just a quick question for anyone whom has mentioned Bergkamp for our next manager.
Do none of you expect us to be playing in Europe in the foreseeable future?
:o)

Don't worry about Denis mate he would simply time travel his way around.
The man could always create space and time out of nowhere :-)
He's not the right man for us just now but if he was to get the job I think he could very possibly lead us to the 2015/ 16 title ahead of Leicester in the future :-)

2.) 24 Apr 2018 14:45:43
Maybe not my favourite Arsenal player but most definatly the most classy and intelligent player we have had.

3.) 26 Apr 2018 13:51:22
Now i know why i wind you up over Wilshire, how can you say Berkamp is not your favourite, go wash your mouth out with soap!

If this is true surely it will force Arsene's hand?

Arsene Wenger could be set for a huge blow, with L'Equipe journalist Bruno Constant reporting that Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud has sustained a broken foot that will rule him out of action for three months.

I happen to believe Giroud is a good striker and only needed a fast clinical player next to him to look amazing, a Wrighty type running on to Giroud's knock downs would have been devastating to any team.

Let's hope we get a world class replacement in now and wish Giroud a speedy recovery in the meantime

What has happened to Bellerin?
He looked to have the potential to be world class a few years ago, this last year he has been dire.

Grew his hair.

2.) 04 May 2018 06:58:20
Bellerin cannot defend, he cannot tackle, his positional awareness as a defender is shocking. This is down to the combination of a lack of defensive coaching and the fact he was brought to Arsenal from Barcelona as a winger. The odd thing is that his final ball in the attacking areas is shocking. If we can get a reported fee of in excess of £35m, we should cash in and buy a FB/ B that can defend. Wenger did the same thing to Kieran Gibbs, who was a wide midfield player full of potential, until Wenger changed him into a FB that couldn't defend.
Reports that we intend bringing in a new defence, keeper and DM. We have signed Mavropanos who looks a fine prospect and given a new deal to Holding, who with proper defensive coaching has all the attributes to be a fine defender. We are currently after two more defenders; Papastathopoulos from Dortmundt and Freiburg defender Soyuncu. Reports that 2 FB's are being targeted to replace Bellerin and Monreal. This summer Mertesacker retires, Koscielny looks to be out for at least 6 months as a result of his chronic achilles problem finally giving way. Chambers and Mustafi are simply not good enough. So we may/ will retain: Holding, Mavrapanos and Koscielny and bring in a pair of FB's and 2 CB's, possibly a another experienced CB.

3.) 04 May 2018 08:03:46
He signed for Arsenal.

4.) 04 May 2018 13:09:15
He is terrible. Nothing but a speed merchant. can't defend, can't cross. why have him in the team? I would sell him even for 30 million.

5.) 04 May 2018 14:29:52
Who would pay 30 million for someone with no talent Punani?
Belerin is my tip to be next seasons Ox if we let him go in my opinion.

6.) 04 May 2018 15:04:42
I must confess i was one of the people who was happy we let Walcott move on, but on hindsight we should have kept him as a right back/ right wing back. Ok so he can't defend for toffee, but that's no different to Bellerin, but at least Walcott has some idea when going forward, which is definitely most different to Bellerin.

7.) 05 May 2018 09:34:25
I still think he would do ok at Barca. Less defending needed.

I would never have thought back in 1998 that I'd be here now waking up in the mornings hoping to read that Wenger had been sacked, such a sorry state of affairs, I said 5 or 6 years ago he should leave before he ruins his legacy.
On another note he's even managed to get Wilshire talking nonsense after a defeat.

Some of us have been doing it a few years now. It is like a recurring nightmare, it won't go away.

Question for everyone including ed's
I'm going to have to plead ignorance or just a complete lack of knowledge when asking this but, does anyone think that Henrikh Mkhitaryan can play the role Santi Cazorla played, and if so how well?
We never made a contingency after that first season when we were playing so well until Santi and the Coq got injured, then our form took a massive dip, and the season after that again we were playing some really good football again until Santi got his injury, I don't think we've been the same since.

JPSAGOONER

{Ed001's Note - doubt it, he doesn't have the workrate Cazorla had.}

1.) 30 Jan 2018 06:41:34
I have a suspicion that he is Ozil's replacement, not Santi's.

2.) 30 Jan 2018 09:14:24
imo no cazorla was a class above. hopefully stays orin returns as a coach.

3.) 30 Jan 2018 09:19:53
I would love Lanzini as Santi's replacement (Only because we can't have Coutinho lol) .

If we go all out for Lemar and actually manage to get him that's more than likely the end of Sanchez at Arsenal, so my question is how would you feel about that?

With Lacazete already done I'd be pretty happy to be honest, that could be a very good attack and with Ozil feeding balls from the middle of the park I would think it could actually be a lethal forward line.

1.) 09 Jul 2017 01:55:45
Gutted!

2.) 09 Jul 2017 08:40:48
Just to clarify, my perfect situation would be to have Lemar and Sanchez, it's just looking very unlikely.

3.) 09 Jul 2017 09:51:00
If he goes get mbappe in and Lemar that will soften the blow.

30 Jun 2017 21:55:31
Ozil has signed a new contract!
Unfortunately its only for his corporate box at the Emirates, but hey hopefully that is a good sign that he's staying.

Steve I only mean if it absolutely had to be an ex player.
My choice would be Alegri personally if not then Simione.

Agreed on Arteta as an option if it had to be an ex player, but I'm sick of seeing Tuchel's name mentioned for the job, there is absolutely zero chance of it happening now that we have Sven Mislintat and the fact he has a pretty bad reputation for being hugely disruptive.

Xhaka isn't anywhere close to decent, he's either invisible or a liability.

Yeah Wilfred beat me to it, pretty sure the next press conference will be Arsene telling everyone how he did all he could to get Lemar Van Dyk Seriously bla bla bla.

So you would field a player who makes the team worse out of sentiment for him?
Very strange rationale, Xhaka isn't good enough for us end of story.
I don't like the way he has been treated, but i support the club not a player.

In the interview Arsene actually says that was his job to arrange the contracts while he was manager, ironically that is one of the reasons we're in the state we are, his comfy club ruined the squad and took away the aggressive mentality we had.

I wouldn't have been able to say this just a few years ago but, Ramsey leaving isn't going to affect us either offensively or defensively, we have two better offensive players in Ozil and Miki at least one better defensively in Torreira plus Xhaka can fill in at a push, then we have Guendouzi and Ainsley Maitland-Niles coming through.
I read over the weekend that it was Sanheli that pulled the contract as one of his first orders of business once he took the new role after Ivan left, if true it would indicate to me that he's had a look at the squad and had a word with Dick and then just told Ramsey's team that they're overplayed their hand.
I'm happy with that.

I feel he needs someone with long flowing hair and a lovely set of legs, maybe someone like Guendouzi.

On a side note, I'd like to see Xhaka and Mustafi dropped, give the spots to Torreira and Mavropenos.
I can see them being regular starters with Papa and Guendouzi as they are both already better, why waste time.
