I’m going to ask a question two ways and I would like people to answer twice.

Q1. Should arsenal buy shelvey
Q2. Is shelvey better than xhaka.

Someone on here a while back mentioned shelvey and a few scoffed I think I was bemused at the time and I think one ed said he’s a nutcase. I think I agreed. I’ve always thought he looks like he has quality but the mental age of a 5 year old. But I think to the first question yes we should buy him we need someone with some bite! And those long balls with auba? Behave yourself! And to the second question he’s loads better than xhaka.

I’m even thinking Rafa wouldn’t be too bad a choice to replace Wenger . I would love your opinion on this ed01. I have a feeling you think shelvey is a knob end. But do you think he is worth a shot for arsenal? And do you think he’s better than xhaka?
SLB.

{Ed001's Note - 1. No
2. Yes.

He is a knob 'ead who does not live life the right way, hence his weight issues and the fact that he is slower than a week of Mondays. The worst possible player for a manager like Wenger, who trusts his players to act right and maturely. Shelvey is not mature.

As for Rafa, I love Rafa but he would not be a good choice for Arsenal, he would be in a constant, ongoing and public battle with the board. If you notice at Newcastle he very publicly beat down Ashley who has kept his mouth shut ever since Rafa's comments because he knows the fans are fully behind Rafa and he could not win. At Arsenal, would Rafa have that fans' backing to enable him to get the funds or whatever other changes he wants? I think he would get a mixed reception from the fans and so never be entirely safe enough to make the changes he would want to make.}

Agree0 Disagree0

For me Rafa is ideally suited for international management no transfer market and lots of one off games to pick one team selections.
At Liverpool he bought and sold players for fun and went 99 games without playing the same team twice in succession.

Yes thank you ed. A quality reply. I’m much of the same thinking, the only reason I said yes to the first was under the subconscious premise that it would be under a new coach.

{Ed001's Note - Wenger has another year's contract yet mate, he has yet to indicate any intention of leaving early.}

I certainly looks that way. If he does stay the only way I can see him having any joy next year is if he buys well and buys early this summer. With World Cup it couldn’t be any more difficult for Wenger to do good business.

{Ed001's Note - might do him good to not be able to dither and have to be decisive.}

Aren't the new back room team suppose to take over the buying of players from Arsene?

{Ed001's Note - yes but he still has to let them know what he needs and that decision has to be made nice and early while he is angry over poor results, rather than after he has had time to sit back, calm down and think 'but Iwobi is a nice lad so I won't replace him'.}

It would defy nature if he thinks that his current method is working.

That has really made me split my sides ed! That’s how he is ed a really nice old man and I’m sorry but I’m been ageist there. I do genuinely love the guy ed! Take out the living in the now but he has given me absolute moments of joy, joy that 90% of other fans of other clubs might not see in their lifetime. I remember and shall never forget but it’s time please sir! As of today you can hardly forget what the real prize is this year! Like united last year. They won it and now sit second in the premier league . Would we take that a year on from today? Bloody right we would. That’s the last angle to hold on to!

{Ed001's Note - it is a shame, he is a great guy, but his time has gone and he should have gone with it.}

As a neutral and a lover of football! Would you like to see Wenger win the EL as a last testimony to the man a swan song if you like, on the premise that it is a swan song.

{Ed001's Note - I would love him to win it, though for more reasons than just Wenger. I definitely do not want RB Salzburg and their bull about no longer having any connection to Red Bull being anywhere near winning anything. They should not be in the competition in the first place. Marseille I don't mind as a club but I can't stop associating themselves with the days when they fixed matches and they are forever tainted by that for me, even though I know that those days are long past in my head, in my heart they are still that club. And I don't want Atletico, they are not exactly entertaining to watch.}

I asked a question about Salzburg and Leipzig the other day! I don’t know if I missed the reply?!

{Ed001's Note - I don't know, I never saw it.}

15 Apr 2018 20:12:33
It’s currently on the other posts page . It was about the use of the word red bull.

{Ed001's Note - ah ok, Leipzig are just RB (actually they are something like Rasen Ball) because of rules against using a company name in their name in Germany. They have to meet all kinds of clauses, known as a grandfather clause, to be able to use a company name. It is called that because it is basically about length of time of ownership.

Salzburg are no longer known by the appellation Red Bull, as they claim (and UEFA accepted to allow them both to take part in the same European comp even though it is clearly bollox) that Red Bull no longer has any involvement. They do not have the same rules in Austria governing football, so they can be a pure advertising tool for the poisons pumped out as 'energy drinks'.}

15 Apr 2018 20:53:40
That’s a brilliant term for energy drinks. Pure poison.

15 Apr 2018 20:53:54
And thanks for the reply.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome.}
