Anyone else see the prize money paid out by the Premier League this season.

At £139 million for finishing 5th we only got £11 million less than Chelsea did for winning it.

Sunderland got £93 million for finishing bottom.

That is some serious cash.

1.) 01 Jun 2017 22:16:13
Let's home we can plough the majority of that cash into our transfer targets.

2.) 02 Jun 2017 12:12:41
Good news for the players but not so good for the fans, that money needs to come from somewhere and there is ultimately only one place to get it, the public.
Yes there is advertising money but the advertisement is only aimed at the fans too so ultimately it's 100% the watching public who pay.
Increased transfer fees increased wages increased prices have to follow.

Holy shizzle, Usmanov has made a 1.3 billion bid to Kroenke to buy his shares.

Only read a couple of days ago that Usmanovs personal wealth went up by over £4 billion this year.

Apparently Kroenke hadn't said a definite no.

Sell, sell, sell!

1.) 19 May 2017 18:06:10
Please please sell! We need a change from the top down. I believe Usmanov will do this. And he won't see this club as purely a business. It'll also be a hobby and something he won't want to lose with. Fingers crossed.

2.) 19 May 2017 18:15:52
I was slated when I said usmanov will take over one day. he's the savious imo and itl happen eventually. No top4 would be great bargaining tool.

I knew my avatar would not be wasted :) red dog if your reading this have faith usmanov is here.

3.) 19 May 2017 18:24:10
I'll hold my hands up and say I was against it. Slated anyone who said it. But now we need it. I was against all the money that came with it. But now that money is in football from sponsors anyway.

4.) 19 May 2017 18:50:50
He's a big Wenger fan though.

5.) 19 May 2017 19:12:46
Lol he's not stupid wouldn't slate wenger before he's in. Bad PR all the noises etc are at perfect times he's a clever bloke. If he comes wenger may get a year who knows but he won't accept failure. Finishing 5th won't be a bad thing this year. D16 let's hug.

6.) 19 May 2017 19:23:27
I'd love him to come in, but in reality I don't think it's going to happen. Stan is too stubborn as he's proved recently. Money talks though, so fingers crossed this is an opening bid.

7.) 19 May 2017 19:31:05
Apparently the bid was placed a couple of weeks ago and has been refused. Maybe some others could show interest now.

8.) 19 May 2017 19:44:56
The timing of it all is genius.

9.) 19 May 2017 20:12:18
Come on usmanov! Really good news to see him trying to buy Kroenke!

10.) 19 May 2017 20:59:12
Derby you old sage you. Some of us are like visionaries. Lol.

09 Jun 2016 11:55:40
I was having a read through some of the other pages and found that the Man City page now has people posting, not all City fans I might add.

Anyway back on April 1st someone asked about Gundogan going to City which ended in them asking if they had any interest in Xhaka.

Ed02 gave a lengthy reply of interested clubs, which included City, Napoli and us but his last sentence of that reply said, but Arsenal will be looking for an early agreement.

Somewhat of a shame he will no longer post on here.

1.) 09 Jun 2016 12:06:40
Agree stoner mate. It was a big factor for me visiting this site as well as your banter ladies ;)

2.) 09 Jun 2016 12:40:14
It was a bit of a mine of information over on their rumours page Je, with ed02 answering numerous questions mate.

He also spoke about us having interest in two left backs, a guy called Guerreiro at Lorient and Rico Henry at Walsall.

Hopefully he's not totally done with us and will return again at some stage.

3.) 09 Jun 2016 14:40:05
maybe after two tranfer windows eh. maybe he's giving us the treatment madrid and athletico are due to endure.

4.) 09 Jun 2016 14:27:54
I hold my hands up and say I sent a post in regarding the attitude of certain Eds, at the time I never gave a thought of half the bull they were deleting and only a fraction was actually getting passed in to the page. I sincerely apologise for that. And I really do hope Ed02 returns to the page as the knowledge is second to none, although I do greatly appreciate Ed01 and Ed25s input.

5.) 09 Jun 2016 15:03:13

It's really strange the we have so much interest in the LB position, is Nacho going home? Is Gibbs off?

I hope ed02 comes back for the greater good of mankind.

6.) 09 Jun 2016 15:32:15
Je they're mostly very young lb's. Monreal is 30 I think. It makes sense to sign someone now.

7.) 09 Jun 2016 16:01:58
yes i also remember him being adament that chelsea wouldn't block cech coming to us, because abramovic respected his service and desire to remain in london. even though mourinho publicly stated he didn't want him to and when to myself and i'm sure a few others it seemed an odd transfer to allow when he could of been sold abroad.

8.) 09 Jun 2016 16:38:54
Our LB's are second rate, hence the need to sign a decent one and Rodriguez fits the bill.

9.) 09 Jun 2016 20:26:54
CS I agree mate, age completely slipped my mind and on that note yeah I get why we're on the lookout now, Guerrero- there's been a lot of rumours about this fella lately, talked very highly of but I haven't seen much of him to be honest.
Rodriguez- in my view we've got Gibbs who can do what he does, we need someone who can defend properly n not one who thinks of constantly getting assists.
If we where to go out n get a LB then Gaya from Valencia would be my pick :)

Who would you guys want?

10.) 10 Jun 2016 14:58:13
JG, Wendell from Leverkusen or Alex Telles from Galatasaray/ Inter. Both young Brazilian left backs with a lot of hype surrounding them. In an ideal world it would be a defender who can speak portugese and english, who can help Gabriel to play in the team (if the language barrier is still, for some reason, an issue) even if they don't play right next to each other.

11.) 10 Jun 2016 19:29:59
Interesting NEG, Brazilian? After our last Brazilian LB? Your brave :) just kidding mate.
Both super fast too if I remember rightly

I like kurzawa from PSG too n also Jetro willams from PSV

I wouldn't be to bothered if we didn't succeed in upgrading the LB position this summer, it can wait, we have far more important positions to upgrade.

As always lots of differing opinions and with Wenger leaving there's definitely going to be a lot of variations in them.

I personally am chuffed he's called it a day and last season would have been even better. It was good to see the out pour of appreciation and love for the guy at the Burnley game, especially from those fans that had finally had enough and spoke with their feet rather than banners and planes.

So change is and has been happening and I've long voiced my dislike of Silent Stan because of the mediocre records of his American clubs where winning isn't the be all.

But the change has been more evident since he sent his son Josh, I think that's his name, over to sort out this change and with 3 new guys in top posts, Wenger gone and a lot of his back room staff out too, then maybe we are underestimating what Josh wants to achieve and not his dad.

I know a lot have concerns about Arteta because that really is a leap into the unknown but with the positive stuff that's been happening then I'm going with the flow because he would have a great team behind him.

The seasons are pretty much done across Europe so all players and managers can't yet be discounted so let's just wait and see.

Lastly, what did Leicester do the season before they won the League and what did Chelsea do last time around before they won the league.

As always we want the club to be positive yet some many fans remain negative, we'll be 6th, will we challenge for the title etc.

Let's see who comes in, players, managers, back room staff and see where we go from there.

It really is a new dawn and something to be excited about.

1.) 20 May 2018 13:55:38
Totally agree Stoner mate, brilliant post.
We are swapping what so obviously wasn't working for the unknown which may or may not work out to be better, but at least we are trying to do something about our situation now and I don't see how that can possibly be a bad thing.
If your car won't start and kicking the tyres hasn't helped for 14 consecutive mornings can it to realy hurt to pop the bonnet and take a look at what else it might be that's stopping it working ?

2.) 20 May 2018 13:58:11
Spot on stoner. Like I said in another post, football is not an exact science and a good vibe is better than a world class player. For me with tha Arteta talk it isn’t so much as if he can do the job but the fact I can see a divide fan base. We need to hit the ground running.

3.) 20 May 2018 14:47:59
If you want people get behind you then you have to offer them a reason to do so, the more often you disappoint them the more of an ask it is to back the same old plan again and again.
So far nether the new coach or the Sven men have let anyone down so why not give them the benefit of the doubt and back them at least until they give you a reason not to.

Last season it was plain to see why we were going to struggle because all the old problems were still there so how could things possibly improve things are going to be different next season whether they will be better or not nobody knows but just the possibility is exciting for me.

18 May 2018 18:03:04

Don't let it get to you mate, it's only one t and I'm sure if Arttetta does come he'll be great in the role. I love the fact Cazzorla may come with him tooo.

I think a combination of Artttettta and Cazzzorla would be incredible.

What with Mertessssacker and Lundbbburg on board it will be a fairly young group of coaches.

I don't think the Svvvven men will let us down mate. 😉😂

(Just Joshing 622) x.

1.) 18 May 2018 18:17:18
G62 did crack me up though.

His reply was, "Ok Dags, I will just call him Mikell" 🤣🤣.

2.) 18 May 2018 18:28:13
Best post I've ever read Stoner mate, every word made perfect sense to me, it's almost as if I wrote it myself mate :-)

3.) 18 May 2018 19:06:35
How about the bos or the gafa Dags? I'm Steve would like that :-)

4.) 18 May 2018 19:18:25
Bos or Gafa? 😂😂😂.

5.) 18 May 2018 19:22:36
Stoner, you're a terrible person for poking fun at the elderly. Shame on you!

6.) 18 May 2018 19:31:52
What's so funny now? :-)

7.) 18 May 2018 20:36:12
Sharpy I remember the days before the common market and 244 pence to the pound, I even remember Arssenal challenging for titles :-)

8.) 18 May 2018 21:52:13
most people remember when arsenal challenged lol.

9.) 18 May 2018 22:12:40
Ah but Stephen do you remember ABBA?

10.) 18 May 2018 22:43:24
Dags I did see that, brilliant as usual by 62 and I was 😂😂 and Sharpie I’m one of the oldest on here!

So stop bullying me. 🤪.

11.) 19 May 2018 09:08:53
I'm 33 but yes I remember abba.

12.) 19 May 2018 10:39:11
But do you remember them winning eurovision with Waterloo?
I remember it well I was eating a marathon bar and drinking a can of vimto at the time :-)

13.) 19 May 2018 14:25:16
Opal fruits 😂.

08 May 2018 20:30:50
Great to see Cazorla back in full training, really hoping he gets another contract. Fabulous little player.

1.) 08 May 2018 21:07:59
Pay as you play if we are serious about being different going forwards
As you say brilliant player but sadly an injury plagued career with us so we shouldn't be looking to give away £4 or 5 million a year contracts away with every time a player gets back in training.
Diarby Caz Rosicky Artetta Jack Mertesacker, I wonder what the combination of the wages has been for all the months and years they've been unavailable? £100 million?

2.) 08 May 2018 21:12:42
Loved the little guy but we have to move on. He won't be the same player.

3.) 08 May 2018 21:55:20
You guys are so harsh. 😔.

4.) 08 May 2018 22:24:47
Stoner, that's one of my middle names among many more. Lol.

5.) 08 May 2018 22:32:55
I know mate but we've got to stop the soft contract image where players can semi retire early and still collect full time money.
We need to become a club that rewards those who achieve at high standard for us very hansomly but whose don't or are unable to for whatever reason need to be thanked and moved on from.
Harsh as it sounds especially with someone like Caz but the cosy old boys social club mentality just has to stop if we are to ever get back to being competitive again.

6.) 08 May 2018 22:55:58
Disagree! We bitch like no ones business when they don't put it in and when they do like Caz and Kos and get injured then sod 'em! None of us know how they will come back but surely both these players deserve every chance! Not their fault they're injured! Somewhere between ruthless and where we have been - just not so ruthless for me . COYG.

7.) 08 May 2018 22:58:53
Plus if we are prepared to give Yaya where's me cake a years contract surely the least we can do is give two of our best at least a fighting chance COYG.

8.) 09 May 2018 02:16:20
Im sure the new coach will have his opinion on weather the little magician still has the magic or wether kos is still capable. I just think the prem will be too hectic for both.

9.) 09 May 2018 06:46:09
I honestly don’t know what the new guy will do but Cazorla is class and head and shoulders, maybe bar Rosicky, above the other previously injured guys and this last one was not his fault.

I thinks it’s his quality that doesn’t make the Premier League to hectic for him steve.

10.) 09 May 2018 14:05:22
What a shame that Rosicky never really reached the heights he was obviously capable of. Its weird that some people are obviously prone to injury, with Diarby being an extreme case. I would love for Caz to be here next season, but i guess we have to be realistic that someone who has had a part of their arm grafted onto their leg are not going to be able to sustain the highest level of fitness required for the premiership. However, as a sub to come on as an Ozil replacement (for those days when you know, Ozil just isn't interested! ) he could still be a good squad player.

14 Mar 2018 17:01:00
I know this isn't Arsenal related but I can't believe Southampton are looking to Mark Hughes as their new manager.

They've done so well it would be a shame to lose them from the Premiership.

I just don't get why clubs keep employing people like him, Pardew, Allardyce, Pulis etc.

{Ed001's Note - I am absolutely flabbergasted myself. There are so many better options out there, ones who don't mind developing youth players, why settle for a proven failure? Just shows why they are struggling, the people running the club know f all about football.}

1.) 14 Mar 2018 17:21:57
I said similar a few weeks ago.

It staggers me how the likes of Allardyce, Pulis, Pardew and Moyes get continued employment, despite continued under achievement and an annual flirtation with relegation.

2.) 14 Mar 2018 17:24:53
The problem is that it isn't easy to manage in the Premiership and hence why the same managers go round and round. Who, that is available and would work under the same financial restrictions that previous managers have, would be a better option?

3.) 14 Mar 2018 17:38:46
That’s what amazes, he’s done absolutely nothing yet keeps getting jobs.

What do you think of Marco Silva ed01?

{Ed001's Note - in answer to RG61 first, all of those managers have had plenty of money to spend, in comparison to most, but the more they have spent the worse they have made their teams.

As for Silva, I am not convinced by him at all. He is like a better version of Pardew for me. Gets his team playing well going forward but they are alway shambolic at the back. It was nothing to do with Everton that Watford fell apart, it was simply that his lack of tactical acumen and inability to organise a defence was found out.}

4.) 14 Mar 2018 18:53:14
Thanks ed01 appreciate the reply. It’s so easy to get sucked into the hype surrounding some managers and players.

I really like the insights you give in replies and the daily reviews, not sugar coated with press type bowlocks. 👍🏼.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate, though, for me, that is sugar coated!}

5.) 14 Mar 2018 19:33:38
Whilst your around can you give your opinion on nagglesman! Lots of buzz surrounding him. Has he got the factor or is it to early to say. Maybe a stint at a larger German club ala Dortmund, shalke etc first? Or could he step straight into a top 4 prem club? Thanks in advance.

{Ed001's Note - I like him a lot. The reason behind Bayern looking to hold onto Heynckes a bit longer is to give Nagelsmann another year before they swoop. They need to hope someone else doesn't nip in while they are holding off because of his age. That is the big issue surrounding him at a bigger club - how much would his youth hinder him when dealing with the huge egos? No one knows yet because he has not really had to deal with them so far. He probably needs to step up a bit to a club with those kind of egos, a team such as Stoke would have been perfect for him to prove himself in order to be given a chance with a big club.}

13 Oct 2017 17:59:42
Good to see Coquelin, Welbeck, Ozil, Sanchez, Koscielny, Rene-Adelaide and Kosalinac all in training today.

Just Mustafi and Cazorla out now.

1.) 13 Oct 2017 18:29:42
What don't tell me mustafi is injured stoner 😫 That's news to me mate 😂.

2.) 13 Oct 2017 19:03:44
Yep Sanogo,
Did you know Cazorla is out too 😂.

3.) 13 Oct 2017 20:06:47
See this is exactly why we should have kept the woeful Flamini 😂😂😂.

4.) 13 Oct 2017 20:45:11
We could always recall sagna stoner 😂.

5.) 13 Oct 2017 21:51:25
Sagna was brilliant, 100% in my top 5 post invincible players in no particular order
Sagna Kos Sanchez Fabregas and probably RVP are my top 5 I think!
Who are everyone else's top 5 players to since the invincibles?

6.) 13 Oct 2017 23:22:34
62 - like Rosicky, Santi, Nasri and Adebeyor also but they let me down with the exception of Santi

May be switch Santi and Sagna - really like Kola and always a soft spot for Per

No room for Bellerin?

7.) 13 Oct 2017 23:45:46
For me SY Sagna was the best RB in the premier league for many years running.
Belerin might in time force his way into my top 5 and Mesut should be but sadly isn't easily included.
Caz is brilliant but apart from his first fantastic season he's had some pretty poor patches to go along with the brilliant ones.
For me Kos fab Sanchez Rvp Sagna all had a consistently high level of performance throughout their Arsenal careers, obviously RVP had injury issues but he almost always delivered when fit.

Not sure if you've already answered this but what's the score with Mustafi leaving, is he seen as not good enough, a fall out with someone or is he just not happy at Arsenal.

Thanks in advance mate.

Couldn’t agree more Ryan, my favourite player and really sad to see him go. He wasn’t one of the cosy club and wanted to go out and win.

It was him who got us to play so well against City when he got Coquelin sat next to him in the base of our midfield.

A class above all our midfielders and I hoped he got another 12 months too.

{Ed025's Note - shame really stoner, very good player and always played with a smile on his face which makes a change from most of them mate..

Alex Ferguson is regarded as a great manager, have any of his coaches turned into top managers, any of his ex players even.

Not saying that will always be the case but this club is big enough not to gamble.
