Any news on who is fit / suspended / injured for our first proper test this weekend.

Hoping for a defence of :
Bellerin, Holding, Sokratis, Kolasinac

Xhaka at leftback would be a disaster against Pool 🤞.

What will the starting line up be today?
If the Ed's could kindly put the line ups suggested on the teams section.

Interesting starting 11 and bench.

Arsenal: Leno, Bellerin, Holding, Mustafi, Monreal, Torreira, Xhaka, Mkhitaryan, Iwobi, Welbeck, Lacazette.

Subs: Papastathopoulos, Ramsey, Lichtsteiner, Aubameyang, Martinez, Guendouzi, Kolasinac.

Papa, PEA and Rambo benched

Big call by the gaffer - big 🏀 🏀 - with players needing to earn their spot. Plus you get an opportunity to shine and take it - you are rewarded.

Not sure why Papa is on the bench though - either fit or not.

Arsenal
Cech, Bellerin, Mustafi, Holding, Monreal, Torreira, Xhaka, Ozil, Ramsey, Aubameyang, Lacazette

No width and still Rambo & Ozil in the same side

Team selection should be interesting tonight.
I presume we will select squad players and those that didn't start v Everton, such as Leno, Lichtsteiner, Holding, Elneny, Guendouzi, Mkhitaryan (if fit) , Iwobi and Welbeck. That leaves 3 places to be filled by starters from the Everton match and possibly a youngster or two.

Taking a bit of a risk playing monreal tonight, is there really any need.

I'm looking forward to tonight's match and I am intriguied as to the line up. We already know that Leno is in line for his debut. I would expect Lichtsteiner to start and some squad players brought in. A wild guess would be:
Leno
Bellerin Mustafi Holding Lichtsteiner
Elneny Guendouzi
Mkhitaryan Ozil Iwobi
Welbeck

Unless Emery intends starting more of his regulars, despite playing Everton on Sunday.

Tony Adams was an awesome player, but has been a poor manager, coach and pundit. His latest outburst was a criticism of Emery's failure to start his 5 new signings and he considers Holding to be a fine young player who should be playing.
He has a point and I wonder what fellow Gooners think of the following side, including the new players and Holding:
Leno
Lichtsteiner Holding Sokratis Monreal
Torreira Xhaka
Guendouzi Ramsey Aubameyang
Lacazette

It doesn't make sense to sign Leno, an experienced keeper that can play out from the back for £19m and then continue to play Cech who is clearly uncomfortable playing out from the back. In respect of Lichtsteiner, he had a fine World Cup and Bellerin could learn so much from a defensive perspective from watching him play. Torreira looks to be our best DM by a mile and you could argue that he needed a longer rest after the World Cup, possibly a couple of matches, but 4 matches without starting seems excessive. Mustafi and Sokratis appear very similar and I am a fan of Holding, who admittedly needs more defensive coaching, which he may now be getting and match time.
Of the new signings the one I fail to understand most was signing Sokratis at the age of 30 for a reported £17.6m. He looks extremely similar to Mustafi and neither player possesses blistering recovery pace which is necessary when playing such a high line, which is so reminiscent of the line we played so unsuccessfully under Wenger. The result is that we have conceded 8 goals in 4 matches, including 2 against a Cardiff team that hadn't scored a single goal in the 3 matches they had played in this season's PL. I wish we would drop the line approx 10 yards further back, compressing the space between the defence and the keeper, making it far more difficult for opponents to get in behind the defence. The other point I have noted is that Guendouzi, a fine young prospect, not only looks like Elneny, but plays in a very similar situation fashion.
I know some of my comments are contentious, but I would appreciate constructive comments, opposed to critical comments of my points, made as a reflection of the first 4 competitive matches of Emery's reign as our manager.

I fail to understand why Ozil started, he is providing zero cover for Bellerin.
Take Ozil off and either:
Bring Torreira on and push Guendouzi to the right of the midfiled 3.
Or
Bring Lichtsteiner on at RB and play Bellerin on the right of the midfield 3.

Cech must clear long if a short pass isn't on.

How’s Torreira not starting again today?
He could be our key to success, been screaming out for a player like him for years yet we persist with that lump Xhaka!

3 points is a must today surely.
