Fantastic result with a tiny sprinkling of first 11 players, a very healthy serving of second 11 players and a dash of third 11 players.
What a squad ????.

Alright 62, hope you're good mate. Completely agree, we have an abundance of 1st team players for a squad. n the cubs are worthy of spots too, Max was outstanding yet again he's something special that kid and a big shout out for Salmon as well, some potential the both of them have.
Love the way everyone's on the same Arsenal cheatsheet no difference when someone else comes in it's like for like.
What a team, what a club! ❤️?.

How did Vic play?
Great seeing Max score.
Just read "When Gyokeres struggled to settle in this side for large periods of last season, the generous argument in his favour was that Arsenal were not playing to his strengths.
On current evidence, it is hard to make a case for what those strengths would be. His touch is regularly incredibly poor and he cannot combine with team-mates in tight areas. Nor is he finding space in the box and providing those selfish striker qualities that would make up for other shortcomings.
When crosses came into the box, Gyokeres was either wrestling with a defender elsewhere or just not moving."
Was that harsh on him? Confidence must be rock bottom .

I thought Gyokeres was very poor, and that write-up is bang on and not harsh at all. That last sentence was clearly evident when Madueke attacked the byline and delivered a lovely cross which should have resulted in an easy tap-in. After, Madueke just stood there in disbelief, shaking his head. The video should be pretty easy to find online.
If Vik keeps playing like this I'd wager Arsenal will have serious internal discussions if Merino should be 2nd choice CF.

** To be fair, just saw a replay of that particular moment, and Vik did appear to hold his run as he would have clearly been offside. Credit to him there. Mea culpa.

Let's hope it's a one off and he finds his mojo as we need him and we all want him to do well - but if a worry.

I felt he was demotivated last night compared to last season. I imagine all the talk of Alvarez therefore becoming third choice hasn't helped. However he is paid handsomely and must shake any negativity and contribute. Not giving up on him yet COYG.

Makes me even happier we became champions despite our £12m centre forwards! Brilliant! Oh and we led trends last season by scoring from corners and now moved on by taking short corners and scoring from open play. Who knew? COYG

{Ed025's Note - love it SUSSEX..

Let's hope someone puts an arm around him & reminds him of his wage ?.

Max look sharp - lovely finish & balance. Messi-like but without all the diving around & holding his face.
16 Sep 2026 12:39:02
i think I know what you are saying Sy but he has the shirt ( at least 2nd choice) and does need to contribute. They aren't robots and I don't for one moment believe money is the be all and end all, and that an arm round him and reminding him of his wages is the solution.
Somehow though the bare minimum is effort and MA has to extract that - not easy i guess once you have essentially said you're not up to it and we are looking to replace you. COYG.

Hi Jeg mate, all good my end mate and i hope it's the same with you and yours mate ?
I'm not usually someone who gets over exited by youngsters before they've actually delivered at top level consistently over a sustained period but it really is difficult not to think Max is going to be one of those very rare 16 year olds who actually goes on to live up to the hype around them. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he's a regular starter in our Premier League and Champions league games by the time this season is over.
