there's not, but we will be gobbled up in the final if we make it. We can almost feel the pressure the team is under. We have to win something to break the shackles. Here's to the hope, COYG.

Good morning, Banbury and Highbury, hope you are both safe and well.
Thought we coped well, tbh.
Ref well and truly bottled it. Still think we will through.
Talk care, everyone.

All well, Bill mate, just wondering if I will be able to wear my new Arsenal shirt to a parade. 😀

01 May 2026 09:23:55
Glad to hear you're good and the new shirt is ready and waiting. I think we will win one of them, but in true Arsenal fashion we won't do it the easy way.

It's a miracle where we are in the CL and PL, we look bang average, toothless and void of ideas.

I am going for a 2-0 score line tonight, just not sure which team will score the two goals 😀.

‘I love Odegaard, I think he’s brilliant. Technically, he’s great, but he doesn’t play his position properly.
‘Half the time I saw him in the first 20 minutes he was almost the deepest man.
‘That football, it’s just bulls***.’
‘Whether they’ve been told that or not, Odegaard is a No.10, Odegaard connects your midfield to your forward play.

‘You wonder why there’s no flow in your team when he’s behind Martin Zubimendi, he’s behind Declan Rice. How can you get connections there?

Does Ode, Arteta, leadership, backroom staff not see the obvious?

Let’s address this and grab hold of the prize we deserve.

COYG.
