Even after a good summer, i don't think we will have a great start to the season, we still have players injured and short of match fitness, we have no idea when pepe will start nor teirney, hope martenille will get some game time he looks good in and around the box, but i will just throw this oit there, i don't reacon emery will see the season out.

He's a lot more chance now than he had 2 weeks ago, I genuinely thought he might be gone before February but the fact that he's signed two defenders gives me hope he actually does know the defensive side of football does exist.
He's got a second fresh start in my opinion and I'm open to seeing what he does with it without carrying last seasons failings into this season.
Let's see what Sunday brings in his approach and tactics, hopefully we will all be happy with the result performance and discipline on display at St James Park Sunday.

Must be a reason why you don't think he'll see out the season Rick.
Martinelli, when we signed him I thought he'd go out on loan never to be seen again.
Been impressed with him pre season, hopefully we see more than the odd cup appearance from him.

You’ve changed your tune g62! Good to see a smidgen of optimism amongst us gooners although thankyou rick for bringing us back down. Don’t forget new signing always need bedding in aswell, I suppise you can expect Luiz to hit the ground running though as he knows this league as well as anyone.

I think we will struggle early on, our fixtures are not that easy we don't know when holdinding is back, we don't know when tierney will be fit, i'm not even sure when he last played so it will take him a while to adjust to the pace of the leauge, same with pepe and ceballos, i actually think martinelli will fit right in if picked, but with expectations of the fans with all our signings combinded with a poor start, the pressure will mount quickly, i see freddie taking over by christmas, i dint think emery has a style of play which effects the team, the high press is thrown about, but we do not play a high press, not that I've seen, listen i hope we do fantastic and get of to a flyer and are top by christmas, but my head still tells me newcastle will sit back defend and throw long balls at us and have every chance of a result, and if that happens then the mumblings will start in the stands.
{Ed025's Note - thats what we like rick, confidence in the team and manager, come on mate get a grip its the first game of the season and some great new players have come in, its a time for optimism and backing your team..

I can't wait for the season and 5o see how we get teams on the counter attack like the Henry day's I'm looking forward to it and think we will finish 3rd or 4th if the new players settle in if not we will sneak 4th on last day of the season David Luiz winning goal.

We should definitely see ourselves as 4th place favorites with everything we need at our disposal to finish above United and Chelsea this coming season and if we do that then we are moving forward.
No disrespect intended to anyone anywhere but if after our best transfer window ever we can't finish above this United and this Chelsea team then something is very very wrong somewhere at our club and it certainly isn't the boards fualt this time round.
Of course the pressure is on Emery to deliver but that's a good thing because it means we are acting like a big club again, if there is pressure on Ole why wouldn't there be pressure on Dick too when both clubs both sets of fans want exactly the same thing then it's only right both managers are judged equally.
