Every cloud has a silver lining! At least Utd can’t get gyok now.

Next season is arteta’s last chance in my opinion, he’s got a reported 2/ 300 million to spend that’s a lot of money to come second and win the we beat Madrid cup again, I prey we win something next season, because arteta has turned this club into title contenders we just need that goal scorer and a new number 10.

I really believe with a more settled team without all the injuries we’ve had this season, and then adding a cf will win us the league next year.
The biggest worry for me is Ode’s drop off this season. I’d like to see Nwaneri start in front of him if he continues like this.

2.) 04 May 2025 20:07:05
I agree he should get another year, but context is important - If we finish next season 2nd again but on 99 points do we still want rid?

3.) 04 May 2025 20:54:08
I suppose the question is whether he has improved as a manager or not. Seems the jury is out in that. The next question is who would we bring in who is better?

4.) 04 May 2025 21:26:16
I'm with you SW context is important and for me personally I'd take 99pts and second over 75pt 4th place and a league cup win every day of the week. But I accept for some fans it's all about silverware full stop and nothing else comes into the equation.

Different people have different values and view success in different ways to each other.

5.) 04 May 2025 21:59:41
If he were to go Sallyjanine, if he could be persuaded, wouldn't mind Enrique, or Iraola. With everything in life though, it'd be a gamble as to whether things would improve. You'd obviously like to think so. Two sayings "nothing ventured, nothing gained". and "grass isn't always greener".
So I'm going to declare myself completely on the fence with this.

6.) 04 May 2025 22:48:22
I used to think that maybe we needed someone different to Arteta to make that final step to winning things, but seeing what’s happened to clubs like Manu and Spurs makes you realise that things can go wrong very quickly.

7.) 05 May 2025 11:38:18
To me manager swapping is a bit like a game of pontoon or black jacket HG mate.

United and Spurs have been stuck on 15 for age's and are currently stuck in a continuous loop of twist and bust while we are currently stuck on 20 and if we choose to twist we absolutely have to draw an ace to improve the hand we have. The potential for going bust is huge but should we get lucky and draw that ace then everyone will be happy.

The art of gambling is to never bet more than you are truly prepared to lose and if we are genuinely ready to accept a return to Europa league if things go wrong every bit as much we are prepared to accept the title if things go as we wish then we have absolutely nothing to lose by twisting on Arteta.

8.) 05 May 2025 12:17:05
For the record I'm in with Arteta!

{Ed014's Note - me too Sally but he’s going to have to deliver something sooner rather than later for sure.

9.) 05 May 2025 12:32:32
Hi Sally on a personal basis I'd stick with him too but I accept whatever the club chooses to do and whatever the majority of fans want the club to do.

I've really enjoyed the last 3 seasons more than any of the 15 or so seasons before them including this season, but the thought of a return to the days of the great Arsenal in out shake it all about debates fills me with dread ????.

10.) 05 May 2025 14:08:56
If the club did twist, who is out there that could improve us? Realistically I can’t see anyone who is available and is better than Arteta.

11.) 05 May 2025 15:14:52
And who could foster the same relationship with the players if that is indeed an important factor?

12.) 05 May 2025 16:40:15
Like I say personally I'd stick because i'm not at all unhappy with either the players or the manger but ultimately it usually it comes down to weather the manager has or doesn't have the backing of the majority of the fans. It's been a difficult season with injuries and one or two other things but overall is second place in the league and a champions league semi final and still counting so terrible? Not for me personally it's not.

13.) 05 May 2025 17:18:31
We have been very unlucky with injuries but that exposes another weakness the lack of depth in the squad. Not sure who is in charge of letting young players leave but in the last couple of years we have made some glaring mistakes with players who could have clearly done a job at Arsenal. Then there is the decision to play defenders or midfielders up front when there is young lads itching to get in and show what they are made of.

I still believe in the process but it needs to start bearing fruit sooner rather than later.

14.) 05 May 2025 19:57:08
It's a headache sparky. Now that Saka is back how many minutes will Nwaneri get?
And I'm pretty sure he will be unhappy about that after being such a good stand in.

15.) 06 May 2025 00:33:29
Sparky, we've been selling youth for PSR reasons, like most clubs. It's a great shame, but that's how the financial side is at the moment.

16.) 07 May 2025 16:31:41
Great analogy with blackjack. Arteta has brought the old arsenal feeling back to all us fans. A great club with an amazing set of fans. Challenging at the top of the league and in Europe. I totally understand that silverware is what it’s all about. However the potential for a decade of mediocrity or relegation threat on a hasty decision? For me I’d rather be challenging, with a team who look like they want to play, together and for us. ? for tonight. COYG!

Hi all I’m a long time admirer of the group but never posted, I’ve been noticing for a while now there is a lot of tension here, some people think we should have moved on from the last 2 and a bit seasons which I agree, and then you have a few that thinks it’s ok for no trophies and at least we have moved on from where we were, I agree with a bit of that! But my concern is if we don’t win trophies players will leave to win trophies, that’s how football works, I can’t see saka saliba Gabriel rice staying at arsenal just to come second place, they want to win trophies nobody remembers 2nd place nobody remembers who lost in the final what matters is the name on the trophy, yes we have come along way from the dreaded mid table years, and I’m over the moon with that, but I want to win trophies as a club, to me some memebers just post the same excuses every year, and I hope this don’t happen as I’d love to win the champions league but if we don’t progress surly the memebers who are happy with second and winning the “we battered Real Madrid “cup, have to admit that it’s been no progress in 3 years, personally I think next year if we sign the players mentioned we win the title comfortably, thanks all and thanks Ed’s.

Excellent post New York I think some fans are happy with top 4 finishes but this is Arsenal our aims should be higher!

2.) 01 May 2025 17:49:12
Welcome on board NY.

I see absolutely no sign of any of our top players wishing to jump ship in the foreseeable future in fact everything I actually read or hear from our top players themselves is all about how badly they want to be at the club and how badly they want to win big trophies with Arsenal.

Obviously some fans keep predicting they will all leave us soon but to be fair so far those predictions have proved about as accurate as the countless end of the world predictions have been made throughout history.

Quite possibly the end of the world proclaimers might get lucky at some point in the future who knows, as of course might those who keep predicting the end of this Arsenal generation get lucky with their doomsday predictions too at some point future. But very thankfully there is absolutely no genuine sign of either catastrophic event actually happening anywhere but in people own personal opinions and feelings. Long may both these happy reliaties continue to be what they actually are in reality ????

Up The Arsenal, and of course planet Earth and a continuation of life on it too ????.

3.) 01 May 2025 18:21:36
Welcome Nyg.
In the past probably between 2006 and till the end of Wengers reign we did have players leaving for greener pastures Cesc, RVP, Nasri, Adebayor.
The present squad seem to be pretty settled but having said that could change if we win nothing this season or the next and if that were to happen I don't expect the manager to be there
Take care mate.

Thank you O’Leary! 62 I think you’ve gone off topic a bit there! I’m on about Arsenal not world events, and I never mentioned about players wanting to leave I was just pointing out a concern that if we don’t start winning that’s what could happen it’s happened before! And to be perfectly honest no player really comes out and says they want to jump ship in an interview, nobody including you or I know what goes on in the players head, they are told how to present themselves on tv and interviews, maybe stick to the topic in hand, I don’t care much for politics or world events or world predictions, we all want the same thing and that’s to win, thanks for you’re input the football part.

Maybe next year smh like a broken record! You’ve said that the last 3 season! Surly even you have to admit we havnt moved forward the last 3 years just stuck in a rut, I’m only giving the manager another year because we have a HUGE transfer kitty, if he has a poor start to the season next year, or if we are out of any cups by Christmas he needs to be replaced, can’t blame injuries because we should have squad depth and that’s on the manager and board, every team has injured players every year but it’s only Arsenal that complain, moaning about var or the refs have it in for us pmsl wake up for gods sake, the last 4/ 5 years you’ve been saying next year this next year that! We’ve moved on from Wenger years, yes we’ve moved on and just stopped dead, the coming season is a huge one and if arteta needs at least two big trophies next year pl and fa cup or prem and cl nothing less, that’s the only way he keeps his job for me TWO trophies.
