Hello ed02. are we open to selling xhaka and partey? Has any clubs shown interest in either of these players?

gunner4lyf

{Ed002's Note - Thomas Partey (DM) Juventus have asked after his availability as he would be a cheap option to Teun Koopmeiners, Manuel Locatelli and Morten Hjulmand. Granit Xhaka (DM) Bayer leverkusen offer an option but Arsenal may wish to keep him rather than looking to add another DM after Declan Rice.}

Hello eds. are we looking at any left backs? Considering tierney might leave.

gunner4lyf

{Ed002's Note - Ferland Mendy (LB) Available - injury concerns. Arsenal offer an option.}

Thanks ed.

Hello ed02. any update on reiss nelson? Are we offering him a new contract?

gunner4lyf

{Ed002's Note - Reiss Nelson (RW) Seems to have little hope of a career at Arsenal and will likely leave as a Free Agent in the summer. There is interest from West Ham and possibly still Crystal Palace. I expect some interest from Germany and as a wildcard Lutz Pfannenstiel may ressurect prior interest from when he was at Hoffenheim and take him to St Louis City.}

Thanks ed.

Hello ed02. have we bid for trossard?

gunner4lyf

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure there is a bid on the table just yet.}

1.) 19 Jan 2023 18:15:03
Hi Ed,

Is this the end of Arsenal business for the window, or would you expect anything else to transpire?

Thanks!

{Ed002's Note - It would not be a surprise to see a sale.}

2.) 19 Jan 2023 21:46:53
Thanks Ed.

Hello ed02. any updates on reiss Nelson? Will he be integrated into the team this season or being sold?

gunner4lyf

{Ed002's Note - Reiss Nelson (RW/AM) May look to run down his contract next season. Arsenal don't have space for him in the first team but would like to extend and send him on loan again. Meanwhile they will look to add a winger which will push him further down the pecking order. Feyenoord would certainly take another loan. If he won't extend this summer, there will be opportunities.}

1.) 29 Jun 2022 07:41:00
Good Morning Ed002.

It looks like Chelsea have made a fast move to sign Raphinha. Please can you provide any info on other wide targets that we will now look to pursue instead?

Thank you sir.

{Ed002's Note - Ianis Stoica (RW/F) has been watched by scouts from Brighton, Crystal Palace Arsenal and PSV but FCSB have no interest in selling in the short-term unless a very significant offer were made. Not first choice for PSV who are looking for an upgrade on Doan. Arsenal are keen and see him as a Pepe replacement – but it is a huge step up.
Allan Saint-Maximin (LW/RW) Do not be surprised by a sale to help fund transfers. The decision is based on some attitude related issues and financial demands he is making. Although Aston Villa are interested, the wage demands may be too much for them. Everton provide a possibility if Lampard stays and has a clear out. Wolves provide a less likely option. Spurs and Arsenal may still maintain an interest.
Serge Gnabry (RW/LW) Seems to fail to settle at any club and is not open to signing a new contract without a significant increase in salary, and it is his very significant financial demands that are proving to be a problem. Barcelona have him on their list of options, but they are going to have to balance summer transfers carefully and his wage demands will be an issue - they can be discounted. The wages are less of a problem for Juventus where tax laws are beneficial. Real Madrid consider him an option to Mbappe as they look to shake up their wingers. Versatile enough to be considered a Martial replacement at Manchester United and on the list for Liverpool as a potential Salah replacement - but neither would want to break the bank for him and not being in the CL may well end any vague interest in the player joining MU. Has been offered to Chelsea and PSG by his agent, but both see the wage demands as far too high and have other priorities. A return to Arsenal does not make sense for the player, but there may be interest from the club.
Luis Sinisterra (LW) Bayer Leverkusen and Lazio have held discussions with Feyenoord about the availability of Sinisterra. Arsenal has a declared interest. Atletico Madrid have watched the player on several occasions.
Lucas Ocampos (LW) Arsenal may provide an option. Wolves were keen but opted for Chiquinho and the interest of West Ham is as an option to the likes of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to bolster the left side of their attack - but they need to focus on sorting out a striker and get away from the scattergun approach.
Moussa Diaby (LW/RW) Bayer Leverkusen were approached about the player by Borussia Dortmund last season but no more than that. They have no interest in selling unless a very significant offer of perhaps €80M were made. Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Real Madrid have sent scouts but each have other targets. A wildcard option may be a return to PSG. Newcastle are also interested but a move there would be a regression and I am sure being in the Champions League would be a consideration.
Noa Lang (LW/S/RW) was purchased for a €6.5M option from Ajax by Brugge last summer and was due to be sold on at auction. Brugge say there were no acceptable offers last summer, but with "most" English clubs having sent scouts to watch him, West Ham, Arsenal and Leeds have declared an interest. Borussia Muenchengladbach consider him an option if Marcus Thuram leaves - but they don't wish to sell. The player comes with serious baggage which is why Milan seem a little nervouse after showing a great deal of interest. I am not aware of any approach by Liverpool but they have had scouts watch Lang as he is doing well. Brugge will look for perhaps €30M in the summer.
Marco Asensio (RW/LW) Goals have largely dried up and his representative is working with a third-party agent to find a club willing to pay something like €40M for the player. The third party has said that the player ideally wants a club in the Champions League but the discussions he has had have been with Leicester City, Newcastle and Leeds so far, and admits knocking on the door of other PL clubs including Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Spurs. Player is almost certainly not open to moving to a side not in the Champions League. Milan and Juventus were approached but showed no interest, although Milan have since met directly with his representative to discuss price having stepped back from another target - although Ziyech is also in the mix for them. I suspect he might be seen as an option by Liverpool being able to play on either wing or in an AM role - and Liverpool have approached his reprentative. PSG provide a potential option. Real Madrid will be open to using him in a part exchange deal of some type but finding a buyer at the asking price might be difficult but will also perhaps try and do something with Dortmund. A new contract seems unlikely, but Madrid will not want him to run down his contract.}

Thank you Ed ??.

3.) 29 Jun 2022 11:32:05
Allan Saint-Maximin would be a very good alternative to Raphinha!

{Ed002's Note - He plays in a different position.}

4.) 29 Jun 2022 13:10:03
If he's a (LW/ RW) then he can effectively play either side? Certainly has the ability to play off the right regularly and could rotate in game with Saka, Martinelli, ESR who can all play on both wings.

5.) 29 Jun 2022 15:47:42
Thanks Ed for the detailed response.

I haven.

6.) 01 Jul 2022 20:34:15
I wonder if Saint-Maximum might be too much of a handful for Arteta?

7.) 01 Jul 2022 21:24:25
Asm come on guys, he’s just another Walcott as fast as a car with nothing else to offer other than pace it’s a big no no from me.

{Ed014's Note - agree mate

Arsenal has conceded the least number of goals from set pieces this season among epl clubs. well atleast that's what the commentator said in yesterday's match. i guess there is some sort of improvement defensively under emery. i really hope he gets the defenders he wants in the next window and maybe then we can see marked improvement! COYG.

1.) 10 Feb 2019 18:40:17
That's an interesting fact gunner4 and when you think about it then it sounds right too, now if we can just stop people walking through our middle and finding space on our flanks for fun we'd be back in business.
But when you think about it we don't seem to be conceding from corners as easily which is obviously a big plus.

2.) 10 Feb 2019 19:12:05
Interesting stat - I don’t feel any safer at corners and Leno terrifies me at corners with his erratic decision making. Think he’s terrible at crosses / corners while good with feet and shot stopping.

Thanks for making me think - my gut is to think we have given away less corners because of poor finishing by opponents Vs blocks / saves by our defenders but that sounds negative. That statement makes sense when I think how lucky we were against Huddersfirld and during our 22 match run. Given away plenty chances but more misses than saves / blocks do less corners.

Don’t want to be defensive of my position 😂.

3.) 10 Feb 2019 19:26:14
Haven't we conceded more goals overall though?
Which can only mean we are conceding more from open play than before Dick got here, hey ho back to the drawing board:-)

4.) 10 Feb 2019 19:33:36
Goals conceded per game - same ball part as last year and on target to be slightly worse 54 goals Vs 51 last season. So call that zero improvement and give him a little room as the new guy this season 10th most conceded Vs 13th last season.

Clean sheets - we are effectively second from bottom with just 4 clean sheets. Last season we were 6th best with 13 clean sheets. So gone backwards there

Second most conceded penalties - equal to last season

Goals scored - we will end up 5th now Utd have gotten rid of Jose. Last season we were 3rd top. Currently 4th with Spurs pipping us.

So looks like we will be slightly back on our attack and back on our defence if we continue as we are. Not great reading. But lots can change between now and game 38. We may actually get a set up that works and get organised while not stifling our creativity 🤞.

5.) 10 Feb 2019 19:51:54
Excellent info SY, so in the main it's all pretty similar with the odd tiny better/ worse bit thrown in here and there.
What was it David Cameron used to say back in 2010, once he'd already been elected of course :-)
" not being forced to take a pay cut is the new pay rise "

6.) 10 Feb 2019 19:57:24
Makes you wonder how we are closer to 4th than last year and more points so far than last year. Also makes you wonder how we have already more points against top 6 than last year and more away wins than last year. Maybe when Dick gets some improvement out of us we might get slightly better. Not doing bad though, seeing as though we have gone so far backwards.

7.) 10 Feb 2019 21:49:54
That's the thing Steve mate we haven't gone backwards or forwards we are pretty much the same as we have been for far too long.
Finish top 4 and I will be impressed but don't forget since Ole took over are united they have overcome an 8pt lead we had over them and moved ahead of us, our 4th place pace keeping is as much down to Jose as Dick in my opinion and the biggest difference between our postion now and last season is Uniteds terrible start to this season.

8.) 10 Feb 2019 22:17:44
Yes gunner, if we look for one, we can always find an excuse. Lol.

9.) 10 Feb 2019 22:53:32
Too much Steve? Sorry mate :-)
But Just between the two of us if we are comparing previous and present managers on then and now points won Ole's United would be top of the table and Spurs would be 4th 10 points ahead of us.
Personally I think it's just easier to go with what we see with our own eyes and be as honest as possible rather than use stats that we can all use or ignore to suit our personal feelings.
And for me watching our defence, it's not any more enjoyable viewing than it has been for a decade.

10.) 11 Feb 2019 06:05:03
62 - our defence and attack is less enjoyable to watch. Having a manager walk his technical area but do nothing about our set up - don’t enjoy that either. To be fair, there’s not a lot of joy at all. If the only way to improve is to extract all creativity - then the future is dull and boring.

The main difference is - we can’t keep a clean sheet to save our lives. That’s the difference and where we are worse.

To see Rambo and Ozil not utilised is crazy also.

11.) 11 Feb 2019 09:01:15
Ramsey is off so I understand not using him but to me a Mesut and Dick is like Pogba and Mourinho, if your going to make an example of your highest paid star player then you have to be more successful without him in the side than you are with him.
It didn't work out for Jose and so far it's not going great for Dick without Mesut.
If we were much more effective at the back by leaving Ozil out then there would be a case for not using him but at the moment We are no better without a Mesut defensively and less effective in attack so not playing him is achieving nothing.

12.) 10 Feb 2019 23:14:34
Gunner defence, attack, dick, ole, 22 game very lucky run, 9 games transformed by ole, poor defence (which must be bad, we've let in 2 more than utd to date) chelski letting in 6 at citeh, good form, bad form, ultimately adds up in the end to a total number of points at the end of the season.

13.) 11 Feb 2019 10:45:05
Very very true Steve mate, the final table never ever lies.
If you get more points than anyone else you are the best that season no questions no ifs buts maybes and whoever comes bottom is the worst and so on, wherever you finish tells the true story of your season no excuses for anyone.
For me personally I'd prefer 5th with a Defence that is credible than 4th with and a free for all shoot out simply because it gives us a chance of getting back to being where we all do or should ultimately want to be, 1st.
But if Dicks after you sir shot swapping style gets us 4th place then I will gladly say he's had a fantastic 1st season but will still feel that the outscoing rather than controlling games approach will never get us back to being truly competitive again, it didn't work for Arsene and I can't think of any previous champions ever that were weak at the back and I really don't think Dick will be the first to achieve it either not even in 22 years of trying if simply be patient.
That strategy is so basically flawed that very few waste their time even following it.

Emery has said there has been no contact from Arsenal. I think he is a better option than arteta or viera, both of whom are not experienced at handling big clubs! don't understand why arsenal isn't showing interest in emery.

Stupid, if we are not. Like benitez, a man who fits the arsenal bill.

Read a report that psg have offered wenger the GM role with tuchel as head coach. I remember ed02 saying wenger might work with tuchel soon. Am i getting close ed?

gunner4lyf

{Ed001's Note - yes PSG would love to get Wenger involved.}

1.) 27 Apr 2018 15:31:27
Would tuchel love to get Wenger involved?

{Ed001's Note - I would think so, it would make his job a bit easier as it gives someone else to protect him early doors while he finds his feet. Not sure it is a good combination though myself, Wenger is a bit too weak with egos and Tuchel struggled badly to cope with egos. Could be a complete disaster.}

2.) 27 Apr 2018 15:55:03
Psg manager/ coach would be a good call from us, me thinks.

3.) 27 Apr 2018 15:55:22
I bet Punani can think of a solution to the Tuchel Wenger dilemma:-)

4.) 27 Apr 2018 16:28:51
G62 don’t just don’t! We don’t want him going off on one telling us that we don’t understand football 😂 only joking punani 👍🏻.

5.) 27 Apr 2018 17:23:52
lol gunner mate, my solution would be for wenger to go to PSG and tuchel to come to Arsenal :-) .

On a serious note i doubt wenger will get along with tuchel because tuchel has an ego the size of planet jupiter.

6.) 27 Apr 2018 17:45:22
Hey Punani we've all got our favourites mate, I like Jennifer Aniston and Denise from East Enders while you like Tuchel and Nanglesman.
It's a case of whatever turns you on I guess mate :-)

7.) 27 Apr 2018 21:55:42
I am willing to teach you about football sanogo if you can handle it:-)

8.) 27 Apr 2018 21:56:58
Lol gunner mate how did you telephatically know that i have nagelsmann wallpaper in my room? :-D.

Get van dijk. sell ox. use chambers as cover for bellerin at rwb. even niles can be used in that position. Honestly ox dosnt look like he wants to be here.

gunner4lyf

1.) 10 Aug 2017 07:40:33
Ox is off I'm sure. I'm not certain about Chambers as he isn't mobile enough to cover for Bellerin and Maitland-Niles isn't good enough yet. Perhaps Reiss Nelson, if he has the defensive qualities needed?
