Would any Ed be able to answer this question. With Emery contract having a "break" within it, when would the club decide to continue into his third year or decide that it's time to end? Does it have to be in the summer of next year, January or at anytime?

{Ed002's Note - I would expect the club and the coach to talk about it at the end of the season.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks Ed, I think it’s fair to say that the club are expecting no less than top 4 especially with the extra funds they have provided in this window.

13 Aug 2019 16:46:46
I'm guessing if we get top 4 that he will stay on the 3rd year or maybe get a longer contract.

13 Aug 2019 18:22:02
Give him a bloody chance!

13 Aug 2019 18:48:21
I am giving him a chance mate, I was just interested.

13 Aug 2019 19:11:15
I'm giving him a second chance, after becoming disillusioned by him last season.
But new season new start and when all said and done he's only had one attempt so let's see what happens as this season unfolds before we worry about next season one way or the other.

13 Aug 2019 19:54:23
Personally I don't understand this second chance stuff.

Fair play to him, he took on a white elephant, when no one else wanted the job.

He is starting to get rid of wengers players who should never be at club like Arsenal . One more summer and I'd say they will all be gone.

If anyone thought this project was going to be easy then your kidding yourself.

Let's get behind emery and the club.

Josh kroenke has backed him, that's good enough for me.

13 Aug 2019 20:09:53
I'm not getting back into why I lost confidence in him last season Mark I'm just letting last season be last season and look at this season as a completely independently.
Works for me mate :-)

My post wasn't directed at you John

I really believe emery can do a job for us

Where would Wenger be without the back five he inherited

Emery has not had that kick start.

13 Aug 2019 20:30:14
So far so good. Last season Emery improved on Wenger’s final season. He needs at least this season and next season to change the failing squad he inherited and impose his methods upon the club.
I just hope he is given a fair chance.

13 Aug 2019 20:48:17
I think Dick can only be judged from now, he’s had a window just for him . Last season was a free hit.

13 Aug 2019 21:24:00
Banbury he has had a season to see who he wants to stay and he wants to go.

Mesut, micky, mustafi and element will free up about 700£ a week and balance our books.

Bring the youth through and a couple of quality signings and we have the nucleus of a very good squad.

13 Aug 2019 21:40:51
I agree Mark Arsene was the perfect man to inherit George's back 5, the two managers were complete opposites with George being the sour and Arsene being the sweet but the crossover years were the perfect blend and by far out greatest ever period, certainly i'm all my years of watching.

This is Emerys time now and what happens this season is 100% on him, if we win the title or get relegated niether will be because of Arsene.
It's time to cut the boy Emery free and let him stand or fall as a man, no more blaming Arsene but equally no more trying to find slender fragments from Maitland Niles or Belerin to somehow contribute any success to Arsene either.
Let the past go and All accept it's the Dick Emery show 100% be it good or bad.

13 Aug 2019 21:57:22
Lets just hope he will get is where we wanted to and should be. Its not about giving him another chance as much we need to see much improvement especially at the back. There’s absolutely nothing personal with Emery but last season wasn’t his best but having said that that’s already behind us we look forward now as we have a much improved front and I’m happy with the back line when we are injury free also our midfield have a lot of creativity.
So we must back Emery and the team.
And if it doesn’t go our way I’m sure mark and other will have other opinion but let's be positive, the season just started and we started with 3 points and clean sheet. Looking forward to the weekend and routing for another win.

13 Aug 2019 22:11:04
99% of fans are fully on board now Moe and it's what we see that will decide if it stays that way mate.
All the talk and the predictions of doom or glory mean nothing it's what happens on the pitch from last Sunday that matters.
3pts and 3 goals better off this season after game 1 than last season, so far so very good.

13 Aug 2019 23:33:23
I like emery and wabt him to be here for at least 5 years the way he celebrated when willoc don't that tackle was great to see.

14 Aug 2019 00:50:55
Malaga it’s ok saying he’s had a season to see who he wants to keep but the truth is we couldn’t get anyone interested in some of our lot due to the fact they were paid too much for the little talent they have.

14 Aug 2019 06:37:53
It takes more than a couple of seasons to undo the damage done in the final years of the Gazidis/ Wenger era. Emery has the difficulty of adding players on a restricted budget, whilst getting players with crazy wages off the books, which isn’t an easy task. Mustafi, Mkhitaryan and Emery to name three.

14 Aug 2019 08:54:53
Back in the 20th century mangers got time and Lee Sharpes fa cup wining goal was enough to save Fergie but in the mega rich 21st century lvg got the sack to go with his fa cup success.
Would Liverpool Chelsea United City Spurs still be waiting on Xhaka to come good after 3 full seasons?
With huge sums of money in wages and fees comes huge pressure and expectation and you simply have to deliver because managers like playyes just don't get 4 or 5 years to turn things around anywhere else but Arsenal these days and I think we've learned that lessons from our mistakes witu Arsene Theo jack ect about swimming against the tide of change.
