To continue my point 2 games again benfica conceding 3 goals which were individual errors, smith Rowe handball and 2 ceballos mistakes?

Mikel in ;)

Shaqgooner

1.) 26 Feb 2021 08:41:15
To be honest Shaq it's hard to disagree with that point. We were clearly the better team in both legs and played some lovely football going forward but individual errors made it difficult. There was absolutely nothing that Mikel could of done to avoid those errors and the tie would of been 4-0 with nobody complaining.

Arsenal make late move to sign Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid. Contacted 27yo camp expressing intention to pay clause. #AFC making all necessary arrangements (medical in Spain etc) + optimistic

@David ornstein
@ Charles watt

May it happen lads coyg.

Fingers crossed for this.

04 Oct 2020 11:35:20
Hey Eds any chance of Boubakary Soumaré coming to arsenal?

Thanks in advance.

Shaqgooner

{Ed002's Note - UNlikely, I would not think so - there are talks going on with another club and a couple of other offers on the table.}

1.) 04 Oct 2020 11:48:00
Thanks for the quick response Ed.

2.) 04 Oct 2020 17:54:36
Are we expecting anyone else coming in now ed or is it going to be quiet last few days.

03 Sep 2020 08:08:03
Question for the Ed's, what could be classed as a good summer for us outgoing wise in order to try and repair last years overspending? Sorry ed002 I know you don't like talking money.

Also a side question: Would Ozil perhaps joining one of the Middle Eastern teams help

Thanks in advance.

Shaqgooner

{Ed002's Note - A good summer would be moving on Mesut Oezil, Mohamed Elneny and Matteo Guendouzi. The offers for Oezil from the Middle East do not seem to be of interest to him.}

1.) 03 Sep 2020 08:45:39
Ed are arsenal struggling to offload Guendouzi? It seems that a month a ago Villareal were going to take him but everything has gone quiet. Perhaps Lyon?

{Ed002's Note - Yes they are struggling.}

2.) 03 Sep 2020 09:00:29
I think this one will drag on towards the end of the window. I'm sure there will be a few cut price offers that Arsenal will seriously have to consider if they want to recoup funds or bring in more players if they don't beforehand.

{Ed047's Note - considering how good Guendouzi believes he is and that he needs to be playing at a higher level I’m amazed he wasn’t snapped up on the first day of the window. 🤦‍♂️

It’s not often a player who believes he’s that good becomes available, I think a lot of big big clubs missed a trick here.

3.) 03 Sep 2020 09:13:54
Thanks Ed.

4.) 03 Sep 2020 10:12:16
My thoughts exactly Ed047 and I've said the same about him since Ed002 told us his thoughts. Part of me wants there to be no interest in him whatsoever as a reality check and then maybe he'll change his attitude because he's certainly got talent. However, if we can a good fee for him then of course we should sell him. He needs to realise that he needs to earn his place in any side at any level of football.

{Ed047's Note - 100% mate, he’s backed himself into a corner and at this moment it looks like he has nowhere to go.

Arteta has said everyone starts with a new slate this season but I don’t hold much credence in that mate.

We’re once again on the cusp of sorting ourselves out but will we finally do it.

5.) 03 Sep 2020 10:27:37
I'm genuinely surprised by the lack of interest in Guendozi, but given there is an undoubted lack of interest from potential takers and both club and player are determined to part company with each other I wouldn't be holding my breath on getting any decent money for him.
Could he be yet another Arsenal give away just to get him off our books?

6.) 03 Sep 2020 10:32:10
I said it on here 7 weeks ago.
Gwendozey is not 30% as good as he thinks he is.
The only part of his game that can be rated above average us his ability to get between man and ball and draw soft fouls.
He is below average at heading, tackling, making key passes, tactically positioning, shooting, drawing players out of position or making incisive moves in the ball. the list goes on.
Fans on social media might believe the hype but football clubs with proper scouts and managers are aware of his many shortcomings.
He’s worth €15M at a push.

{Ed047's Note - glad I’m not the only one thinking that Shambles.

7.) 03 Sep 2020 12:02:17
The problem isn't Guendouzi the footballer but Guendouzi the man..or to be more accurate Guendouzi the boy. However, don't give up on him, he's young and may learn, in which case he could be a very good player for Arsenal. Time will tell!

8.) 03 Sep 2020 12:55:37
I think he will be a very good player mokey, Just not for Arsenal.
He's burned his bridges at Arsenal and it's time to move on, maybe the lack of interest in him may do his personal development some good longterm. In my opinion he has abilty and anyone who's seen him on the sidelines when a sub can see his passion for the game but he needs guiding that's for sure.

9.) 03 Sep 2020 15:35:00
I remember when he had a good game for arsenal againts the spuds half of you said he’s a future arsenal captain, now he’s because he wants to leave, Hahahah you lot make me laugh,

10.) 03 Sep 2020 16:10:46
Your far to gracious Welsh mate, you really need to toughen up and stop keeping thinking the best of people :-)

11.) 03 Sep 2020 17:42:30
Welsh, that was before he grabbed Maupay by the throat, threw a paddy because Arteta disciplined him and that stated that his level of football is above that of the club. Come on mate.

12.) 04 Sep 2020 00:21:20
When we were struggling under Emery, Guendouzi genuinely did look like a future Arsenal captain. Big mouth on him but he was always positive with the ball and speaking up for his teammates when many others seemed to have given up. Changing your opinion based on the terrible way he's acted since and the way he hasn't added to his game as so many others have under Arteta is just reflecting reality.

13.) 04 Sep 2020 09:38:31
I think the lad needs a massive attitude change but there is raw talent there. To early to say will be one of the best but he will be a good player if he’s willing to listen to the coaching team.
Unless it was a nice offer that would contribute greatly towards getting a key midfield target then I wouldn’t move him on. Maybe loan for a year or clean slate, see if he wants to play for us.
Remember there was a time everyone wanted Xhaka head as there was no way back for him.

14.) 04 Sep 2020 09:51:08
Changing your opinion about something or someone baaed on how people and situations have change is surely the sensible grown up thing to do rather than sticking to your original comment out of stubbornness.

15.) 04 Sep 2020 09:56:54
I thought he was ok nothing special it takes more than one game for me, same as amn I don’t see all the hype yes he can play in a few areas but that’s it, as I said he won’t start in midfield for any of the top 8 maybe 10.

16.) 04 Sep 2020 11:04:47
Yeah but some people seem to take greet pleasure in calling other people out on the things they predicted and got wrong and seem to have a problem letting them go but somehow they aren't so forthcoming in mentioning their own false claims and mistakes from the past, takes all sorts I guess.

Just throwing out there a lil stat about Mikel Arteta

Arteta has managed 53 wins in his 99 games which is two more than Arsene Wenger's 51 in his first 100, albeit the Spaniard has 8 more defeats than Wenger succumbed to in that time.

Food for thought COYG.

Shaqgooner

1.) 06 Nov 2021 14:19:28
Yet Arsene won the title in his first 100 games and Mikel has finished 8th 8th and currently sits in 6th, something somewhere doesn't add up Shaq mate?

Are you counting cup results in Mikels stats mate?

2.) 06 Nov 2021 16:54:57
IMO Wenger inherited a good squad and if you compare the squad wenger inherited compared to Artetas squad coupled with the fact all the teams have gotten better and have more funds at their disposal it’s a interesting stat no need to be pessimistic.

3.) 06 Nov 2021 18:13:25
Hi Shaq I don't think it's pessimistic to question stats that don't make sense when compared to what we all have all experienced.
Did you know Arsenal have never lost a premier league game home or away to Barcelona or Real Madrid, how's that for a positivite stat ?????.

4.) 06 Nov 2021 18:21:33
True but the manager before Wenger got sacked because he couldn’t get the best out of the squad. Where did they finish in League - old Wenger or Arteta… which would you have?

He was wise enough to address our weaknesses adding Paddy, Anelka, Overmars and Petit. He did this and won the double.

Not even close.

5.) 07 Nov 2021 13:50:35
Wenger won the title in his first full season.

29 Sep 2021 22:07:25
Not making excuses for the first 3 poor performances but my mate pointed out to me that our back 5 in the Man City game was Leno Cedric chambers holding kolasinac that's actually crazy poor compared to the current back 5 albeit Leno is actually decent.

Shaqgooner

{Ed014's Note - there should defo be no getting carried away after the Spurs game though.

They were absolute shite! They literally were the Dog and Gun!

1.) 30 Sep 2021 19:47:16
Feet on the ground here ED, Spuds were pants and would have lost to many in the PL on that performance

Brighton will be a good test for us.

{Ed014's Note - my thinking too mate a much better test of how we’re doing.

25 Feb 2021 20:07:30
Ridiculous how people blame arteta for 1 players mistake 😂 come on really might not be your choice of manager but really 🤦‍♂️.

Shaqgooner

1.) 25 Feb 2021 20:17:32
The team is so slow. We're 2-1 down and he brings willian on when we have pepe laca and martinelli on the bench? And don't even get me started on bellerin starting every game when he's awful.

2.) 25 Feb 2021 20:30:07
Completely agree Olber. I’m not Arteta out but his selections and subs are certainly questionable.

ESR is wasted out wide too, his drifting and off the ball play is one of his best attributes, play him to his strengths at least.

3.) 25 Feb 2021 20:44:24
I also thought odegaard was really poor. Offered nothing and he should of made way instead of esr.

4.) 25 Feb 2021 22:09:09
Tierney Saka ERS Martinelli are the stars of our awful season

Martinelli seems to have been frozen out for some strange reason and ERS who makes everything click and without we couldn't create any chances are all has turned into Artetas version of George obsession of subbing Merse.

Some very good points below IMO

European football expert Guillem Balague:

"I find the suggestion that Ozil has been moved aside for his political stance an intentional distraction and very convenient. He has played and has been called up since he made his comments on China and the Uighur Muslims. You have to look at the bigger picture [in footballing terms].

"Why have the last two managers struggled to find a way to fit him in? He is talented, no doubt, but talent is not enough in the elite.

"You have to be committed, interested, follow instructions on the pitch, work hard in training and in the games, with and without the ball, have faith in the group and in the leader. all that is necessary.

"It is very easy to influence Arsenal fans by suggesting there is a hidden agenda here, but why would two managers go against doing the best for their own teams by leaving Ozil out?

"Would it be by any chance that they needed to bring some standards which Ozil did not match? I have the impression Ozil should look at the mirror himself and be honest with what he sees.

"Ozil is not able to impact games on a regular basis and now the manager feels that it is best for the group to leave him out of the Premier League and Europa League squad. ".

1.) 23 Oct 2020 23:37:31
Some fair opinions Shag mate but no matter if we agree or disagree that Mesut should be playing in the starting 11 or even match day 18, not to even be included in Europa or premier?
I find that very very difficult to think is anything but victimisation by the club for whatever reason the club sees fit to victimise Mesut Ozil.
I genuinely think it would be real struggle to get an independent tribunal to accept the club is not personally discriminating against Ozil.
Last I heard the Mesut still held the premier league record for assist per minute played but regardless I don't think there is any question at all that Mesut Ozil is amongst Arsenal's best 30 current players.
While those currently running Arsenal football club have during the last 12 months earned themselves reputation for treating others in any way they wish to.

2.) 24 Oct 2020 00:18:53
Dry interesting - yes.

Enough to banish him from ever playing or to drop him?

What changed since C.V. and why has his agent who is probably closer spoken out so loudly and Ed said it’s Edu?

3.) 24 Oct 2020 01:00:57
What's more valuable to the business?
Ozil, or the Chinese market?

If you want to tell me ozil and Mikel had a fight, and it's about getting the squad to respect the manager then I'd probably believe it. Ozil is fantastic, must be a big influence on the squad.
If you want to tell me he's lazy and can't be in the first 11, fair enough that's a respectable opinion.

But omitted from the squad for footballing reasons? Our best player is not good enough? Has anyone seen our squad? It's absurd and they are treating him and us like mugs.

4.) 24 Oct 2020 12:47:26
I think fans would accept it far more if the club which has been run like a business more and more came out and said that. At least we could make sense of it.

I’ve read snippets from Wenger’s book and it certainly sounds like the board puts the manager in difficult positions without explaining why and even leaks unhelpful statements that really puts more focus on the manager than should be. Eg if we have limited funds then don’t say Wenger can sign whoever he wants.

It makes it look like he’s the tight-ass. that’s not fair. If this is the same again, the board must learn or fans give the manager the heat.

You would have thought they could take less drastic action repot keep China happy.

Hope we get to know the truth as it speaks volumes about how the club is run.

5.) 24 Oct 2020 14:25:25
It's not always possible to know the truth mate but I think it's important to recognise when someone is obviously selling you a fabricated fairytale as the truth.
The less you trust something or someone the more difficult is to get behind them.

The youth seem to be onboard with the managers vision it’s the senior players who need to take a look in the mirror not saying arteta is the answer but saka, smith-Rowe and now lokonga all look promising the senior boys need to do more.

Shaqgooner

{Ed014's Note - Arteta will definitely get time, I’m disappointed that he hasn’t made the most of Torriera, Guendouzi and Saliba, 3 more younger players that could be part of our squad and are much better than others in there.
