Hey Ed002 I hope you're well? I'm sure you've said on many occasions that monreal will leave and that it's time for him to move on, but I read that we are "desperate for him to sign a new contract to avoid losing him for nothing" is this nonsense or has our stance changed, thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Yes my expectation is that Monreal will leave and certainly Real Sociedad are willing to take him on. I am not really hip to contract discussions and would need to ask, but unless Arsenal wish to keep him there is no impetus for him to sign a new deal if Arsenal want to then sell him at a profit. If Arsenal start looking to treat players in such a way, then it will become harder to recruit players.}

1.) 01 May 2019 14:50:43
Thanks for the info Ed 😊.

2.) 02 May 2019 08:13:54
There were reports at the end of last season that the club were looking to acquire a left back, so it comes as no surprise that we are still looking at left backs, such as Tagliafico at Ajax. As far as Monreal goes, he will be 34 in February and has always lacked the pace needed for a top modern full/ wing back. He can fill in at CB as we have seen, which is a plus.
With players leaving this summer, such as Cech and Ramsey, others underperforming, simply not good enough or do not fit into Emery's methods, I believe that with a limited budget, particularly if we fail to qualify for nest season's CL, we may have to retain certain players, even if they are not ideal. Amongst these may fall Monreal.
We clearly need a CB, a wide attacking player and a creative mdfield player. With the reported £40m budget, I cannot see more than 3 signings, hence Monreal may have to be retained, assuming he wants to stay.

Seri to Fulham seems like a massive coup for them!

18 Jun 2018 06:27:01
Good morning eds, any news on adil?

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of anything new.}

1.) 18 Jun 2018 09:08:41
OK thanks mate.

01 Feb 2018 23:42:15
all the info i have seem on the length of ozil, mikhi and aubas contracts seems to be 3 and a half years, is this right? it seems mad to only tie down your record signing and the player you have broken your wage structure for to reasonably short contracts, we will have to give them massive pay rises again in 2 years or risk going through the same thing as we have this year all over again. especially as ozil knows how to play it to a tee.

1.) 02 Feb 2018 01:32:51
I think age might have a factor they are all approaching 30 so makes sense.

2.) 02 Feb 2018 14:52:01
Clubs are giving shorter deals as the wages have risen to such high figures and in the cases of Ozil, Mkhitaryan and Aubameyang they will be entering their 30's during the term of their deals. The thing that makes no sense is the absurdly transfer fees paid for players that only have 3 and a half year deals. So Aubameyang will cost a combined total of around £87m in wages and transfer fee, for only 3 and a half years.

03 Jun 2017 22:56:57
"Juventus have agreed a deal with Arsenal to sign Wojciech Szczesny for €16m (£14m) . He is seen as the long-term heir to Gianluigi Buffon. (Sky in Italy) " interesting if true, i haven't seen much of him in italy anyone know if he's improved alot? if he has we need a replacement for cech in the not to distant future so that could be a mistake.

1.) 05 Jun 2017 01:00:01
Szczesny has improved massively at Roma and Ospina looks to be off. I reckon Wenger will try to keep Szczesny as understudy to Cech in the league and play him in Europe/ domestic comps, and look to replace Petr after the end of next season (just my guess) .

How did we lose to utd?

{Ed014's Note - god only knows mate as they are truly appalling

1.) 27 Dec 2021 22:07:47
It's going to take me years to get over it! ?.

{Ed014's Note - me too! ???

2.) 27 Dec 2021 22:12:05
Where is Joe Wilock? Is he injured or just not picked now days.

{Ed014's Note - I don’t know mate, he was good last season but hasn’t looked good at all this.

3.) 27 Dec 2021 22:31:54
We may have bought badly over the last few years Ed014 but in Wilock Iwobi and Walcot we got some crazy fees for players who couldn't cut it with us,

I wonder if Everton or Newcastle want Auba ???.

{Ed014's Note - we sure did mate and I’ve got everything crossed Newcastle do, they have a few quid burning a hole in their pocket!

4.) 27 Dec 2021 23:03:34
Yes mate, City bought badly for crazy fees to begin with so maybe Newcastle will offer us a fiver for Auba, we should pay for same day delivery if they do ?.

5.) 28 Dec 2021 03:52:19
It’ll take a certain kind of mercenary to sign for them in January. Pretty much nailed on for relegation. Then again, money talks and those flash cars don’t buy themselves!

6.) 28 Dec 2021 11:34:33
Like City they will have to attract solely with ridiculous wages until they have something to offer those with on field ambitions and medals, again Auba looks ideal for them.

7.) 28 Dec 2021 12:16:38
It’s in the papers today Newcastle want pea.

{Ed002's Note - Someone is teasing you.}

18 Dec 2021 21:21:28
Aubameyang has done us a favour, whatever his indiscretion may of been, we look a totally different side without him, so much more energy and incision, quite disappointing he wasn't dropped for footballing reasons quite a few games ago though, I'm pretty sure most people were calling for him to be dropped after offering nothing and missing sitters, then the team sheet would come out and he would still be picked, bizarre if this that been brewing for a while.

1.) 18 Dec 2021 22:27:08
Our win rate is 54% without Auba and 46% with, of that 46% I wonder how many he was a passenger rather than a contributer.

06 Nov 2021 13:23:40
Keep it respectable City! Don't get him sacked ?.

{Ed014's Note - Ed01 was just saying the same to me! ??

1.) 06 Nov 2021 13:36:07
?De gea already got to be man of the match, its a cricket score without him!

{Ed014's Note - he’s been MOTM for pretty much every game they’ve played!??

2.) 06 Nov 2021 13:43:56
For the last 7 or 8 years!

{Ed014's Note - 100%??

3.) 06 Nov 2021 14:03:57
It actually does look like they're trying really hardnot to score more! ? Pep also wants him to keep his job!

{Ed014's Note - think it’s safe to say the rest of the Premier league in its entirety want him to keep his job! ??

07 Oct 2021 12:42:34
There I was thinking the league had finally shown some morals and the Saudi consortium weren't deemed fit owners because of the human rights abuses, the lack of rights for women, the murder of jamal khashoggi etc, but turns out the big issue was piracy! Now that's sorted it's fine. Glad to see the league has its priorities in order. Disgusting.

1.) 07 Oct 2021 13:47:11
Unfortunately Eden mate football is a money money money business and when cash knocks on the door morality goes straight out of the window every single time.

Hopefully we will see a change in the future but at this moment in time £€$ are more important than people and human rights in virtually all industries across the world.

2.) 07 Oct 2021 18:19:32
Harry Kane off to Newcastle.

3.) 07 Oct 2021 20:25:58
Do you think they will try and steal Arteta as they prepare to compete?

4.) 07 Oct 2021 22:23:20
The moral issues aside I'm pleased for the Newcastle fans, they've had a tough time under Ashley.

I just hope they are patient and don't expect 50 years without a trophy sorted within a year or demand top 4 next season.

Mark Hughes showed at City simply having lots of money to spend alone doesn't bring success.

5.) 07 Oct 2021 23:20:52
The trophy cabinet at Blackburn: City, Leicester and Chelsea certainly looks better in the money years and I would say once Liverpool figured out how to spend wisely their fortunes changed. No guarantee but the more lottery tickets you buy the better the odds but you can still win with one ticket.

6.) 08 Oct 2021 14:30:53
If everything is as it seems then obviously Newcastle are likely to be up there challenging for top 4 in the not so distant future.

No disrespect to Steve Bruce but they will need someone who can with money build a squad capable of top 4, sorry Everton fans but enter stage right Rafa Benitez.

Newcastle fans already love him and although he never won a title at Liverpool they were top 4 regulars and European champions under him, and he looks tailor made to take Newcastle from nowhere to the champions league football before someone else comes in and trys to make them premier league champions.

Credit to willian
"Willian had two years left on his £240,000-a-week Arsenal contract but instead of staying at the Emirates or asking for a pay-off, he has decided to tear up his contract"
"not only is the 33 year old saving Arsenal 20.5 million he's also taking a 70% pay cut to rejoin his former club"
"the Brazilian accepts his move to Arsenal from Chelsea last summer has not worked out and he wishes everyone at the club the very best for the future"
Finally someone appreciating they aren't earning their wage, they don't feel they deserve a pay off and would rather play for less at the club they love, best wishes to him!

1.) 31 Aug 2021 07:37:04
Absolutely Eden mate, my philosophy has always been if you really don't enjoy where your working then jack it in and go somewhere else, what have you got to lose?

Willians mistake was jacking in a job where he was happy and enjoyed life for more money elsewhere, that's always a huge unnecessary gamble

Life's to short to waste it in a job that has that has a negative impact on your home life and happiness outside work.

I admire his decision immensely.

Got mixed feelings about it personally, it would be a great statement, that I hope does come off and hopefully he would be great, but if he's not really keen and will push for a move as soon as something he prefers comes up it could get nasty, but especially the rumoured 300k wages for a 21 year old straight off the bat seem like they might be a mistake, if he flops he will be hard to offload and if he's successful and we want him to sign an extension in 3 years we will have to offer 400k+ to even make it worth him considering it.

I'm surprised they pay crazy wages in Turkey, how do they afford them?

{Ed002's Note - They have tax advantages and direct sponsorship is allowed. Italy also have tax advantages over England and others.}

He had previously said this: "Imagine any Arsenal fan saying they don't think Lukaku is good enough he would walk into your team the fact that is he wouldn't go to yous as Arsenal are a spent force. " so he's not an arsenal fan.

{Ed047's Note - 100% not eden, just someone seeking some attention 🤷‍♂️

We could definitely of fielded a team. Spurs are missing their best players and are in poor form, so I have a feeling postponing it is going to work out in their favour more, we might have xhaka back! ?

The league statement didn't offer clarity it just opened it up to any team getting a postponement as long as C.V. is one of the reasons, stupid.

Well yeah, pepe should put us off paying crazy fees for someone again. I got 100 mil because that's what Chelsea paid, give or take, can't imagine they would let him go for much less after a few months? He's pushed to leave every club he's been at hasn't he? Odds are he would end up doing exactly the same thing again.
