Ceballos loan deal will be sorted this week. Madrid wanted a mandatory purchase at the end. Arsenal didn't. Believe there will be no buying clause at all now however will be happy to have him another season.

Why would we turn down a clause like that? Presumably it would be Ceballos who would disagree with it rather than us?

Fingers crossed it gets done! We need players with his attitude and level of passion for the game on and off the pitch. Hopefully that deal will account for the attacking midfielder signing that we want and we can then focus on a real box to box/ defensive player. This would allow Dani to stop falling so deep and put his vision to work higher up the pitch as this is where he really excels.

Ceballos isn't quick enough to play further up field. He will be used as a deep midfielder again.

Ceballos is certainly good enough to play as an attacking midfielder Olber. You don't have to be quick to play in the number 10 role, look at the likes of James Rodriguez, Eriksen, David Silva and so on. It's his vision, passing ability, decision making and composure that makes him a good attacking midfielder. Arteta has shown him that he is capable of being a box to box player, especially with the lack of available options and formations that we've had to play to help with our defensive frailties. He likes to be further up the pitch though and that's where he should play.

Exactly Glenn. In fact I'd say attacking mid is one of the few positions where you don't need pace! Iniesta, Pirlo, de Bruyne, Cesc etc were never that quick, all time greats nonetheless.

For sure wire mate. Their game isn't about pace, it's about feeding other players in and creating goal scoring opportunities.

01 Sep 2020 13:58:21
Iniesta de bruyne and cesc all far quicker than ceballos. And pirlo didn't play attacking mid.

To be fair wire I don't think I'd want a clause where we have to buy him for a certain fee. Say it was 35m and he got injured for a long period of time of had a poor season. We'd still have to pay that large sum.
