From the training pictures on the Arsenal website for tomorrow nights game it was a lot of the young guns with the likes of Cech, Chambers, Mertesacker, Gibbs, Debuchy, Flamini and Walcott.

Might be a first chance to see Bielek and a few others.

Red Dog 81

1.) 26 Oct 2015 15:42:12
Wenger has stated that Cech will start.
I expect the entire back four to change to: Debuchy, Chambers, Mertesacker and Gibbs.
I also believe we will start, others that didn't start aganst Everton: Flamini, Walcott and Campbell. Which means we will be able to rest 7 of the 10 outfield players that started against Everton. We may possibly use Iwobi, Kamara, Willock, Bielik and Reine-Adelaide.
We have difficult matches coming up, away to Swansea and Bayern Munich, so I doubt that many, if any, of the players that started against Everton will play against Sheffield Weds. Personally I would use the three of the youngsters I mentioned and rest all those that played last Saturday. We simply cannot afford any further injuries with Ramsey, Wilshere, Welbeck and Rosicky out long term.

2.) 26 Oct 2015 17:27:51
Willock and Rene-Adelaide are at the U17 World Cup unfortunately as I'd have loved to see the latter play.

I agree on the back four which with Cech in goal is solid enough. Like you I want to see the others completely rested and as I said yesterday, especially Sanchez.

It would be good to see Bielek and Iwobi for sure.

3.) 27 Oct 2015 16:24:01
The absence of Willock and Rene-Adelaide is not unfortunate: future world-beatersdesrve their run-out at the U17 WC. We're lucky to have them.

I understand what you mean, but you know I love our academy products.

#bringbackbenik.

4.) 30 Oct 2015 06:26:55
Wenger on his right-sided options at Swansea…
Campbell and Alex Iwobi. Santi can play there as well but he has become very important centrally. The problem sometimes is that you can destroy two departments if you move one player out. We control the ball better with Santi in the middle.

Evening Ed02, a question for you if I may, I checked back over old posts and saw you were asked on here back in October as to if there was still any interest in Javi Martinez from Arsenal. You replied that you wouldn't think so.

I know at the time he was injured but is now back in the Bayern squad.

Do you know if we actually did have any genuine interest when it was originally reported last summer and as to whether he is now back from injury that we have a definitive interest now.

Thanks for you time.

Red Dog 81

{Ed002's Note - Javi Martinez is of interest to Napoli and Barcelona at the start of last summer.}

Reading that Sanchez is a doubt for Sunday with a hamstring problem.

The result maybe of a pointless 20 minute run out against BHA. It could have been training but it seemed a stupid idea even having him on the bench for that game just to come on and get kicked and risk exactly this.

Red Dog 81

1.) 29 Jan 2015 17:01:06
If that's the case, let's hope others step up to the plate and prove we are not a one man team.

We have plenty of options upfront.
Big loss. Can we cope?

2.) 29 Jan 2015 19:51:21
The most different goalscorers in the league proves we are not a one man team! Now pundits. they all read off the same hymn sheet. When employed to comment on a game that you are paid to watch, the criteria for experience should be based on games you have watched, not played in. I have heard some right drivel this season from ex pro's who know best! Arsenal being a one man team is just one of many poor bits of punditry this season.

{Ed025's Note - fair comment davros..

3.) 29 Jan 2015 21:43:23
tbf after the chelsea and city results we would be slating him if we lost and sanchez wasnt on the bench

4.) 29 Jan 2015 23:18:26
I think you summed it up with 'maybe'. We don't know when he got this problem, so blaming it on his inclusion at the weekend is absurdly harsh.

14 Jan 2015 20:58:23
Schneiderlin and Wanyama going no where this month, both now out injured for at least 3 weeks.

Red Dog 81

1.) 14 Jan 2015 21:21:05
I think we should put in a cheeky £40m bid for the pair, stating "well, you won't have em for 3 weeks, might as well sell em to us".

{Ed025's Note - that proves to me why your a driving instructor...and not a financial advisor dags.. :)

2.) 14 Jan 2015 23:11:26
That's a fair point Ed :-)

3.) 15 Jan 2015 06:23:58
Let's hope they fall down the table over the next three weeks then so we can set our sites on ManU and 3ed!

4.) 15 Jan 2015 08:11:16
they won't make top4 they will drop off at some point. these injuries are massive. also without the beast alderwiereld for a while.

but they have a few easier games now but I expect them to drop points in the next month., starting this weekend

5.) 18 Jan 2015 19:22:39
Well that didn't happen!!

To all you ugly mugs out there have a great Christmas and all the best for 2017.

Goes without saying a huge thanks to all the eds 01,02,07,25 and 33.

I'll leave you all with a top quality Christmas joke to see you through to the new year. 😂😂

Apparently it's impossible to eat 4 dry crackers in one minute.

Always up for the challenge I gave it a go.

I managed three and then choked on a plastic moustache. 😁.

Red Dog 81

{Ed001's Note - merry Christmas to you and all the other posters, even Dagala.....}

1.) 24 Dec 2016 14:11:14
And we hope Dags becomes the new Arsenal manager and steve as his assistant. Then we will have red dog, G62, SLB, SY4 as board members. have a good one.

2.) 24 Dec 2016 15:22:30
Have a great one Willy but you've started on the sherry a bit early mate :-)
If Dags was our manager we'd currently have a front 3 of Walcott Austen and Remy mate :-)

3.) 24 Dec 2016 16:57:44
All the best red dog.

4.) 24 Dec 2016 21:17:07
Haha Merry Christmas boys 😄.

09 Dec 2016 08:34:22
I'm going to be honest and say I was never a huge fan of Welbeck albeit he played better for Country than he did United at the time.

But for some reason I can't wait for him to get back, a potential front 3 of Welbeck, Sanchez and Walcott / The Ox feels like it could be pretty good.

No downer on Iwobi who has been great but Danny's work rate and ability could be key to protecting our left hand side in bigger games to come, that and his pace.

Red Dog 81

1.) 09 Dec 2016 09:33:59
The few games Danny played last season he was excellent and would be a very welcome addition to the squad that's for sure but I just don't see him playing a big part if any this season.
He's had to long term injuries with only 4 or 5 games of football in between the two lengthy lay offs, I think he is going to need to be absolutely 100% before we should even think of playing him again.
What's his expected return date? February last I heard.

2.) 09 Dec 2016 09:46:18
The guy has that arsenal disease, he needs to get fit, stay fit and show us his potential.

3.) 09 Dec 2016 10:00:26
He's due to start training in the coming few weeks so I was anticipating February when arguably the big games start, Chelsea on the 4th and next round of Champions League the week after.

I don't anticipate he scoring a shed load of goals 62 but hopefully making a difference with his other attributes.

Steve I don't know what his injury record was like at United but it could only happen here. On saying that Wilshere has achieved, so far, the opposite.

4.) 09 Dec 2016 10:32:16
Red i think a fully fit Danny is ideal for our left flank I'm sure Monreal would be more than happy to have him there, its just a case of if he really is ready this season at any point.
Jack will be fit all season if he continues to play like he did against Liverpool and should attract a big offer from Wolverhampton Wanderers or the Chicago Strollers in the summer:-)

5.) 09 Dec 2016 12:13:28
62 not sure if you've read it anywhere but Wilshere has been voted Bournemouth's player of the month so we must have missed something.

Loving the wanderers and strollers line mate. 😂😂😂

I'm just hoping Welbeck will get back ready to help out. It's Mertesacker getting back ready that worries me, bless him. 😱.

6.) 09 Dec 2016 13:42:39
We have plenty of players we can sell to raise funds to extend there contract if needed.
Say we offer 200k but they want 250k. We can sell a few of Campbell, akpom, sangoo, Jack, jenks, debucey and even ramsey will more then cover it and top up our transfer kitty.
But this is common sense but the club would rather sell them and keep loads of players who won't make it.

07 Dec 2016 08:22:54
I found this funny from last nights game:

Lucas Perez has scored the same amount of goals in 47 minutes as Tottenham have scored in their entire Champions League campaign this season 😂.

Red Dog 81

1.) 07 Dec 2016 08:26:06
Red Dog 81 - Love it! Where's Raver when you need him? Getting ready for Thursday's in the new year?

2.) 07 Dec 2016 09:23:37
Haha love it mate.

3.) 07 Dec 2016 10:20:02
Also our alleged panic buy has scored more than a certain Mr Vardy. :-)

17 Oct 2016 15:40:14
Just been reading a few things since the game against Swansea, I didn't go but apparently Ozil went ballistic at some of the boys after the swans scored their 2nd goal. Never imagined he'd do that.

Also read that only two players ran further than Walcott, anyone guess who they were?

Lastly we talk of big money transfers and spending money, what do you imagine Iwobi and Bellerin would have cost us had we had to buy them.

Read to that Coquelin made a big difference when he came on too.

It would be nice to hear we've signed up Bellerin, Ozil and Sanchez soon.

Finally, sorry day off and bored, this one for Steve, Wenger has said it's down to the board to pick his successor, not him.

Red Dog 81

1.) 17 Oct 2016 16:18:34
Red I don't care who picks the next manager as long as its simione.

2.) 17 Oct 2016 17:38:46
But who do you think Simieone will pick Steve. 😂😂

Imagine him on the touch line at the Emirates, have to say I'd love it.

3.) 17 Oct 2016 18:36:42
Sanchez and Ozil as the two players who ran further?

4.) 17 Oct 2016 19:18:28
Bellerin and Cazorla 62, bet you didn't expect that. 😀.

5.) 17 Oct 2016 19:55:28
Caz definitely surprised me Red Belerin not so much, I've read many times that Mesut usually covers more ground than anyone else which on the face of is difficult to see how but if you watch a replay of a game some time and just concentrate of Mesut its incredible the work rate he puts in.

6.) 17 Oct 2016 20:13:35
A lot of the fans after the game where saying what a great game Ozil had 62, he is just quality.

7.) 17 Oct 2016 21:09:47
I think the fact that no one has mentioned his brilliant finish on this page speaks volumes about Mesut Red, Any other player and everyone would have been full how great it was, but Ozil? Well it's just its just prety run of the mill Ozil stuff really wasn't it :-)

8.) 18 Oct 2016 08:42:38
Hopefully he signs a new deal soon it meant to be close to completion from what I read.

9.) 18 Oct 2016 14:01:22
I say whack £250,000 contracts infront of Ozil and Sanhez becuse its what City and Real would offer them.
Its a lot of money but end of the day it would cost us £100m to replace the pair or them.

10.) 18 Oct 2016 15:33:01
It's a lot more fun when everyone agrees that Ozil is amazing and stops pretending he's not, like that time when pundits and fans kept calling him lazy and disinterested and I got stick for saying if you want someone who runs around a lot then go and watch Scotty Parker in the Championship. The irony is, like G62 states, Ozil does run around alot, just with a laid back body language.

11.) 18 Oct 2016 17:01:51
Also for large parts of his early arsenal career he was inexplicably being played on the left. Buy the world's best number 10 and put him in a position where he appears quite ineffectual.

{Ed025's Note - worlds best No10..hmmm, i think barca and real madrid fans may disagree eden mate..

12.) 18 Oct 2016 17:16:54
Well. what would they know? :)

{Ed001's Note - neither of those teams has a top class no 10 anyway. None of Messi, Suarez or Neymar Jr. is a 10, neither of Ronaldo or Bale is a 10 either. So I am unsure what they have to do with anything. Ozil is top class, ahead of even David Silva, who is a 10.}

13.) 18 Oct 2016 17:29:23
Eden Ozil played on the left often for Real and Germany. The difference for arsenal today is he has realised he has a job to to now when we don't have the ball, when he first came he was very lazy.

{Ed001's Note - I disagree, even the stats showed he was covering large distances, he was just not getting the ball in the right areas when he first came. Oh and he very rarely played on the left for Madrid, they had Ronaldo there mate. He is still beloved by Madrid fans for the way he ran games from the centre.}

14.) 18 Oct 2016 18:51:52
Ed 01 the first season for us he didn't sprint back to defend or get In position, he would stroll and let players play past him easily, which he improved on greatly. I watched madrid quite a bit and he often played left wing and ronaldo was striker he did play central for real and germany but also depending on personel played left as well.

{Ed001's Note - I never said he sprinted back, I said he was not lazy. As for watching Madrid quite a bit, I will take the word of people who work at the club over you, who always said he very rarely played on the left as Ronaldo hated playing central and it became an issue him being asked to play there.}

15.) 18 Oct 2016 19:22:22
thats why i was meaning playing him on the left did him a disservice and made him appear like he wasnt putting effort in. he doesn't have the pace to track back with pacy wingers and full backs.

26 Sep 2016 11:07:45
I'm just watching the game again and that tackle from Bellerin was a peach, the fact his interception was picked up by Xhaka was even better.

He just looked up and pinged a long cross field ball over to Walcott and in a split second we were bearing down on their goal again.

Bellerin and Walcott on that right side has the potential to be an awesome pairing.

Red Dog 81

1.) 26 Sep 2016 22:34:58
I think the key to bringing out the best in Walcott is to play football at a fast pace.

When we play slow his positional play is pretty poor, but when we adopt a high tempo game, he gets into decent positions.

2.) 27 Sep 2016 01:12:43
The key to walcot is playing games of football.

3.) 27 Sep 2016 07:52:36
I also think Walcott has now got the fact that he needs to defend as much as attack, which is a big plus.

{Ed025's Note - one swallow does not make a summer though red dog, yes he was very good on saturday but he has to put in performances like that every week if he is to be taken seriously mate..

4.) 27 Sep 2016 08:25:56
Totally agree ed, was just going to post something about him, at 27 you'd like to think the penny had finally dropped with him.

He is not the greatest player but clearly has the ability to form a decent part of the squad.

It's like the pundits say, will we return to the same old Arsenal, will Walcott return to the same old Walcott.

We have been here many times before on both fronts but Wenger mentioned we played with steel and style. let's hope the steel is now a permanent fixture mate.

{Ed025's Note - it would be nice to think so red dog, i like theo and think he has a lot to offer but what he done on saturday he needs to do every week, have you seen how hard liverpool forwards work?(ed spits on floor), they hassle an hurry defenders into mistakes and that seems to be the benchmark now, lets hope he gets a good run as he could break into the england side and make himself a few bob with all the fiddles thats going on.. :)

5.) 27 Sep 2016 08:54:24
Yes mate, they are top of the league in miles run, Theo was doing just that and with his pace it should be even better.

You couldn't make up that Allardyce stuff, what a plank. 😂😂.

{Ed025's Note - harry redknap.s dog is now favourite for the england job as his finances are all in order mate.. :)

6.) 27 Sep 2016 09:12:33
What with Venables, Redknapp, Hoddle and now Allardyce it seems like all England managers like dropping themselves in it.

Harry's dog couldn't be any worse than Allardyce.

7.) 27 Sep 2016 12:35:03
Possibly why Liverpool initially wanted Sanchez ed as he epitomises the type of striker who pressures defenders into making mistakes - such as nicking the ball of Cahill. Although maybe that's no great achievement to be fair, that's two in two weeks now where Cahill has been pickpocketed (albeit that the Leroy Fer one was an assault) .

When Wenger speaks about Walcott recently, he says he sees a different player and that he is 50/ 50 nowadays instead of 90/ 10% attack to defence minded - that's probably a little exaggerated but hey ho, it shows you that even the manager thinks he's changed his whole attitude and mindset instead of it being a case of one swallow making a summer or whatever the phrase is ed. I personally think Walcott is a clever footballer, he interviews well (great collection of football cliches in his vocabulary) and knows where he needs to improve, it's just his attitude and workrate to make those improvements has been pretty poor in the past.

{Ed025's Note - i just hope he keeps it up TPG because he will definitely be an asset to the team, he has been a bit of a liability if im honest but i always knew he had it in him mate..we will wit with baited breath to see how it turns out for him..

I'd happily pay Dags the difference if it meant we got him ed25, we could send Dags off to a remote desert island with no internet to write the book! ;-) (joking Dags) .

That would seriously be the type of signing we need, it's not just for this season but the long term too.

So many things about that club have a comedic value right now.

Releasing a photo of Mkhitaryan wearing the new home kit looking like he's 3 months pregnant then having to delete it.

Rooney surprisingly pictured at a McDonalds drive through and Lukaku being the new Drogba.

62 you manage to drag a negative out of every single thing mate.

I think we did just this, assume we were going to walk it, against Everton on Tuesday exactly as we did against United last season and lost 3-2.

No assuming anything, go out and take the game by the scruff and batter all opposition, none of this noncing about garbage.
