I'm pleased to learn that Wenger intends remaining at the club next season. Although us fans can get a little frustrated with Wenger a times, he has brought stability and trophies to the team for 20 years, which is no mean feat. Don't forget any replacement for Wenger will, in order to better his recent achievements; win the PL. get to the last 8 of the CL, win the FA Cup and/ or win the League Cup.
In order to continue managing Arsenal after next season, with the fans on board, I believe Wenger must make at least 3 serious summer signings and I am not convinced that he will do so.

RG69. You forgot one thing mate.
In the last few years he has also brought arrogance to the club.

RG any replacement will need to finish either Top 2 once or top 3 more than twice in 11 attempts to better Arsenes recent PL record.
Its extremely likely Arsene will continue on the same course he's plotted over the last 12 years simply because that's what he thinks is best and I see no reason to think he will suddenly have a complete change in his philosophy this summer and to me it makes sense to think if you continue to do the same things season after season you will continue to get the same results.
Sacking Arsene is not an option that's not necessary or the right thing to do with just one year to go, those of us who find it hard to be excited by our chances next season under Arsene should just grin and bare it for one more season.

lanesra - I don't for one moment believe Wenger has brought arrogance to the club. He has brought stability, entertainment and trophies.
gunner62 - Coming in the top two in the PL is not an easy task, this season possibly being an exception with smaller clubs Leicester and Tottenham currently in those places, although I can see us claiming 2nd place. These positions have in recent seasons been filled by the likes of Chelsea, Man City and Man U. In the case of the first two they have been 'financially doped', whilst Man U are one of the biggest clubs in the world and have the finances to match. Wenger had to cope for many seasons under financial restrictions imposed by the cost of building the new stadium. There are very few managers, if any, that I feel could take over from Wenger and do better without a huge injection of capital to finance the acquisition of 3 or 4 world class players. There are the likes of Guardiola, Ancelotti and Mourinho, but none of them are available (assuming Mourinho goes to United) and all would need substantial funds to sign players. The problem with Wenger and the fans, is that he has been at the club for 20 years and perhaps we are a little used to him and bored by his methods. I can assure you that if Wenger signed 3 top players this summer, we would all be very excited again. The problem is that we will get one at best.

Rg they as you put it might have been finacially doped although chelski won the league on a deficit last year, but we have been financially duped.

What do you think Eds. Is there a boy of arrogance there or what?

{Ed025's Note - arrogance and stubbornness can easily be confused lanesra, i dont believe he is arrogant but does at times treat arsenals money as if its his own, if he had spent in the summer (or even the winter) then i believe arsenal would have won the league this season mate..
