Anyone else see the prize money paid out by the Premier League this season.

At Β£139 million for finishing 5th we only got Β£11 million less than Chelsea did for winning it.

Sunderland got Β£93 million for finishing bottom.

That is some serious cash.

1.) 01 Jun 2017 22:16:13
Let's home we can plough the majority of that cash into our transfer targets.

2.) 02 Jun 2017 12:12:41
Good news for the players but not so good for the fans, that money needs to come from somewhere and there is ultimately only one place to get it, the public.
Yes there is advertising money but the advertisement is only aimed at the fans too so ultimately it's 100% the watching public who pay.
Increased transfer fees increased wages increased prices have to follow.

19 May 2017 17:54:35
Holy shizzle, Usmanov has made a 1.3 billion bid to Kroenke to buy his shares.

Only read a couple of days ago that Usmanovs personal wealth went up by over Β£4 billion this year.

Apparently Kroenke hadn't said a definite no.

Sell, sell, sell!

1.) 19 May 2017 18:06:10
Please please sell! We need a change from the top down. I believe Usmanov will do this. And he won't see this club as purely a business. It'll also be a hobby and something he won't want to lose with. Fingers crossed.

2.) 19 May 2017 18:15:52
I was slated when I said usmanov will take over one day. he's the savious imo and itl happen eventually. No top4 would be great bargaining tool.

I knew my avatar would not be wasted :) red dog if your reading this have faith usmanov is here.

3.) 19 May 2017 18:24:10
I'll hold my hands up and say I was against it. Slated anyone who said it. But now we need it. I was against all the money that came with it. But now that money is in football from sponsors anyway.

4.) 19 May 2017 18:50:50
He's a big Wenger fan though.

5.) 19 May 2017 19:12:46
Lol he's not stupid wouldn't slate wenger before he's in. Bad PR all the noises etc are at perfect times he's a clever bloke. If he comes wenger may get a year who knows but he won't accept failure. Finishing 5th won't be a bad thing this year. D16 let's hug.

6.) 19 May 2017 19:23:27
I'd love him to come in, but in reality I don't think it's going to happen. Stan is too stubborn as he's proved recently. Money talks though, so fingers crossed this is an opening bid.

7.) 19 May 2017 19:31:05
Apparently the bid was placed a couple of weeks ago and has been refused. Maybe some others could show interest now.

8.) 19 May 2017 19:44:56
The timing of it all is genius.

9.) 19 May 2017 20:12:18
Come on usmanov! Really good news to see him trying to buy Kroenke!

10.) 19 May 2017 20:59:12
Derby you old sage you. Some of us are like visionaries. Lol.

09 Jun 2016 11:55:40
I was having a read through some of the other pages and found that the Man City page now has people posting, not all City fans I might add.

Anyway back on April 1st someone asked about Gundogan going to City which ended in them asking if they had any interest in Xhaka.

Ed02 gave a lengthy reply of interested clubs, which included City, Napoli and us but his last sentence of that reply said, but Arsenal will be looking for an early agreement.

Somewhat of a shame he will no longer post on here.

1.) 09 Jun 2016 12:06:40
Agree stoner mate. It was a big factor for me visiting this site as well as your banter ladies ;)

2.) 09 Jun 2016 12:40:14
It was a bit of a mine of information over on their rumours page Je, with ed02 answering numerous questions mate.

He also spoke about us having interest in two left backs, a guy called Guerreiro at Lorient and Rico Henry at Walsall.

Hopefully he's not totally done with us and will return again at some stage.

3.) 09 Jun 2016 14:40:05
maybe after two tranfer windows eh. maybe he's giving us the treatment madrid and athletico are due to endure.

4.) 09 Jun 2016 14:27:54
I hold my hands up and say I sent a post in regarding the attitude of certain Eds, at the time I never gave a thought of half the bull they were deleting and only a fraction was actually getting passed in to the page. I sincerely apologise for that. And I really do hope Ed02 returns to the page as the knowledge is second to none, although I do greatly appreciate Ed01 and Ed25s input.

5.) 09 Jun 2016 15:03:13

It's really strange the we have so much interest in the LB position, is Nacho going home? Is Gibbs off?

I hope ed02 comes back for the greater good of mankind.

6.) 09 Jun 2016 15:32:15
Je they're mostly very young lb's. Monreal is 30 I think. It makes sense to sign someone now.

7.) 09 Jun 2016 16:01:58
yes i also remember him being adament that chelsea wouldn't block cech coming to us, because abramovic respected his service and desire to remain in london. even though mourinho publicly stated he didn't want him to and when to myself and i'm sure a few others it seemed an odd transfer to allow when he could of been sold abroad.

8.) 09 Jun 2016 16:38:54
Our LB's are second rate, hence the need to sign a decent one and Rodriguez fits the bill.

9.) 09 Jun 2016 20:26:54
CS I agree mate, age completely slipped my mind and on that note yeah I get why we're on the lookout now, Guerrero- there's been a lot of rumours about this fella lately, talked very highly of but I haven't seen much of him to be honest.
Rodriguez- in my view we've got Gibbs who can do what he does, we need someone who can defend properly n not one who thinks of constantly getting assists.
If we where to go out n get a LB then Gaya from Valencia would be my pick :)

Who would you guys want?

10.) 10 Jun 2016 14:58:13
JG, Wendell from Leverkusen or Alex Telles from Galatasaray/ Inter. Both young Brazilian left backs with a lot of hype surrounding them. In an ideal world it would be a defender who can speak portugese and english, who can help Gabriel to play in the team (if the language barrier is still, for some reason, an issue) even if they don't play right next to each other.

11.) 10 Jun 2016 19:29:59
Interesting NEG, Brazilian? After our last Brazilian LB? Your brave :) just kidding mate.
Both super fast too if I remember rightly

I like kurzawa from PSG too n also Jetro willams from PSV

I wouldn't be to bothered if we didn't succeed in upgrading the LB position this summer, it can wait, we have far more important positions to upgrade.

Being a little selfish I'm hoping for a Belgium vs France semi final.

Let's keep as many of our rivals players in the comp for as long as possible. Same for England. πŸ˜‚

That and I want Torreira signed up and relaxing pre season.

1.) 06 Jul 2018 11:00:58
England v France or Belgium or anyone final would be brilliant mate.
If they can beat Sweden tomorrow night they will have equalled Sir Bobby's boys italia 90 record as our best ever tournament on foreign soil, go one step further and the class of 2018 become our unrivalled most successful side ever away from home.
It's a long way off yet but what a target to chase.

2.) 06 Jul 2018 15:15:42
Torriera looks exactly what we need.

3.) 06 Jul 2018 15:38:32
You watching the game Sanogo, that ref is the prison guard from the Shawshank redemption!

4.) 06 Jul 2018 15:40:18
I’m actually getting very twitchy in regards to torriera! In this game and the Portugal game he has been immense! Go put France out and go further I think other clubs will think 26m bargain.

Just as I type France score πŸ˜‚.

5.) 06 Jul 2018 16:04:40
Yes mate. It not bad so far. I haven’t noticed lol.

6.) 06 Jul 2018 16:22:02
France just scored again keeper howler, yeah hopefully we can get Torriera in the bag asap before soemone else coems in and turns his head.

7.) 07 Jul 2018 09:54:34
I noticed that too Stoner, he's his double lol.

05 Jul 2018 19:16:01
Not sure if any of you guys visit the Arsenal website but good to see the majority of the team back in training.

They're now putting up videos instead of just pics. Unai is getting right in amongst it.

Good to see Rene-Adelaide and Perez back, Reiss Nelson also in the first team squad.

Already a change from previous seasons.

1.) 05 Jul 2018 19:54:01
Its all new and exciting for the coming season. Everyone can make an impression if they really want too.

{Ed001's Note - particularly Darren Farley, he can make a good impression.}

2.) 05 Jul 2018 21:34:51
I think all our hopes are based on Dick changing so many things that have been so wrong for years, tackling in training has to be the first thing he reintroduces.
So many explayers blamed that on out softness and lack of competitive edge in games, Arsene was so worried about players getting injured in training he wouldn't let them tackle but this lead to our players getting injured more in games as they couldn't handle or ride a tackles for real that they weren't properly prepared for plus if training is all cosy then surely that transfers onto the pitch on match days.

27 Jun 2018 20:50:27
What ever you do guys, don't mention ze VAR! πŸ˜‚.

1.) 27 Jun 2018 21:07:43
They started it πŸ˜‚.

2.) 27 Jun 2018 22:01:50
They think its all over, it is now!

3.) 27 Jun 2018 22:36:17
I did but I think I got away with it 🀣.

4.) 27 Jun 2018 23:46:57
This world cups been underwhelming!

5.) 28 Jun 2018 08:20:26
At least Ozil should be well rested!

6.) 28 Jun 2018 08:52:41
You seem to be underwhelmed a lot Eden mate! Transfers, World cup? I think it's been a brilliant world cup so far! Come down to Newton for a pint and we can boost you up for the new season haha.

7.) 28 Jun 2018 12:00:47
Irony never works well on the Internet! πŸ˜‚ I do think it's been brilliant! 😊 I even put a bet on us to win the league! That's how wildly over enthusiastic it's got me! Only a free bet mind! I'm not mental.

8.) 28 Jun 2018 13:16:12
Ze var is good ya.

9.) 28 Jun 2018 13:30:21
That's better Eden!

10.) 28 Jun 2018 21:50:08
Gentlemen, I am from Northern Ireland and very proud of my British culture d the sacrifices my comrades have made.
I am however sick and tired of English commentators ranting on about how wonderful this England team is. They are OK.
Please do us all a favour and commentate neutrally.
God save our Queen.

16 Jun 2018 09:17:13
Apparently David De Gea was suffering with concussion during yesterday's game.

Doctors have confirmed Sergio Ramos was squeezing his shoulder to tightly when they were singing the national anthem prior to kick off.

1.) 16 Jun 2018 10:01:34

2.) 16 Jun 2018 10:38:45
Hahaha that cracked me up. I think Ramos gets a bit of undue stick, most good CBs use dirty tackling but Ramos does so much more than just that, one of the best CB in modern football if not THE best.

3.) 16 Jun 2018 10:58:43
I think we are a little out of touch with what the rest of the football world find acceptable, to be fair
We see players who get touched on the arm but go down holding there face in order to con the refs as cheats where as most countries it's part of the game, Suarez biting people was a huge deal in this country but not in others even the Italian player he bit in the last world cup said it was nothing.
Once upon a time we hated diving but now the English players are the premier league diving kings, Ramos is a brilliant defender Indian mate he just has no limits on what he won't do to win on the pitch.
Apparently Costa is a really nice bloke away from the game but on the pitch he's so not British in his standards of fair play, I think in Britain we have a different outlook to many other countries where all is fair in love war and football.

4.) 16 Jun 2018 16:36:39
I think that's very well put g62 mate. Diving has really been an issue lately in EPL. VAR provides a better approach if not solution.
Ramos- I agree with what you say but I would still keep him in the best three CBs in the past decade.

5.) 16 Jun 2018 17:13:51
He is an excellent CB mate as the club and county and all he's achieved with them he plays for shows.

6.) 16 Jun 2018 17:27:26
Stoner πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ€£.

7.) 16 Jun 2018 22:08:48
Ramos for arsenal!

20 May 2018 13:19:33
As always lots of differing opinions and with Wenger leaving there's definitely going to be a lot of variations in them.

I personally am chuffed he's called it a day and last season would have been even better. It was good to see the out pour of appreciation and love for the guy at the Burnley game, especially from those fans that had finally had enough and spoke with their feet rather than banners and planes.

So change is and has been happening and I've long voiced my dislike of Silent Stan because of the mediocre records of his American clubs where winning isn't the be all.

But the change has been more evident since he sent his son Josh, I think that's his name, over to sort out this change and with 3 new guys in top posts, Wenger gone and a lot of his back room staff out too, then maybe we are underestimating what Josh wants to achieve and not his dad.

I know a lot have concerns about Arteta because that really is a leap into the unknown but with the positive stuff that's been happening then I'm going with the flow because he would have a great team behind him.

The seasons are pretty much done across Europe so all players and managers can't yet be discounted so let's just wait and see.

Lastly, what did Leicester do the season before they won the League and what did Chelsea do last time around before they won the league.

As always we want the club to be positive yet some many fans remain negative, we'll be 6th, will we challenge for the title etc.

Let's see who comes in, players, managers, back room staff and see where we go from there.

It really is a new dawn and something to be excited about.

1.) 20 May 2018 13:55:38
Totally agree Stoner mate, brilliant post.
We are swapping what so obviously wasn't working for the unknown which may or may not work out to be better, but at least we are trying to do something about our situation now and I don't see how that can possibly be a bad thing.
If your car won't start and kicking the tyres hasn't helped for 14 consecutive mornings can it to realy hurt to pop the bonnet and take a look at what else it might be that's stopping it working ?

2.) 20 May 2018 13:58:11
Spot on stoner. Like I said in another post, football is not an exact science and a good vibe is better than a world class player. For me with tha Arteta talk it isn’t so much as if he can do the job but the fact I can see a divide fan base. We need to hit the ground running.

3.) 20 May 2018 14:47:59
If you want people get behind you then you have to offer them a reason to do so, the more often you disappoint them the more of an ask it is to back the same old plan again and again.
So far nether the new coach or the Sven men have let anyone down so why not give them the benefit of the doubt and back them at least until they give you a reason not to.

Last season it was plain to see why we were going to struggle because all the old problems were still there so how could things possibly improve things are going to be different next season whether they will be better or not nobody knows but just the possibility is exciting for me.

Not sure if you've already answered this but what's the score with Mustafi leaving, is he seen as not good enough, a fall out with someone or is he just not happy at Arsenal.

Thanks in advance mate.

Which was why I made comment last week about the Spuds rejoicing that they still had 9 players at the World Cup.

With City 1st and Chelsea our 3rd game in, every little helps. πŸ˜‚

To be honest I want to see how we fair against everyone’s best otherwise we’ll flatter to deceive, much like England just have.

Totally agree Skywalker but it was good to see the team press regardless of the opposition and for players like Aubameyang and Lacazette to score.

We have much better tests heading our way against PSG, Atletico and Seville but yesterday was mostly about fitness along with learning a new way of playing.

It was definitely a flat back four with a DM, Chambers played that role with Ramsey the deeper mid next to him 2nd half.

So it kind of looked 4-2-3-1 with Lacazette up top first half and Nketiah 2nd half. Aubameyang scored his first coming off the left.

Perez was working hard pressing too, as they all where, not sure about his shorts though. πŸ˜‚

Apparently they went straight back to Conley for another training session after the game.
