Let's be honest and a few of us said it, we were robbed in our purchase for VG, we were blinded by stats from abroad, the Euro leagues aren't the PL, just look at the results the PL sides are picking up in Europe.

Iceman, look where Saka plays, if he was the complete player he would contribute more, his talent is in attack ( or supposed to be ) his goals total is horrific his assists? , if he wasn't playing for Arsenal he wouldn't be going to the world cup.

Saka isn't rubbish but he has to have more say in a game, maybe he will step up when it really matters, let's see, but for me he isn't doing enough and we have too many like that at the moment.

The trouble is Saka's stats are getting steadily worse, in his first season he scored 16 PL goals and 9 assists imagine where we would be now with that return, last season he scored just 6 PL goals with 10 assists, this season 5 PL goals and 4 assists , i am guessing the surprise element has gone and players know how to play him.

{Ed025's Note - for me hes a very good player BG and has been your major threat for a few years now, defenders know this and are doubling up on him and negating him somewhat i believe mate, there is also a confidence crisis at the moment with the team and thats effecting him as well, im not making excuses for him and yes he has to step up but so does everyone else..

Yep I understand that ED but to be a great player, you still rise to the top and score and assist, currently he isn't. maybe wrongly we expected his first full season to be a rinse and repeat but currently it's not.

As you say it's not just Saka, the 2nd Wolves goal would never have been conceded 4 months ago when the defence was water tight.

{Ed025's Note - for me its down to nerves and a very negative set up BG, its all a bit too safe for me mate and the players seem scared to express themselves and that is killing you, also being top of the tree you are every other clubs cup final as proven against Wolves but thats the nature of the beast and the best teams overcome that..

I think there are many factors in play when it comes to his reduced goal contributions. The most obvious one being injuries. Second is the way we play as a collective. Our style is now very safe and slow and that means that the forwards generally have less space and time when they get the ball. Third is all the other work he does in addition to attacking (of which i wrote more about below) .

So i don't think he's worse than before but i guess the amount of minutes he's amassed over the years has caught up with him in the last two seasons and in addition the way the whole team works doesn't make his job in attack any easier. That said he's not perfect. He doesn't have that much flair or blistering speed. He's more of a strong and balanced kind of a player. I still think he's one of the very best overall but that's of course just an opinion and just as valid as yours.
