The Sven men are in charge of buying so this would stop Rafa trading players like pokemon cards so it might work.
Benetez is a good tactician especially for big one off games but for me he is the ultimate tinker man with 99 consecutive Liverpool games without playing the same side twice.
I think he's more suitable for international football with no transfer market and all games being one offs, better for England than Arsenal in my opinion.

Still would like to see us go for Mahrez but we're clearly not keen on a player who has proved he has the minerals and is fairly young. but anyone fancy Lanzini? In a better (albeit only slightly) team I think he'd flourish.

Cheers Ed. This feels frighteningly like when United spanked us bank holiday weekend 6 years ago. Nothing has been learned, nothing changes. In all 3 games this season we've looked vulnerable, and now it looks as though he's lost the dressing room to me. That nice run at the end of last season seems like a distant memory and was just papering over the cracks.

Ed - you doubt we'd buy at the last minute for the sake of it, even though Wenger has done this consistently with players he clearly doesn't fancy that much like Perez? Appreciate you don't have a crystal ball, but I'd say it's guaranteed?!
{Ed002's Note - Quite frankly AW should be spending this season finding a successor for next season but he needs to keep the team together. There is no easy fix. The players have not suddenly gone bad so there is a need to get them aligned. There is a lesson to be learned over Lemar. We will see what happens this week but he should move for the three that are needed.}

I agree with kcider, the ox has played well preseason, looks better than bellerin! However he is 2/ 3 games away from being injured. REMEMBER THIS POST.

As I posted the other week, be prepared for Sanchez to leave mid August and Arsenal to sign neither Lemar or Mahrez. Late August we'll panic buy a 6 out of 10 player for around 30m. Possibly Barkley this year.

If Arsenal are really interested in Lemar then we should stop mucking about and buy him. After the initial flurry and excitement of seemingly solid rumours and the signing of Lacezzette this transfer window is in danger of petering outline normal.
We should be aiming to sign players like Lemar to supplement what we have, not to replace Sanchez. Why can't we have both?
I wouldn't be at all surprised if Sanchez leaves on deadline day and we don't get Lemar or Mahrez. So basically normal dithering leaves us with with NOTHING. Then, all the people moaning that Mahrez isn't good enough suddenly start whining that we didn't get him either!

I actually think Bergkamp was a bit overrated - Henry was in a different league. Everyone always says how great DB was but if you actually think about it, what did he do? Scored a handful of awesome goals, the same as dozens of players over the years. Don't get me wrong I love him but just don't get the exaggeration and delusions of grandure. I also think Pires was better.

Once we sell for 70m, everyone knows we've got even more money and the prices for Lemar, Goretzka go up. We'll still end up with neither, and lose Sanchez in the process.

I agree. Wenger always says 'we are looking for players to improve us', but he rarely improves the best 11, just improves the squad with 6.5/ 10 players.
