Credit where credit is due

After 27 games:

2018/ 19 - 53 points
2017/ 18 - 45
2016/ 17 - 50
2015/ 16 - 51
2014/ 15 - 51

So we are back on track where we were the seasons before last. So improvement in points for whatever reason. got to recognise that to be balanced

The question is - can emery identify talent needed, manage the egos, install discipline in defence and maintain creativity to get us back to where we were in the glory years with Wenger. fingers crossed

Well done on the small step Emery and let's Michael J Fox this Team to where we were 15 years ago or so!

I'm not sure getting back to where we were 15 years ago is possible mate but doing a Liverpool or even a Spurs where we are capable of beating anyone home or away and not being a push over for anyone shouldn't be impossible for a club like Arsenal.
Getting back in the title mix and making all games including city United Spurs Chelsea Liverpool home or away 50/ 50 games again would be a giant leap forward for us.

Very interesting SY, thanks for posting that.
Out of interest I checked the league leaders too:
2018/ 19 - 53 / 66 (4th)
2017/ 18 - 45 / 72 (6th)
2016/ 17 - 50 / 66 (5th)
2015/ 16 - 51 / 56 (3rd)
2014/ 15 - 51 / 60 (3rd)

An improvement on the last 2 years at least.

Agreed 62 - I’ve bashed Emery and it’s importsntvto be fair. I don’t expect invincibles but more the excitement and happiness of how they played, expectations were high and they all put a shift in.

Wire - an improvement on the last 2 years and a huge project ahead but you can’t take that leap unless your run up is right. We’ve taken the first few baby steps which should be recognised as well as the gap between today and expectation.

Let’s crlebrate the small wins and hopefully we build on them as you state :)

A top 4 finish would be a fantastic achievement in Dicks first season and if it happens then fair play to the man but should it not turn out that way next season needs to show us undisputed improvement rather than debatable stats that can and often do only tell part of any story.

Lads, we are on the right track

Let's give the boss at least another year.

Two years is fair but if no undisputed improvement is made after 24 months then how long do we wait to see it?
We can't simply watch Dick sleep walk for 5 years as we did Arsene.
If we want different to what we've had then surely we fans need to act differently too.
If our defence is no better this time next year then we should have a Dicks replacement lined up but if he can give us a defence worthy of the name then why would we Want him to go?
Surely there has to be conditions to backing this manager rather than just repeating what we did with Arsene.

To be fair G62, i just don't see Emery as the type of manager who would be happy to sleep walk for 5 years either. He seems a fairly driven man who has had previous success. If things are not going well i could easily see him walk before he is pushed.

Hi Epping I really hope he is the man that can and while I accept must have 2 seasons I wouldn't fancy a 3rd if our defence is no better than usual.
It can't be possible for Arsenal to have the only unfixablle defence in history and so if it can be done we need someone who can rather than simply patiently wait for someone who hasn't in 2 seasons.
Hopefully this time next season I will be saying how brilliant Dick is because basically that's what we all want.
