For me the only thing Giroud lacks is pace.
If he had pace then he would be one of the most expensive players around.
Just look at his scoring record. You can't deny that it's pretty impressive for a guy that comes off the bench most of the time.

When Olly is first choice striker who doesn't moan about him?
When he misses his 3rd or 4th sitter who doesn't blame Arsene for not buying a proven goal scorer?
Olly is an asset as a plan B and an impact sub but regular first choice striker he's not consistent enough.

The stats say yes he is but the reality is he is a 15/ 16 premier league goal scorer if he starts 30 plus games of between 15 to 20.
Stats are an extremely unrealiable guide to anything because so often once you start questioning them they just don't stack up to reality.

I just don't see it. He's a big guy but doesn't dominate, he flicks a ball on because his first touch is poor, he has no movement or pace and misses easy chances. His plusses are good in the air in our box and he has the biggest quiff but that's it for me. He is a decent plan b but that's all.

17 Jul 2017 14:16:17
I think technically he is decent and I don't think his touch is as poor as you say. There will be a team out there who would fit giroud very well and I think in the right club he could get 20 plus goals in the EPL.

17 Jul 2017 14:56:50
Sano he couldn't get them with us, a team that creates more chances than most.

It's not that straight forward steve . I don't think we play to his strengths . To say the things you have said about him above apart from the pace steve is utter rubbish. He may not be at the elite level of player and I agree he isn't what will take us to where we want to go but he is a very good footballer and people are talking nonsense imo.

17 Jul 2017 16:00:42
I agree that in the right team that play to his strength consistently Olly could do very well especially as part of a 2 man strike force
It would be ironic if Olly and Theo teamed up at Everton and fired them to a 4th place finish just one point above us :-)
Would this page have a meltdown or what :-)
Many who are now calling for then to be sold would be up in arms that we let them go.
It's a funny old game.

Great logic in theory, but then if you apply the same too Mertesacker he would be one of the best 5 centre backs in the world with how well he does everything else, the problem is neither of them have that pace and so are good enough for a plan b at a club looking for top honours.

17 Jul 2017 16:37:07
I think we are all right on what we are saying, in other words, he's not good enough for arsenal or its system.

17 Jul 2017 16:58:50
So we agree then! Giroud can't run but he scores goals.
Wasn't hard was it? .

17 Jul 2017 17:05:06
giroud lacks pace and if theo had a brain and the feet and the skills of messi he would be a great. if merts could run 100metres in 5seconds less than his PB 18seconds he would be a world great. lol.

17 Jul 2017 17:58:25
Poldolski now there was a man who could score goals but I don't know if he could run or not as can't remember him ever trying to, he could have been faster than Usain Bolt but none of us will never know :-)
