VAR has its critics and it certainly isn't perfect yet but one thing it has achieved is to reduce the amount of shirt pulling pushing and holding in the box, the amount of penalties being awarded has cleaned up that part of the game dramatically.
In just one week it's almost irradiated a problem that's been getting worse and worse for years.

Agree0 Disagree0

Really. Seen loads of shirt pulling. It seems var will be used to find fifa the winner they want. It's a bit of a joke. They should give mangers to reviews like in cricket.

I was watching the Germany Sweden game last night and noticed a dramatic reduction, yes there have been inconsistencies but on the whole I think VAR has been a huge success in this area.
If they stick with it we will see more goals from corners and free kicks and lass and less penalties as players and managers get the message that the holding pushing and shoving will no longer be accepted as part of the game.
Bring back the tough tackling that lead to the game being described as a man's game and do away with the hand holding, cuddling and amateur dramatics where players hold their faces when they've been touched on the shoulder.
VAR is a real opportunity to do away with all the things that have blighted football for years like diving etc and get back to the days when keepers were the only ones who used their hands.

I think it's a great thing, but there's such a lack of consistency. The Mexican penalty wasnt referred to VAR and I thought it was very harsh, the Korean had gone to ground with his arm raised before the Mexican kicked it, surely ball to hand.

It's not perfect yet Eden mate and I don't suppose it ever will be but if it puts an end to diving holding shirt pulling and trying to control the ref into sending oppenents off unfairly it's got to be good for the game. Stop the cheating and gamesmanship and let the football be the deciding factor rather than the acting and wrestling, I'm not sure how that can be a bad thing.

Sweden had a clear penalty.
Where was var, mitrovic the night before. ove seen loads of incidents.
Var is a joke.

Kane was again pin downed at the first corner - var hasn’t stopped it nor have the refs. The REFs need to step up and VAR helps them. VAR isn't to replace the ref.

I can fully understand why you would be against anything that stopped the holding and diving 12 mate;-)
Anything that favours footballing teams is simply not in Uniteds interst is mate :-)

That’s a great point 62 and how can a ref keep up with 11 united players in the box defending -.

24 Jun 2018 17:01:51
Upstairs, downstairs, tickets please! the fa are thinking of sending a conductor to old Trafford next season rather than a ref and installing 10 mph speed cameras rather than VAR.

24 Jun 2018 17:39:29
Has anyone been carded for going down like they've been shot yet? I hope it's used for that too and cuts the stuff out football used to be mocked for.

May be transport for a London will get nvolved rather than VAR to sort out the congestion in Utd’s penalty box.

Still not sure where anyone is having a pop at Sir Harry Kane. Sure is not me. Pretty sure every gooner believes he’s top drawer. They just question how long he will hang out at the lane as every year their is a wasted opportunity fir medals. Surely if he’s ambitious he wants medals and ambition.

To answer your question - yes that’s why Cesc, Clichy etc left and RVP left for medals in the old Utd era. God knows why Sanchez w3nt there or should I say his bank manager.

We are both fallen giants and to be fair - Utd had further to fall bu5 at least we know that and want change to drive cups / medals in a few years time.
