Have just read something i found interesting. In big games without ozil against top 5, the record is 3 wins and a draw. I can't back this up, it is something paolo di canio said on a tv programme in italy, discussing the premier league. Not bashing ozil but i find it interesting if correct. Can anyone shed any light on this.

I know we beat City and Chelsea in the cup sf and final with him.
Stats are what people want them to be, I've seen stats that put Xhaka in the top 5 midfielders in the premier league for the last 2 seasons and I've also seen ones that put him in the seasons worst 11 two seasons running too.

I believe it was premier league gunner but i could be wrong. Agree about stats but if true, it proves everyone is replaceable and we aren't reliable on one or two players.

The Boss has a few big calls to make as Ozil doesn’t press nor does Rambo and Xhaka. PEA has disappeared while our defence lacks pace. Who will get cut? Some names will be in the casualty list - some big names.

I doubt Ozil will adapt to Emery's system and the problem is that he is virtually unsaleable due to the absurdly high wages he is on.
My initial feelings after 3 matches are that the 3 in Emery's 4-2-3-1 is the weakest area. The 2 wide players in the 3 need to be able to defend, press and attack. I can't think of a single player who fits these wide roles, as all our players who play wide have one or more of the necessary attributes missing.

He is saleable- his transfer value is diminished due to wages but that’s just maths. I assume we could take a hit on his fee, pay him a huge exit bonus and the new club takes him on on lower wages and we move forward. Complex but I am sure nothings impossible as long as we aren’t greedy nor is the player.
Personally, I would rather he gets back to the old Ozil. The old Ozil and last season’s PEA is what we really need.

How do you solve a problem like Mesut? It's a dilemma.
We all want what he's capable of to stay but few want what we get all to often from him.
Personally I think Arsenal and Mesut Ozil are a mismatch, we have seldom seen the best of Mesut and he has never seen the best of Arsenal.
Put Mesut in the invincibles side and he'd have statue by now.
Fantastic player fantastic club just the timing was all wrong.

True but I wouldn’t drop Pires, Freddie or DB10 for him :)

May be in DB10’s last season or two he would have been the ideal replacement but he doesn’t have the same killer instinct as DB10.

Denis Bergkamp is the best I've ever seen in an Arsenal shirt mate, pure class on grass and then some.
No Mesut wouldn't have replaced him but he would have looked like a legend in that squad while over the last 7 or 8 years only one notable Arsenal signing hasn't become worse during his time with us and that's obviously Sanchez.
Right player wrong time unfortunately mate because Mesut Ozil pre Arsenal was a Superstar of world football.

Hopefully in the future such signings will have a more enjoyable time at Arsenal but no one can deny we've been through our most difficult period in years during Mesuts time with us.

I prefer a fit and firing ozil but when he has missed games, our record isn't too bad at all. We need to get more bang for our buck or show him the door. His wages are strangling the life out of this club, we should be getting more for it.

Strangely enough Steve if think the last thing Mesut was looking for was another battle with fans, I'm sure the bloke was desperate to do well and feel the love but unfortunately it just ain't happening for him with us.
On a personal note I'm sure Mesut would like nothing more than to just be everyone's favourite player again, the lads had a tough time emotionally but currently he looks more out of place with what Dicks trying to do than he did with Arsene who never got the best out of him either.

SY4 - I do not believe Ozil has any value as I cannot think of a team that would commit themselves to paying him £350,000 a week for at least 3 seasons, as well as a transfer fee. Indeed, I even believe we would find it difficult to unload him on a free. Don't forget not a single team made any serious attempt to sign him as his contract ran down.
