Good game from Walcott. More all round striker's game. We look imbalanced in midfield. With this line up move to a diamond with Sanchez and Walcott as the two up front? Sanchez and Ramsey still too many give aways. Cech good value for the extra two poonts today.

Was the result of the day away from home to an in form Leicester . Would of been nice to keep a clean sheet!

But three points off top and we have yet to hit consistent form United have arguably had the easier start (not taking nothing away from them) so the leagues wide open we have seen the best and worst of every team and it's basically all square. And we have beaten the only unbeaten team in prem.

Oh and Newcastle just gone 1 up happy days

Lots of speculation about Cech, but has anybody seen him play in the past 18 months? He was a top keeper, but has he tapered off like Casillas, or is he going to be like Biuffon or Van Der Saar - phenomenal into their 40s? I seem to remember he was a bit shaky in his last full season playing, but not sure TBH.

He wasn't at his best in his last full playing season but has looked really good again this season when filling in for Courtois. Lots did write him off stating the injury that made him wear the scrum cap had affected him to much.

Just struggle to see Chelsea selling him to us anyway. Same as Spurs with Lloris.

I reckon he's still got it, he isn't anywhere near 40 - he's 32 which isn't extremely old for a keeper. I saw him play this season and he had a blinder, making one or two ridiculously good saves with both his hands and legs. I can't remember what game it was but I think it was in a domestic cup.

All in all, I would love him but I'm very doubtful about the possibility.

Hes fine. Still world class. Tbh casillas has come back good. It was Jose dropping him for no reason that was harsh

Anyone else think Santi has changed play a little bit this year. He seems to be rotating back more this year into the covering position and has done some really good defensive work. I thought he had a great game yesterday going forward and on the back foot. Not for the first time this year some of his best work was from deep and in the transition or the tackle.

yyc

1.) Santi is a good player, the issue was that playing Ozil seemed to leave him on the bench and then Sanchez arrived, add JW and Ramsey, as well as AW's need to play Arteta left him as a spare cog.

I love Santi but the issue is that we have too many, small, skillfull attacking players to accomodate them all (hence why we did not re sign cesc)

I say santi should stay, but he will not play if Ozil and JW are fit.

Add me to the Wenger's time has come brigade. I've always tried to understand both sides of this argument, but I can't take any more of Groundhog Day every match day for 8 years. For his sake and ours he needs a fresh challenge. I feel like it's the early 1980s all over again.

But having seen Kroenke run teams in North America, I doubt we will see much change in our perennial aim for fourth. If we get a better manager, we'll be expected to get 4th on the same or less resources, not challenge for the title. For Kroenke, Arsenal is a 'franchise' and an 'asset' in the American league model where revenue and player rights are basically exempted from anti-trust. He's in to protect his investment, not win titles. For that reason I'd even hold my nose and take Usamov - at least he would want to beat Abramovich?

1.) Welcome yyc I can see a tipping point soon mate I honestly can

{Ed025's Note - why..are you going to sign ben shephard?.. :)

I'd love us to win the CL, but this year I'm finding it hard to get excited about our prospects. We haven't really shown much the last couple of years. What I really really want to see is us winning the PL. Not a treble, not a double, just laser like focus on winning the one thing that matters. Even a close second would feel like real improvement and a statement of intent to me, rather than just being there for the CL. Anyone else feel like they'd take winning the PL over anything else this year, no distractions.?

yyc

1.) I'd take winning the PL over anything any time yyc but its not going to happen this year that's for certain.
Both chavs and city have too much for us at present as we didn't plug our leakest holes in the summer.
We are the 3rd best team in this seasons race no question of that and our first aim should be living up to that as a absolute minimum, absolutely no excuses made and most deffinately none accepted, should we achieve that top 3 place with games remaining then maybe we can think again and look at what's still possible
But 4th would be crime this time round less! Well that's unthinkable

That's about how I see it g62. So far we are letting ourselves down on the pitch with needless errors. Hopefully it will get sorted.

Thnks for this Ed. Do you know if Wenger's issue is personal or professional? I don't think there is a Gooner out there who would wish a health problem on him.

It's the Kevin James replacement that hurts the most

We let Kos go so a competitor can get Ramos? We just got our defence in order, I would keep Kos. A top EPL ready defender is hard to find. Ask City. Or United. Or why Chelsea still play Terry.

Been thinking same. Definitely a good choice for the short term. Also he's someone who seems to connect with the fans.

Yes "fundamentals" - I wasn't clear Gunner 62. I agree with you 100%. It all seems a bit plastic compared to Highbury days and the he management of the club at the moment is a shambles. Those fundamentals are terrible. The fundamentals I meant were the size of the fanbase, its historic place as a big club - the big club - in London. And at the moment it still has huge revenue. I'm hoping that'll see us through until Kroenke decides he's had enough and real football leadership comes in. God willing that is sooner, not later.

Just getting back to the forum after a long break. Like your post here: it needed saying. Kroenke's assets could fall quickly in the modern Prem and then it will be twist or stick for hi. Hopefully he will twist and sell out to someone who wants to win. The fundamentals of the club are good. We can come back like Liverpool with just a little investment and a sorted management structure.

I'll disagree Just so things don't get boring. Özil is always analyzing options, that's what makes him class. It's his instinct to seek options, take that away with a selfish mentality and it takes away from his overall game.
