I am absolutely gutted about Jack Wilshere leaving. I always have looked at Jack through rose tinted glasses, maybe he is right to go maybe not, time will tell. I understand the criticism that he is living off the Barcelona game 7 years ago. I was at the game that night and whilst it was probably our best night at the Emirates, what I remember most fondly was the feeling of pride that I had watching a boy who had worn an arsenal shirt since he was child being the best player on the pitch against probably the greatest side of all time.

Agree1 Disagree1

Spot on JW, he will be terribly missed, hopefully not as much as a player but his presence and his all arsenal attitude.

I won't "terribly miss" him at all.
He is and always was the Emporer's New Clothes. Sure he had some talent but he used it up about seven years ago in one decent Champions League game and has flattered to deceive, like so many of Arsenals "English spine" in the years since.
Just because he is "one of our own" doesn't make him a more special footballer. In fact, being "one of our own" and so patently failing to fulfill his potential, whether through mismanagement, poor health and fitness, or just an inability to take running with the ball quite close to his feet but rarely finding any end product with it, he has been a huge disappointment.

Southgate leaving him out was a no-brainer, and without meaning to be disrespectful to any other club, I'd have thought a promoted side maybe, such as Fulham, if they are so minded, or maybe a Championship club are best suited to his employment.

I don't feel too sorry for him. He has been handsomely rewarded financially, and will be set up for life with his next move, whoever is foolish enough to sign him for three years at £100,000+ per week, plus signing on fees. I can't help but wonder that if he had dedicated himself to looking after his body, he may have achieved more, but he's a symptom of the last ten years of relative under achievement - in no way the only one, nor necessarily the most glaring - but our Club is better off without him.

I wish him well in life and hope for his sake, he does perhaps go on to really develop and fulfill the potential he so obviously had. Arsenals' "loss" is Brentfords gain?

Much like Podolki and Mertesacker Jack was Arsenal through and through, no gave Spurs more stick on twitter than Poldolski, no gave our players a roasting like Mertesacker and who will ever forget Jack rendition of " it's happend again "

Now if only all 3 had shown on the pitch what they showed off of it they would have been great players for us but unfortunately they all talked the talk but seldom walked the walk.

Even though it's never nice to see a good player leave, it's the best thing for him if he wants to play football. Also, it's another injury prone player off the wage bill which Arsenal have always had their fair share of. We need consistency and reliability in the squad and with players like Cazorla and Wilshere you won't achieve it. I wish them all the very best and whoever they go to will inherit some good players! A lot of premier league teams will be stepping up to sign Jack and I wouldn't be surprised if it's either West Ham or Wolves that get him. Wolves can afford the higher wages and will be a strong force in the league this season.
Cazorla, I just wanted to see him play in an Arsenal shirt one more time but it wasn't to be!

Hello BVH and G62, while all your points are true and it's hard to disagree that all fans must have a level of disappointed with what happened with Wilshere, he didn't mature his game and always remained very raw, some glimpses of brilliance but he could never do what Ramsey did after his injury and came back strong last season, he had one complete season to prove himself and I really think this move is good for both the club and the player
My.

20 Jun 2018 09:37:40
No disrespect but the fact that his premier league options are Palace West ham and Wolves rather than untied Liverpool City must tell us it was the right decision for Arsenal.

. Oops got submitted
. My feeling when I read that he's leaving was a bad one, kind of like how everyone felt with Wenger, there is a picture of Wenger standing over Gibbs Jenko JW Ramsey and Ox, now only Ramsey is left and it feels bad to see that not one other player could fulfill his potential, mind you not even Ramsey has done it all, he needs to improve his game too! Wilshere was always my favourite and it's tough to see him go that's all am saying
But this club is now moving towards exciting times and a new look, I cannot be happier about Leno, I for one really think would CHANGE the team, we will finally be able to play from the back!

4 or 5 years ago I was thinking once Jack gets fit we will click and and really challenge again but unfortunately Jack wasn't committed away from the field and liked to do what his mates were doing rather than accept with the lifestyle comes responsibility and scrutiny.
No cared what his mates did as like the rest of they were just regular people with regular jobs and regular wages but Jack seemed to think he could have both.
He's not the first by long way and unfortunately won't be the last to have the ability but lack the mentality to be a very top player.
Hope this might be the kick up the backside he needed to make something of his career but time and opportunities are running out for him to be remembered by non Arsenal fans in 10 years time.

No disrespect to you G62 but he’s been heavily linked to Juventus not just lower premier league teams. Also, what would you know about Jack’s commitment off the field other than the rubbish written about him on the front page of tabloids. Over the Winter period this season just gone Jack was easily our best player and he was probably in our top performers in our Europa league run. Knowing the luck we have had with injuries I’m surprised by Emery telling Jack he is not in his first team plans.

20 Jun 2018 11:41:53
How can he be part of the first team plans when he barely sees half a season. It's not a one off either, it's been season after season. If there is one thing that Arsenal have lacked over the last 6 or 7 years it's consistency and depth. We always have key players injured from the start of the season to the end. He's a squad rotation player at Arsenal now which is why another team with less quality will suit him. He needs to focus on playing football and he can't do that at Arsenal anymore. It's not nice, but it's the way it is. All the best to him.

20 Jun 2018 11:47:57
Let's see where he ends up JW mate and as for the fake news you claim on Jacks behalf why did so many tabloids decide to photo shop so many pictures of Jack not doing what are deemed the right things and where did they get a lookalike to play the part of a drunk Jack the morning after a cup win on the victory parade and make it sound like Jack swearing on the microphone:-) .
Unfortunately mate, if your going to behave that way and get away with it you've got to deliver big style on the pitch and as for our best player? Well we all are entitled to our opinion on that:-)

20 Jun 2018 16:06:15
God forbid having a celebratory drink and swearing. Wants to grow up and act like a 26 year old 😴.

20 Jun 2018 22:28:59
I’m afraid JW has contributed nothing argue all you like but the facts are there . One great goal against Norwich, a decent game v Barcelona and that’s your lot . He’s played slot of games this season . scored 1 and had 3 assists .

Sorry but he’s never delivered .

20 Jun 2018 22:40:00
Agree, BG, i thought he was going to be the new gazza but things haven't worked out like it. Gazza could drink him under the table.

21 Jun 2018 12:15:03
People need to get over jack he couldn’t get in Bournemouths team two years ago, we are trying to get rid of the comfy players and bring in players that we need at the club, personally he wasn’t good enough heart doesn't win games.

21 Jun 2018 16:36:49
We never seen the best of Jack with any sort of consistency because he was either injured or the getting back up to speed after a injury. Yes it is sad in a way as he was a Arsenal man through the youth setup, but there is no room for sentiment in this game if you to progress and succeed. Emery unlike Wenger showed some bottle and brutal honesty and told like it is to him, which to me bods well as it shows Emery is not going to accept passengers. I wish Jack well but it was the right move.

21 Jun 2018 19:25:13
Ryan, to be fair and i'm sticking up for wenger here (am i really) ., he told him the same last season, he gave him no guarantees. Wilshire didn't have anything other than hobsons choice and eventually got himself back in the team on a regular basis. I think there maybe is more to this than we know about.
