First off i'd say there's definitely 'some' (how much that is i don't know) unrest at Arsenal. Hopefully the eds can help but what's the root of all this? Is it disgruntled player(s) rocking the boat (rotten apples so to speak) ? Is it Wengers bad management? Are the board interfering? Is it the fans/ media getting in the ear of players/ the board?

Don't know how close to the club the Eds are but now the transfer merry-go-round is over would love an insight into what's going wrong?

{Ed002's Note - What you haven't said is how this "unrest" has manifested itself - so I don't know what you are talking about.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Ed, something happened last January and my money is in Sanchez p£ssing off some team members. Clearly there is unrest in the squad - can you share any insight?

{Ed002's Note - We know that Sanchez wants to leave Arsenal and the Arsenal failed to deal with the matter leaving them with an unhappy player. I am not aware of him doing anything in January to upset his teammates.}

In my opinion people Want it to be a Sanchez problem especially now he's made it cleae he's off asap because that keeps everything nice and cosy elsewhere.
If we had 11 problems like Sanchez last January we would have had a very different season and all would be looking much brighter than it is now.

{Ed025's Note - he certainly appears to be the scapegoat G62 well amongst the players anyway, its a difficult time at the emirates thats for sure but it is what it is and it does not necessarily mean that arsenal cant do some damage this season, there are still some fine players in the squad and now its time for the supporters to get behind the team and show them some love, this is still one of the biggest clubs in the game and its time to step up to the mark for the fans and staff alike, so come on gooners show your class..

Ed002 - Perhaps its the constant flapping of arms, rolling of head, and pointing of fingers when he runs into yet another a blind alley?

UC 25 goals 14 assists, the only player that every team in the top six, the fans of other teams would have. Scored at a similar rate to wrighty and Henry, what do you look at.

90 minutes of commitment effort and determination while wearing the shirt from all 11 players on the pitch and I'm on board Ed025 mate.
In my opinion Arsene and the players have to give the fans something to get behind and win them back over simply because they are the ones who have given the impression of simply going through the motions and are extremely happy to do so for a very long time now.
Show up against Bournemouth and Chelsea with a much improved attitude and 100% effort for 90 minutes in both games and win lose or draw and I they will go up a long way in my opinion of them mate.
I've never deamaded titles just to compete to the best of out ability because you can't ask for more that from anyone, but I don't think we've been getting that from the team over a season for a very long time now.

Agree gunner. Sanchez is a winner, very rare commodity at arsenal. If some of the others had a better attitude we may get better results and happier fans.

Ed, from an outsiders view it's hard to know exactly how and why it's manifested itself. From a regular fans view we can all see the media, pundits / ex players, and fans negative comments as of late. i'd just be interested to know your point of view/ opinion from someone who has a little more insight than most.

To be honest I struggle to believe the recent hype and like to think things aren't all that bad. but maybe that's because my glass is half full.

{Ed002's Note - The problems at Arsenal date back to the whole fiasco about Wenger when the club were looking at a way forward but Wenger had wrested enough control to derail it to some extent. They spoke with options as I explained last year but that ended up going nowhere. Going forward it would make a lot of sense to have a Sporting Director/Director of Football to work with a new manager. The great fear as I see it will be having Wenger now making the decision on a new manager - and even potentially taking the Sporting Director role himself. My view would be for the board to put the effort in to finding someone to take over this summer and to look to a Sporting Director to come in. They could go with the heart and perhaps look to Viera as a Sporting Director to work with a more experienced manager or look to a high-end Sporting Director like Zorc and then look to a manager who could work with him.

As for the players, they are simply transient employees. If they are unsettled and want to move on, get the best deal possible and replace them. It quickly deals with disruption.}

Steve the way I see it is if a band kept turning up drunk at their concerts forgetting the lyrics and all played different songs to each other it wouldn't be long before people quite rightly stopped going to see them.
If they decided to clean up thier act they would have to start somewhere with smaller crowds and rebuild there reputation before playing the O2 again.
It's uo to the team to show the world what playing field Arsenal means to them and so far what they have shown has been underwhelming to say the least.

Ed002, spot on with your final statement.

I'm not "in the know" about internal club dealings BUT, it seems odd that a club worth about a billion quid relies on a single man for the day to day. This just doesn't happen in other businesses (that I know of) . There is more to this entire saga than meets the eye.

For years now, Wenger has been as good as a sure thing as you can get in football. Top 4 finishes every year, champions league qualifications every year, minimal spending every year. If I had an employee like this, I'd give him a raise too because at the end of the day, I want to be making money. What I, as the owner of a company, will NOT tolerate is an employee cutting corners and and delivering subpar results. If he did and I did nothing about it, it would be entirely my fault as the owner of said company.

People constantly state that Arsene controls ever facet of the club. Think about this logically for a second. This isn't a mom and pop eatery. This isn't some small fry operation. This is a business worth in excess of a billion quid. Does anyone really believe that Arsene Wenger is pulling ALL the strings? Well, maybe you do, but I don't. Something doesn't smell right about any of this.

Cheers Ed it's nice to get your thoughts as well as the facts. It just beggars belief that after all of that Wenger was still offered a further 2 years. Though i can see the flip side of (the appearance of) stability over bringing in a stop gap whilst no one suitable was available.

When the time comes I think it's best Wenger steps away from Arsenal football club completely and we make a fresh start. Think even in a backroom role he'll still hold too much authority within the club. even if he doesn't want it. Staff will still look to him out of habit.

{Ed002's Note - That would be myu concern aswell.}

If Arsene appoints the next manager and stays in control behind the scenes then it really is time to give up on Arsenal football club then that would be time to call it a day once and for all for me.
I like Arsene and respect his past record before the Emirates but I'm in no way shape or form prepared to support Arsene Wenger fc, things are bad enough now.
