Didn't we just win away at Man Utd? Surely that's a positive start to the season? So much negativity on lots of Arsenal sites. ?.

Hi Sally, I think it’s possible to be positive about the win but still critical of the way we played. The two aren’t mutually exclusive. And let’s be honest: that wasn’t even a good performance, let alone a great one.
We were slow, we were sloppy, and we were second best for most of the game. Without a couple of world-class saves from Raya, and some poor finishing from their forwards, we’d have lost that match.
Gyokeres was isolated and barely involved, Saka had a poor game, Rice (aside from his corner) struggled, and Martinelli was just okay. Weirdly enough, we actually showed more gumption once Kai came on. Also on the plus side, Ode looked close to his silky best.
But the bigger issue is our in-game tactics. Or lack of them actually. We could all see the huge space Calafiori was leaving at right back. His forward runs may work against some teams, but they definitely weren't working yesterday. It should have been addressed. So yes, I'm absolutely ecstatic about the win. The performance? Not so much.

Totally agree Sharpie which makes me think your account has been hacked ;) Also I think Martinelli spends most of his time (because he`s told to) covering the space both MLS and Fury vacate. Seems daft using an inverted full back to add to attack while blunting an attacker. As you say against certain teams do it - probably not OT in first game of season but we got 3 points so what do I know COYG.

Hi sally 3 points in the bag?? sorry sharpie. I had not really read down the page and was replying to bills post. but yes mate we both picked up on pretty much the same. 3points (excellent) but performance… much more improvement needed a. s. a. p. (we have the squad) . and to come away from Old Trafford with the points in the bag. on the back of the performance. if someone said to me before kick off we would struggle but nick a 1-0. I’d have took it. o wards and upwards my fellow gunners. ?⚪️❤️.

Sus, I'm not sure if I should be concerned about you agreeing with me. That in itself is troubling. Of all the people to agree with me, why did it have to be the rolecks peddling chap?
O. S. I'm sure if my account was hacked, the hacker would have more interesting things to say than I do.

Hi Gabi, absolutely happy to have come away with all 3 points. I'm both tickled and slightly concerned that there are utd fans out there that feel the better team lost. They aren't wrong. We definitely need to pull up our socks. I feel that this season is going to be more difficult than the last two. Teams like City and Liverpool have strengthened. Chelsea looked decent in preseason.

I watched the city v wolves game. and although city had a couple of scares, I thought they looked slick, cohesive and quite menacing in their attacking play. once they got the first goal they really went to town on wolves and could quite easily have put a few more past them.

Me agreeing with you Sharpie you should be afraid very afraid. That said I am branching out and have some beautiful Tig Hewers and Tissoto`s going very reasonably as well as the Rollecks #football`sbackspecialoffers COYG.
