Some excitement at last with flurry of signings (or imminent signings)
I think we should get Cahill and sell xhaka, jenkinson and mkhitarian to make it a good window and something to look forward to this season.
Our front three will be as deadly as Liverpool's!

Myscorebet

1.) 27 Jul 2019 16:58:54
Unfortunately Xhaka will not be sold for god knows why. We will be deadly going forward but our defence still an issue. Let see if we can add a CB than maybe we can have some hope.

2.) 27 Jul 2019 17:57:32
Wonderful news that Pepe probably is on his way!

But what i cannot simply understand is, if we have this kind of money at disposal, how come we still haven't adressed our big weakness in central defence? I mean, we have not one but two worldbeaters up top but still play mr error himself Mustafi at CB.

3.) 27 Jul 2019 18:46:04
Pepe will make us more exciting to watch next season as would Zaha have done too but he won't improve our overall competitiveness, only a complete change of thinking will do that where our defence is suddenly seen to be as important as our attack will bring any significant improvement.
Going to Anfield will be no less scary with Pepe than without him and Liverpool being home and dry by half time yet again looks every bit as likely unless Emery changes his thinking.

4.) 27 Jul 2019 18:52:07
That's the reason we need to sign Cahill, he has good two years left in him and is free. He has the experience and wisdom to calm our defence. With Sokratis or Holding, he should be able to shore up the defence. Chambers and Mavropanos would be good backups. Next year Saliba comes in and we can sell Mustafi.

5.) 27 Jul 2019 18:55:26
That’s the spirit g62. Crikey mate I feel like you say the same thing in every post just worded a little differently each time.

Btw, where is steve?

6.) 27 Jul 2019 22:58:04
Cahill is better with someone solid next to him, he can’t be the experienced head in a pair - got shown up at Chelsea when Terry didn’t play/ left. Not sure he’s the answer. Him and Sokratis MIGHT work but I’d rather Chambers or Holding.

7.) 27 Jul 2019 23:28:49
Fair enough Qouth I look forward to us going to Anfield and holding our own instead then :-)
At the same time I look forward equally to Brexit being sorted by the end of October and big businesses paying tax at the sane rate as the average worker;-)
If you click your heels 3 times and close your eyes really tight of course it will happen all on its own by magic with absolutely nothing needing to change anywhere take make it happen:-) .

8.) 28 Jul 2019 00:48:25
Cahill is not the answer, please let's sign a quality CB not one who was average and is now well over the hill.

9.) 28 Jul 2019 05:22:05
Are we linked to cahill? I haven't seen anything?

10.) 28 Jul 2019 09:03:27
I think it's because he's available on a free that everyone is suggesting him Eden mate.
We're a London club and the most likely the only club that could offer him European football and regular game time so putting 2 and 2 together he might well want to join us, I think that's what's driving this fan lead story.

11 Jul 2019 15:14:17
A twist in the tale, koscielny wants a release and has refused to join preseason tour. So how many CBs do we need now?

Myscorebet

1.) 11 Jul 2019 19:56:50
apparently wants to buy out his contract. Not the best way to go about things and not what you would expect of your captain. Should have kicked him out 2 years ago and given the money to Rambo.

2.) 12 Jul 2019 07:53:40
We must sell Koscielny for the highest fee possible, as he has shown utter disloyalty.
That still leaves us with arguably our best pairing of Sokratis and Holding (when fit) . We then have a back up pair of Mustafi and Mavrapanos. We also have Chambers and Medley. Monreal can also fill in.

Next season we may have Saliba as well. Therefore, we have ample cover, unless we sell Mustafi and Chambers. More pressing is at RB, as Bellerin misses the start of the season and Maitland-Niles only provides cover at RB at best. Apparently Cedric Soares is available, I have always rated him and at 27 he is an experienced option, at less than £10m. I would also sign Lamina from Southampton. Although nowhere near as good, his style reminds me of Vieirinha and we yearn for a tall box to box midfield player. Tierney would also be a good signing. My starting eleven for next season, leaving out Bellerin and Holding as they will not be fit to start the season:
Leno
Cedric Mustafi Sokratis Tierney
Torreira Xhaka
Saha Lemina Aubameyang
Lacazette

When fit, Bellerin and Holding would come in for Cedric and Mustafi. Of course I would like to see us sell Mustafi and Chambers, to bring in a CB. I would also like to see the following players moved on: Jenkinson, Ozil, Mkhitaryan and Elneny. With such a short period left in the current window, I cannot see as much as I wish to happen, but hopefully we will get started soon!

3.) 12 Jul 2019 09:09:45
If we got them players that would be good.

4.) 12 Jul 2019 13:15:01
Lemina as a CAM? Centre mid yeh, but I can't see him playing CAM

We should ditch 4231, the CAM role is a dying position now.

30 May 2019 14:16:04
I am completely blank, no argument, no logic, no words. There isn't going to be any change no matter what we discuss and argue here, the club is reducing to mediocrity.
But I think yesterday's loss is to be blamed on the kitmen, they left Laca and Auba's boots in Valencia.

Myscorebet

1.) 30 May 2019 14:40:00
Why o why play ozil in this game. He offers nothing in big matches. I’m not saying that he’s to blame as I can’t remember him making many if any mistakes. HOWEVER. What did he actually create. He’s our assist master, top earner but has only managed 2assists this season with the most clinical forwards in the league. and if you compare him to Chelsea’s number 10 hazard, they’re leagues apart. Ozil does get a lot of stick but end of the day, he wanted to be the clubs top earner and that comes with a level of responsibility. Because of his wage demands, we’ve lost Ramsey who does perform on big occasions.

{Ed001's Note - Ozil and Ramsey were unconnected. Ramsey left because Emery did not want him to stay.}

2.) 30 May 2019 15:39:02
I was under the impression Ramsey saw himself as a vital member of the squad, just as important as Ozil and wanted the to match closer to our highest earner something the board couldn’t afford. My mistake tho on that front if Emery just didn’t want him.

3.) 31 May 2019 04:11:31
Ed001 if true that would be a huge kick in the nads. The line fed to the media was that Ramsey's wage demands were extortionate and that's what we were all led to believe.

{Ed001's Note - no it wasn't. The line fed was that Emery felt there was a problem with Ramsey and he didn't want to keep him. Nothing was said about money, people made that up in their heads.}

4.) 31 May 2019 09:03:24
Letting Ramsey go wasn't the problem but letting him go for free was the problem.
He's a very good player when he plays for the team but he doesn't always do that and he's only ever available for 40% of games each and every season.
It's easy to remember the good bits where he was a hero ( there were a few no question) but equally he had some pretty poor displays too where everyone moaned about him, then there is his injuries each and every single season where he misses at least half a season each and every year bar none.

5.) 31 May 2019 11:04:43
Despite the whole team being poor, i am flabbergasted why more people are not absolutely furious with Ozil. As usual, in a big game he went missing, so much so that he wasn't worth the plane seat to get there, and then, in a final, he sulks off (very slowly) when rightly substituted, which was clearly all about him, not the team, or score, or occasion. An absolute disgrace, and i hope he never plays for us again.

6.) 31 May 2019 11:55:20
Not Ozil or Ramsey related. I for one was getting rather excited about the prospect of Zaha. What’s the situation with that now? Papers are claiming ‘it’s dead in the water’.

7.) 31 May 2019 14:42:58
No way for me to know personally, but Raul Sanlehi did mention that AR8 received offers from elsewhere that we couldn't match. There was a hint that, had other contract negotiations reached different conclusions, we may have been in a situation where we could have made a better offer to keep AR8.

Regardless, I wish him well in his time at Juve and beyond.

8.) 31 May 2019 16:26:28
I agree AA mate, I wish him well too and personally I think both he and us will be better off apart than together.
We need someone who is fit for more than half a season each year and he needs the expectations of fans who are used to success on a very regular basis.

9.) 03 Jun 2019 13:15:48
@gunner62 kind of harsh assessment on Ramsey - since the start of the 11/ 12 season he's played 228 out of 304 premier league games for Arsenal, 75% across 8 seasons. Even his lowest appearance seasons he featured in over 60% of the games (13/ 14 and 16/ 17, both 23 apps out of 38) .

Good news for us, Barcelona to sign Griezemann so Laca stays with us. until someone else gets interested :)

Myscorebet

1.) 15 May 2019 19:34:33
To br fair were Barcelona ever really interested?
If you were given the Barcelona job tomorrow would Lacasette be top of your list?
For us he is absolutely brilliant but on a world wide scale I'm not convinced the very very top clubs have him on their radar.

2.) 16 May 2019 02:52:06
Do you guys read this sight? he's way way down on their list. You were a top contributor g62.

1.) 31 Jul 2019 09:28:00
He is my score bet but I think we are looking towards a different way of buying! In buying Leno, Torreira, Pepe hopefully Tierney, Guendouzi Martinelli etc we are now buying young players with potential sell on value ( hopefully we are successful enough not to have to sell ) rather than buy for good money 29 / 30 year olds with no resale value. This is short termism ( is that a word) otherwise Toby plus Gueye from Everton would have been a steal . Also think lots of clubs missed a trick on buying Trippier - right age great price . I agree with the current policy . I expect a young centre back to battle with Holding and Sokratis to partner and help . Eventually think we are trying to do things properly! Would sell Kos Mustafi and El Neny and get that youngish good centre back! If possible Coady not Dunk COYG.

2.) 31 Jul 2019 10:56:19
Scrap the Trippier bit 28 years old! Tierney the way forward COYG Possibly Bielik Mustafi and Kos on way out hopefully to pay for centre back!

3.) 31 Jul 2019 11:36:39
I like the thinking but you've still got to buy right and get the best out of the players you buy.
Xhaka is how old but worth so much less than we paid for him
Mustafi the same not to mention Welbeck and others who weren't old when they arrived

It's more about buying the right people to fit in with what you are trying to achieve and how you plan to try and achieve it, it's absolutely crazy that Mesut Ozil arrived a 25 year old superstar and now we can't give him away for nothing.

4.) 31 Jul 2019 12:49:39
Pretty sure Xhaka Mustafi and Welbeck were bought two or three years ago! I`m talking about the new policy and the people implementing it . G62 do you disagree with any of the new signings Leno Torreira Guendouzi and hopefully Pepe and Tierney as well as Saliba and Martinelli. We disagree again on how our glass is filled - mine still half full COYG As for Ozil maybe changing the personnel around him will shall we say invigorate him again!

5.) 31 Jul 2019 19:41:33
I tend to not worry about how much liquid is in my glass Sussex mate only what it actually tastes like.
I've been to different pubs and drank the same make of beer but the taste has been complety diiffernt simply because one landlord kept his beer well and the other didn't.
Papa was no spring chicken when he arrived but has been an asset while Litch has struggled.
Leno Torreira and Guendouzi have been excellent signings but they were the work of Sven who no longer works for Arsenal.
Let's sample this seasons vintage before before declaring it either an award winning brew or drain cleaner.
Let's see what our chief brewer has learned from last season at St James Park and Anfield before giving our predictions for a vintage year or more spoiled grapes.

6.) 31 Jul 2019 20:51:14
Where’s the fun in waiting though! Go on get excited don’t wait! 😂 Can’t be as bad as Terry Neill etc 1980 ish - 1885 ish COYG.

7.) 31 Jul 2019 21:59:57
I'm niether excited or despondent about the new season Sussex mate as I simply don't know what will happen either way, I'm hopeful of Emery changing his ways in order to make us more difficult to score against and if that happens then I would be excited.
I can't tell the future any more than anyone else can but I genuinely don't think we will suddenly become the first team to challenge for big prizes with the win 5 3 philosophy, It could happen of course but then again I could fall off my unicorn and land in a fairy dust filled oasis:-)

8.) 01 Aug 2019 00:55:51
62 mate, you have a valid point on the team management game structure and tactics, but you’ve got to get excited about the way the summer is going signing wise and the prospect and talent we trying to build.
I’m sure the board will look at Emery differently if they didn’t see any improvement. As Sussex is saying we look like we are building a team with young talent and not too young too. Let’s wait and see what Emery will do because from watching the preseason games we look identical to last year “I know it’s only preseason” but we still concede because the same silly mistake or players not tracking back.

9.) 01 Aug 2019 10:27:58
It's exciting to be signing players Moe because new players bring new hope and like you say preseason is all about fitness and results and performances good or bad are traditionally poor indicators of what is to come.

As for getting excited about the season well I'm hopeful more than excited because where as with Arsene I'd given up any hope he might change with Emery we are only one year in and he might change still.
Newcastle and Liverpool games will tell answer a lot of questions for me Moe mate.

Laziness. Its like a bloke ignoring a world of potential partners and just marrying the girl next door. We don't need to look next door for our requirements.

5.) 31 Jul 2019 11:40:29
Depends who lives next door Epping mate, if you grew up next to Kate Middleton you not have been to worried about what the rest of the world had to offer :-) .

6.) 31 Jul 2019 22:31:19

05 Jun 2019 12:38:24
What are your predictions for us in the next few years?
I am going to say we will finish fourth next season and win the title the following season.
Over to you.

Myscorebet

1.) 05 Jun 2019 13:27:14
7th unless we sign big if we sign decent players as in a commanding cb then we may push for 3/ 4.

2.) 05 Jun 2019 14:05:45
Over the next couple of years we'll try really to regain that top 4 spot but will eventually drift till we're a some-what reliable mid-table team.

3.) 05 Jun 2019 14:17:26
As we stand I think we will do well to hold United off and retain 5th but there are so many variables as to what might might not happen between now and August it's impossible to call next season with any degree of confidence let alone beyond that.
If our defence is organised into an effective that doesn't concede as many or more chances as we create then then anything might be possible but if Emery continues his and Arsenes shared philosophy of happy to win 5 3 but not win 1 0 then I'm pretty sure we will continue to slide.
It's a fools paradise philosophy that has never been successful yet beyond cup competitions where the opposion you face isn't always that strong and I doubt it ever will be
Successful on the big stage.
Over a 38 games season the after you shot sharing approach can only end in failure whether your target is the title itself top 4 finish or merely survival in the premier league, the worst defences usaully end up close to bottom of of each perspective group.

29 Apr 2019 16:15:11
I am still trying to recover from yesterday’s defeat and where that has left us in the season now.

Still hoping that we can win the Europa league and get in to champions league…. fingers crossed.

It is absolute necessary for us to be in Champions league otherwise I fear we will not only loose our status but fall further down in the league, recovery from which will be a herculean task not to think of how long it may take.

It has been a strange season where two sides are fighting toe to toe for the title, next four teams trying best to not consolidate their positions in top four and the next four teams showing enough quality to threaten the status quo next season.

Since yesterday afternoon I have been occupied in pondering over all those what if events, if Aubameyang had scored that penalty against Spurs, if we have won the last three games and so on.

We have done most things right this seasons in terms of our results against the so called top six, what we have missed is putting up a run towards the end of the season and we have just fallen apart in our away games.

I am not at all going to blame Wenger or Emery for this fiasco and the blame completely lies with the board and the owner.

Players need to deliver on the pitch and unfortunately we don’t have the players who can stuck in there, I mean how difficult is it to understand that we don’t have to lose a game. The players just can’t respond or adjust to the situations in the game and that is the lack in quality we have. We have always gone for the leftovers rather than top quality.

If at all there is any wish for change in direction and we loosen the strings to invest in the squad, champions league is a must or even with the will we may not attract any top players.

Myscorebet

1.) 29 Apr 2019 17:16:50
Agree with most, the season as a whole, now looking back was going ok until this last three awful games in a row.

2.) 29 Apr 2019 18:36:23
We can’t look back and say what if, we can only look forward to what we can actually do now. Also you can’t be biased when looking back. we can also say what if West Ham took points off us at the emirates when they should have, or what if Deeney never got sent off and AMN never made that last ditch tackle to save the open goal. This is football don’t beat yourself up over the past.

Nobody had us in the mix for top 4 at this stage of the season, we have 2 viable routes into the champions league with 4 games hopefully 5 games of the season left to play. We cannot blame anyone for this season, we all knew it was a transitional period that was going to be made harder with the lack of CL football and funding. if we manage to get a CL spot then there is nobody to blame what so ever as we would have over achieved, which I feel we have done even if we fall now at this last hurdle.

3.) 29 Apr 2019 21:25:09
We all know top 4 is only an option because others have been so poor too rather than us being better.
I never expected top 4 this season but I did expect us to become more resilient defensively, that in my opinion is where people are so disillusioned with Dicks first season not so much missing out on the 4th place finish.
4th place would be compensation for no improvement rather than proof of it should we somehow manage to get it in my opinion.

4.) 29 Apr 2019 22:15:16
Gunner, its not about all that, its about we will get what we deserve and we will finish where we deserve, regardless of the rest.

5.) 30 Apr 2019 08:26:55
No matter where we finish Steve 4th or 6th our team is no further forward 12 months on from Arsene leaving and the reason we wanted change was because we weren't happy with how Arsene did things.

19 Apr 2019 15:42:57
Do you think Emery's knowledge and experience of the la Liga will help us against Valencia? Also, i think we will beat Chelsea if we meet them in finals.

Myscorebet

1.) 19 Apr 2019 16:15:20
If we both should make the final I think it might cone down to who needs to win the most, if we finish 4th and Chelsea 5th or 6th then obviously Chelsea seasons champions league ambitions will depend totally on the result of the final and of course it's vice versa should Chelsea finish 4th and us 5th or 6th.
Should United pip us both into 4th place then wow the stakes would be very very high in the Europa league final for both teams, there would be no hiding place for any player or either manager in that final that's for sure.

2.) 19 Apr 2019 18:00:09
I think the team who finishes 4th will have an advantage in the final, less pressure, but the bonus of sticking it to the other team and keeping them out.

3.) 19 Apr 2019 19:45:47
The champions league place is real prize Eden mate and the competition itself is still very much the champions league B league edition that it's always been that's why all big clubs and fans of Arsenal Chelsea City United Spurs and Liverpool all desperately hope to avoid being in it each season.

It's always nice to get a trophy but once champions league football is secured for next season the Europa league will suddenly be downgraded by the club who have successfully avoided being in it next season.

4.) 20 Apr 2019 20:48:44
Ithink his knowledge of the Europa league and playing Thursday sunday is the key. We have done better than chelski on our games after playing on a Thursday. They have struggled.

Klopp is a great manager G62 and he has always built good teams. Our bad luck is that we are stuck with an owner who is a businessman and obviously lacks the European passion for the game. If he or his management had any ambition, we would have got Klopp when he was available, Pep had himself said he would have liked to managed Arsenal and when he was available the management was happy with the business as usual of getting 4th and passed on both opportunities. Let's give Emery another year and see where we get to.

Only chance of Spurs losing out on Champions League next season is that we win 5-0 against Burnley and Everton beat spurs 4-0 or 3-0 and they also lose to Liverpool in Champions league final! I wonder what the odds are on this scenario :D

On another point, best season outcome will be we win Europa League, Liverpool win Champions League, City win Premier League and Watford win FA cup it would be a deserved outcome for all!
