I've always avoided criticizing our players but a lot of people like to talk about "world class" players and who are and aren't. For me Ozil is just not world class, i am of the opinion that a world class player has to deliver world class performances on a regular basis with having a few bad games once in a while. Ozil always goes missing in the most important and hardest matches. That's the reason why i will never consider him a world class player, he can be outstanding on his day but when it matters he becomes invisible. He would be world class if he had Alexis' attitude, but unfortunately it's just the oposite and so he will stay just a pretty good player in my mind.

Excellent post. Although I am a fan of Ozil, I would be far more disappointed if Sanchez left. If Ozil leaves and we sign Reus, I wouldn't complain. We must sign a quality LB as soon as possible and we need a midfield general.

I do like ozil as well. But it must be good when the team isn't playing well he isn't. Am I being harsh to say he isn't a game changer?

I agree 16 Mesut is a class player but he won't pick a game up by the scruff of the neck and change it when the team is playing badly.
Ozil is the optional extras that turn a good car into a top of the range luxury edition he's not the engine or even the body work that makes even a poor car functional.

Oh by the way I'm not say we are a poor car just one that is very hit and miss, when where running at 100% we are a thing of beauty that turns heads where ever we go but unfortunately our reliability issues continue to be the thing that prevent us from named car of the year still.

Huge Ozil fan and a big Sanchez fan - pretty sure most were happy last season that it was Sanchez injured not Ozil! Times change.
A big club needs both players to sign - we wanted world class players and now we need to prove we can afford them by :
Wages
Signings
Trophies
Simple - if we loose the first two we sign then we should revert back to kids.

I don't think anyone is saying get rid of Ozil SY mate just that he's not the type of player to shine when his team are playing badly, he's the iceing on the cake not the basic ingredients and without those basic ingredients coming together he's never going to turn a soggy bottom into a star baker winning strawberry cheesecake mate.
