Hi Ed,
Do you know if any of the players that we are happy to let go have any genuine interest from other clubs or are in the advance stages of negotiations?
also, this may not be the kind of information you know so sorry in advance if it's a question you cannot answer.
but we have previously terminated players' contracts (Ozil and Abua) do you know if this is a route that we are still willing to take (I am thinking Pepe for example) or have we moved on from this line of thought and trying to recoup decent money for our players now?
{Ed002's Note - Yes there is interest in players but I don't know what an "advanced stage of negotiation" is. terminating contracts can be hugely expensive for the club.}
1.) 19 Jul 2023 11:30:34
sorry didn't explain myself properly, by the advanced stage of negotiation I meant, price agreed with clubs, medicals booked, and anything more than just inquiries made.
Thanks again for all your effort with us Arsenal fans.
{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}
2.) 20 Jul 2023 14:54:38
thanks, ed.
16 Jun 2022 12:20:36
Hi Ed, I saw Fabian Ruiz to arsenal rumor surface, having a loot through you mentioned back in Feb that his agent thought Arsenal could be interested in him, have you heard anything recently to suggest that he is a player we might be looking at? I don't know much about him if I am honest, only what I have read recently, do you believe he would be a good target/ addition to the arsenal?
{Ed002's Note - The only new thing is that his contract renewal seems stalled.}
1.) 16 Jun 2022 15:41:20
Afternoon Ed. Any truth that arsenal have activated the release clause of Fabio Viera from Porto plz?
{Ed002's Note - Fabio Vieira (AM) Porto want to keep the youngster and have no intention of selling. Previously Arsenal, Bournemouth and RBL have had approaches turned away but Arsenal could look again. Has also been watched by Spurs, Leicester, Wolves and Liverpool.}
16 Jun 2022 12:16:19
Afternoon Ed, you mentioned a few days ago that Arsenal had a €60M offer rejected for Victor Osimhen, I keep seeing statements suggesting that we are looking to bid again to the value that Napoli is asking for (which I really don't see arsenal doing. DO you have any additional info or knowledge regarding this transfer? IE if arsenal would actually be willing to go that high or if these reports are just clickbait.
Thanks again for all your work on this page.
{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of anything new.}
1.) 16 Jun 2022 14:16:09
With all the clickbait and insane transfer stories, I really am so grateful for this site. Naturally, I can't help but read all these stories, but before getting carried away I always wait for clarification here first. Cannot beat this site!
{Ed002's Note - Thanks.}
2.) 16 Jun 2022 15:58:01
exactly the same Lefty mate, I read allllll the stories, but don't get carried away unless there has been a discussion on here and ED, s have had a say on the matter.
{Ed002's Note - I would need to ask someone.}
09 Mar 2022 12:35:18
with the discussions happening about whether Marcus rashford should leave Man Utd, I was wondering what everyone's thoughts would be on him leading the line for the Arsenal.
HE scores about 1 in 3 looking at his goals but not sure if he has had a sustained run in the central position?
and would the Eds have any information on if arsenal would be interested in him at all?
{Ed002's Note - There is interest in him from elsewhere - but none from Arsenal at this time.}
1.) 09 Mar 2022 13:21:12
Not for me.
2.) 10 Mar 2022 01:09:16
Not for me either. He’s reached his potential and his potential won’t get him in the England team from here on.
3.) 10 Mar 2022 16:33:17
Wouldn't go near him.
4.) 10 Mar 2022 18:11:56
He has had over 70+ goal contribution in the last three seasons including this one. So this is a off-season and shouldn't be written. Probably dipped because or Ronaldo, although he seems to most played on the left. Still young and British. Would work better if we don't resign Laca and still bring in a stylist no.9.
5.) 10 Mar 2022 18:14:15
Massive fee, massively overated, no thank you.
6.) 10 Mar 2022 22:32:14
I'd give him a chance. As long as he didn't stunt the chances of our star boys. I read a suggestion that if Laca stays he could play further back and have Rashford in front of him.
7.) 11 Mar 2022 05:14:33
Please no, if that scenario, who doesn't play?
8.) 11 Mar 2022 06:37:53
For me the guy brings too much baggage. I don't rate him over what we have he ain't all football. He brings off pitch attention to himself. We don't need media circus. A point Alex Ferguson made by getting rid of Beckham at the peak of Beckham career. The extra lime light just brings disruption to the team. Having said that I'm not the manager and I'm not edu. And at the moment my trust with them.
9.) 11 Mar 2022 20:57:05
I don't mind that he brings media attention. He holds a corrupt and inept government to account and that should be encouraged.
However, I'm not sure he's a great fit for us and despite being a talented player he's not what we need. Our striking search should focus on someone more along the lines of Giroud or Laca but with more end product.
10.) 12 Mar 2022 13:36:41
Signing him up for the Houses of Parliament, yes 100%. For us, maybe, but I see him more as a left winger rather than CF.
11.) 13 Mar 2022 02:24:07
Our history shows when we have taken man u players they have not performed well enough. For me we need someone who will put everything on hold while they are with rightly or wrongly their commitment to the club should be 100% club first everything else second. Marcus rashford is a great guy from what the media has shown. Arteta like pep may hold out n wait for the right striker and rely on the team collectively to bring in the goals. We are not short on goals we are unlocking defenses and scoring goal. N once partey sorts his accuracy out boy r we in for some pleasure.
12.) 15 Mar 2022 06:45:25
Definitely not…. An insider I know exceptionally well who has worked at United for many years said he is definitely not the most popular person around the club. His ego and attitude is on another level. So for one I wouldn’t want to see him at Arsenal.
{Ed014's Note - I’m with you mate, let them keep yet another over rated player.
13.) 15 Mar 2022 06:49:45
I like Epping Gooners reply.
But maybe you will find that it’s really his mother that should sign for Parliament.
She’s the grafter he’s just the front man.
25 Jan 2022 14:36:01
Ed's I know you have given who our transfer targets are and the information is greatly appreciated, can I ask if you have any info on how many arsenals would be trying ideally to get through the door in Jan?
I felt we were a bit light in the center of the park before we let AMN go so I am hoping for 2 Central Midfielders and a Striker.
Melo and Gigi seemed to be gathering pace across a lot of the media outlets, do you believe we could be looking to bring in more than 1 central mid?
{Ed002's Note - It should be able to complete the Arthur Melo loan if the club will agree an obligation to buy, else they will need to look to the other options they have. I would not expect two strikers in January but there will be a push to add one, pemanent or loan.}
1.) 25 Jan 2022 15:54:39
Thanks Ed002. Much appreciated.
2.) 25 Jan 2022 21:54:46
Cheers Ed.

With potential signings coming through, I think our squad is looking in great shape. I am not convinced about the Noni links and think that would be a bad choice of money spent, I also don't know much about the CB that we are apparently chasing, but they would be the gaps that I can see.
Position 1st 2nd
Gk Raya Kepa
RB Timber White
LB MLS Calorfai
RCB Saliba
LCB Gabi Kiwor
DM Zubamendi Norgard
CM Rice Merino
AM Odegard Nanweri
RW Saka
LW Eze Martenlli
ST Goykers Havertz
Extra useful squad players
Zinny (CB, LB, DM)
Jesus (RW, ST
I would sell Trossard
People might have a few different starters than I have, but if we can get a good player to complement Saka (not Noni) and another CB then I think we can have 2 strong teams and a very useful squad.
1.) 08 Jul 2025 20:12:24
Yep - shaping up nicely.
Just don’t think these are quite strong enough:
LW Eze Martenlli
ST Goykers Havertz
Add - Rodrygo and that changes tings completely
Other concern is Saliba cover
Not convinced with Merino in epl as big downgrade on Rice nor Calafiori as a LB in epl. Both ok for cup and Europe plus options but Merino not mobile enough - does offer a goal threat.
Zinny (CB, LB, DM) - please sell.
Jesus (RW, ST) - please sell and buy Watkins
Sell Trossard or Martinelli - probably Trossard although a good supersub.
Looking like a strong starting 11 compared to last year and a far better bench which is good. I’m being very fussy and demanding. Appreciate the above will annoy people.
2.) 09 Jul 2025 02:32:42
I think White is our backup RCB, but that explains why we're going for Mosquera/ another RB with Tomiyasu leaving.
I think if we add Rodrygo or Eze, Norgaard, a striker and an RB, that is a hugely successful window. I don't think we'll spend much more unless there is a large outgoing. We also haven't considered any of the youth team potentially breaking through, but from what I have seen of Jeorge Bird's blog, only Dowman looks poised for opportunities.
3.) 09 Jul 2025 09:47:31
Wire there is a defender recently promoted to train with the first team and play with the u23. For the life of me I can't remember the name.
4.) 09 Jul 2025 10:10:05
I would prob agree with most of what you have put SY tbh
I think EZE and Martneeali could be a good combo on that left, both play differently, so it gives us a good balance depending on what the game needs.
I agree on the striker front, I am a Havertz fan tho, but not as first choice but I think he is a very good squad player to have, I am not convinced by goykres (I know I have spelt wrong) but happy to be proven wrong, I just don't think strikers coming from the portugase leage are playing at a high enough satanderd week in week out to compare to the prem.
5.) 09 Jul 2025 20:19:14
You are potentially right on the striker - not 100% on him but we aren’t paying a huge amount of money so buying talent with question marks next to them.
We seem to lack ambition.
I’m not a fan of Havertz and being the most expensive player in the squad really annoys me as we really messed up that negotiation and didn’t even k ow where to play a player we didn’t need. Hope we upgrade two strikers and a CAM. Kai is an expensive luxury - not creative like Ode or deadly infront of goal like a striker we don’t have. He’s a plan C and hoping we strengthen that he really is plan C. Nothing against the guy, he tries, puts effort in and has scored goals.
We have to get serious or accept another 2nd place and no funds for a new manager.
6.) 09 Jul 2025 20:25:58
Martinelli could add something and could be a second choice striker but he’s not the brightest for offsides despite his pace and that’s when he can look along the line from the wing…. May be if we played the ball forward faster it could help but he’s just regressed under Arteta. I’m not sure but happy to have him in squad
Although if it takes selling him. Trossard, Jesus and Kai so that we go out and get a proper 100m striker, Rod, Watkins and Eze. Rather than bargain versions of what we need - then do it. We went in with ambitions but look where we are now….
27 Feb 2025 09:51:17
WHAT IF. haha i won't do another one, even I cannot be optimistic about winning the title now.
I am an Arteta fan, but it was so frustrating last night when he didn't bring on a young striker. No one on the pitch was making the right runs or seemed to have the intent to go and score because none of them have a striker's attitude, which is different from any other position, I believe.
someone mentioned he might be trying to prove a point to the board, which I get, but 1 goal in a game we seemed to be in control of for the most part would have kept us in the race a little longer.
he has to give one of them a chance in the next game, this could have been another Saka and Smith-rowe moment where one of those young talents takes their chance.
not the season we all hoped for, but 2nd place is a must now, and perhaps a great run and knock out real Madrid in the Champions League will give us a few more nights this season to cheer about.
1.) 27 Feb 2025 10:52:48
Arteta is stubborn, HG. A lot of his good “decisions” over the last few years have been by accident and caused by injuries to other players forcing his hand.
He didn’t fancy Saliba but injuries meant he had to play him. Kai Havertz upfront- that’s wasn’t why we signed him. Lewis-Skelly- because Calafiori is made of balsa wood. I’m sure there’s a few more examples.
It feels like there needs to be a no man in there somewhere to question him and his decisions sometimes.
25 Feb 2025 08:59:30
WHAT IF THE GAP IS ACTUALLY ONLY 2 POINTS!
stick with me fellow gunners
A Newcastle win this midweek (they will want to lay a marker with the cup final approaching) and we beat forest the points are 8 and we have a game in hand
we win our game in hand and the gap is is 5 points
we have them with 3 games to go, we win and the gap is only 2 points!
that means there are 9 games this season, 9 games where we need to match their results and all we need is for them to lose 1 of those 9 when we win.
we have players retuning, we can surely only get better, more fire power, and hopefully that weekend result gives them the kick they need to not jog once more this season.
so again, what if the gap is actually only 2 points!
1.) 25 Feb 2025 10:01:48
Great positive post Hampshire mate. I know Liverpool had a meltdown last season but I just cannot see it happening. For me to win the prem you have to be good away from home but the clincher is your home games at your stadium must be a fortress a absolutely definitely 3pts irrespective of who your playing. Sadly this season like last season our home force as got us big time. Saturdays performance, godless draw against Everton,2 nil up against the Villa, twice being in the lead against Liverpool. Positivity is great but I cannot see it happening this season.
2.) 25 Feb 2025 10:17:09
I love reading the delusional posts of arsenal fans.
3.) 26 Feb 2025 02:45:01
Be nice Endo. It's definitely a possibility and I've always maintained that the title race is far from over despite what pundits and the media are saying. Tbh, I feel that they are building us up just so they can lock us down if we fail. That makes for a great story for them. We just need to continue winning our games until it is mathematically impossible for any other team to catch up to us.
4.) 26 Feb 2025 07:42:13
Title race is still well and truly open - just this post (and almost every other post from arsenal fans) is utterly ridiculous. I am by no means writing anyone off or writing our name on the trophy. Just they arsenal lads need to be realistic.
5.) 26 Feb 2025 08:03:57
Why is my post utterly ridiculous.
I was making a point about our home form.
What is utterly ridiculous in that.
6.) 26 Feb 2025 08:21:35
Hi Dracred, you are right not to be over confident mate as football does occasionally throw up crazy outcomes but 11 points is an awful lot to make up at the half way stage the season and with only a quarter of the season to go making more than 1pt per game is like expecting Cliff Richards and the Bachelors to win gold in the winter Olympics 4 man bobsleigh, not totally beyond the imagination but I doubt the bookies would be looking to lay off any bets placed on it happening ?.
7.) 26 Feb 2025 09:11:03
haha at no point did i say that we would win the league, and my post starts with WHAT IF
I was simply trying to raise the spirits of my fellow gunners as we have taken a bit if a battering this last week.
clearly the gap is not 2 points it is 11, but what's the point in writing the season off in Feb, we have and Liverpool have thrown away good leads and lost prem titles in the past, so as a fan base we need to find ways to believe we can win and then see what is possible.
The sense in me says that Liverpool will win the title at a canter from here. but the ever optimistic fan in me says we are going to over take you at Anfield with a brilliant 3-2 win and snatch the title from you. haha.
8.) 26 Feb 2025 14:56:19
That may be so G62 but Hampshire is right too. We are 11 points ahead but you have a game in hand. Win that and the lead is down to 8. We also have a game to play against each other and if you win that too, the lead is down to 5 and that is definitely catchable. Still, it is much more exciting than seeing City run away with the title each season so I'm just enjoying the ride for now.
9.) 26 Feb 2025 14:58:56
Love it, shame we haven't got a striker though lol.
10.) 26 Feb 2025 16:34:59
Hi Hampshire mate, I know you wasn't saying we'd win league and there is absolutely nothing wrong with trying to raise people's spiritsin fact i think it's brilliant that you are doing that mate ?
I'm just having a laugh as personally I'm not disheartened in the slightest, we'd be pretty unfortunate to have another season like this one with injuries next season mate and who knows what the summer window might bring, if we can do second place this season of all seasons then I think we're going to be more than ok moving forward.
Up The Arsenal ?.
11.) 26 Feb 2025 18:01:59
If we had Saka Martinelli and Kai it would still be very slim but possible, but as it is i wouldn't even make us favourites for 2nd.
Imagine Liverpool we playing a front theee of Diaz, Endo and Elliot.
12.) 26 Feb 2025 18:21:51
I agree SW, imagine any team being without so many of ther top players for such a large part of the season.
Second is in my opinion within our capacity to secure even with our depleted numbers but it certainly isn't a given, evey point and evey place in the premier league has to be earned. We like all other clubs simply have to fight to finish as high as possible. Slot will be very aware that complacency is going to be the biggest threat to their title challenge now, and we should be just as aware of that same threat to our 3rd successive top 2 finish.
21 Aug 2024 20:21:13
Just curious,
how would people feel about sterling as cover for Saka and Mart/ Tross
HE obviously wouldn't be a stater, but we could do far works as cover and he obviously has good experience with big pressure games and Europe.
1.) 22 Aug 2024 03:08:09
No chance. Doesn't fit the profile we need: too expensive, best years behind him, and would never accept being signed as cover. Selling Smith-Rowe then pissing away the funds on Sterling would upset me a lot!
2.) 22 Aug 2024 08:29:36
I am with you all the way there wire mate.
3.) 22 Aug 2024 14:25:04
yeah TBF I am also with you on that Wire.
I hadn't thought about the ESR part.
4.) 22 Aug 2024 20:08:40
No and would rather have ESR.
29 Aug 2023 15:05:08
Just read a start than in the first 3 games of the season, Haverts has created the 2nd most chances of any arsenal player with 5 chances only behind Saxa with 9.
can you imagine the difference in opinion if let's say 3 of those had been converted, less about his supposed laziness and more about him being silky smooth?
small margins and only 3 games played, just a different thought process is all, There are going to be games where we believe we should easily win and we get a bad result. we created enough in the Fulham game to win that convincingly.
Perhaps is because we all are "expecting" a brilliant season this season for the first time in a very long time, but I feel there is a lot of tense negative energy around us all at the start of this season, .
1.) 29 Aug 2023 15:59:40
It seems everyone is down on Havertz and not just the fans. How can he be written off so soon?
Can't be easy for him.
{Ed014's Note - I guess he needed to show what he was made of from the off Sally.
Move away from the awful displays at Chelsea and stamp his quality on this side.
I’d guarantee everyone of us gunners want him to do that and don’t want to have a downer on him and as Hampshire says, maybe it’s just small margins.
He must be showing something in training as it would have made more sense to ease him in.
I’m probably one of the few who’s yet to be convinced by ESR though either.
Let’s hope he brings that magic on Sunday.
2.) 29 Aug 2023 16:43:14
Havertz has covered the a lot ground work aswell more than most in our starting 11.
3.) 29 Aug 2023 17:21:38
I wonder if its as simple as not having a sparkling personality? I know that sounds ridiculous but charisma seems to be what's needed in the modern world.
{Ed014's Note - it could be Sally, what ever it is I hope it doesn’t stop him performing for us.
4.) 29 Aug 2023 17:55:08
I'm pretty sure he will get his head on the ball soon Ed, at 6'5" he should do lol
Hope Mrs 14's medication reaction has settled down now Ed ?.
{Ed014's Note - ? yes let’s hope so!
Not just yet Sally, week 3 so she’s staying with it and ?? it does soon thank you ?
5.) 29 Aug 2023 19:47:38
He wins the most duels, creates the second most chances and covers a lot of ground. But in the process of doing so he looks like he's not even trying so he is made the scapegoat. Body language failing an Arsenal player yet again, sounds familiar.
Though i guess the more important stats (goals and assists) are still missing from him, so that plays a part as well.
6.) 29 Aug 2023 18:51:18
Please send her best wishes Ed with a hope she feels better really quickly. ?.
{Ed014's Note - thanks Sally and will do ?
7.) 29 Aug 2023 19:25:35
Yeah hopefully the medication all goes well ed.
{Ed014's Note - thanks Stephen ?

12 Jun 2025 11:15:06
Sy I know we have a history of doing that, but I don't think that is the case with Sesko,
I believe he has a Movable (stupid idea) release clause, so I think the RB are chancing their arm a bit as they know we have chased for 2 years and now there is saudi money involved. I think we will get him for less than they are trying to say, as, according to all the reports, those have always been the figures talked about.
funny how Liverpool don't get the same criticism as arsenal for going in under a figure that the club wants. they are short of Wirtz asking price but have been largely applauded for making the offer.
12 Jun 2025 11:09:48
Sesko is the one I want, I have watched quite a bit of him over the last 2 seasons and he is very impressive, he is only 22 and playing is a better league IMO than victor and also not playing for the top team in that league so his numbers are not going to compare to Victor's.
Solid in all departments, he has good pace and is a unit, also has a lot of similar qualities that Isak had before he came to the prem.
Both would be great, but I doubt that's a possibility, but I think we need 2, and a 22-year-old and a 27-year-old certainly fit the right age demographic, I think.
I think
Kai can then rotate with Ode
Merino can rotate with Rice
Partey can rotate with Zubamendi.
But also a lot of them can play other roles well
rice at 6
Havertz up top
party at RB - I know unpopular, but he does a job
Then a lW and I think that will hugely improve the first team and the depth.
27 Jan 2025 09:17:11
he was not the answer, we need someone yes, but we need a big upgrade on what we have, most of the names mentioned or available are not the answer.
if we want to win the league we need to pay a over the asking price to land one of our actual main targets (PSR permitting) We have had some good deals recently and we seem to be a bit shrewd or at least more so than we have been in the past, but this is not the time to try and be too cleaver. spend big, offload some that are not required and go and win some silverware.
23 Jan 2025 09:16:18
I get a feeling that this arsenal set up will not budge on the type of player they want and won't rush into any knee jerk signings.
Sesko is the player they want it would seem and he is not coming this winter, part of me likes this approach as we have made some poor decision in the past when not securing our first choice target, however it does seem to me that we don't seem to have any other close choices, it cost us in the summer, and it looks like costing us in the winter transfer window.
I am not sure if I feel this is good practice and having a vision of who we want or just bloody singly mindedness that is having a negitive impact on our squad development.
20 Aug 2024 15:22:39
yeah that's fair enough ed,
I feel looking at my view of the quality of players going for £20 and £40 million that a fee in the region of £30 million for eddie is about right. but like you say D16 there is a lot more that goes into I.
Having said that if no one is willing to pay that, then the price is too high. If forest have indeed offered £25, million + Add ons then it seems silly not to take it for a payer who is clearly not 1st or 2nd choice.
I would actually like him to stay in the prem, it would be great to see him flourish and start to make the England squads.

What's all this 4 CB and 3 DM talk
Are we suddenly saying that Timber, White, and Calofori are not good enough to play full back and should be removed from the team?
We have the best defence in the league for 3 seasons and one of the best in Europe, but for these 2 games thay are classed as 4 CB with the narrative being that arteta doesn't know what he is doing?
and 3 DM's, when has merino been a DM, he has never been that. and his GS form has been good, Rice yes started as a DM at west ham, but certinaly is not that for arsenal for over a season, and is not for england anymore also.
are we suggesting that we only play one of Rice, Zuba or merino as they are all the same player?
both the liverpool and city performances were good (the outcomes were not) , when do liverpool get restricted to mimimal chances at Home? when have city been reduced to parking the bus? never.
both were certinaly missed opportunities, but only because of how well we played in those games, making both those very good teams look ordinary and giving the impression that we should have taken more from the games.
we had chances in both games, but defently not enough chances, and certinaly not enough for what our dominace in both thoes games warrented.
Rant over, haha.
I absaloulty reespect everyones has different opinions and we are frustrated due to dropped points. but let's not get distracted from what has been a decent start to the season, without playing anything like what we all know we can, which is athe same for most teams at the moment.
10 Jul 2025 10:43:39
Talking about taking Chelsea players, I said at the start of last season that I would love for us to buy J Pedro from Brighton.
I really rate him as a striker - young, fast, powerful, but with an attitude that top strikers need, I think.
Maybe we will get him next season. haha.
09 Jul 2025 10:10:05
I would prob agree with most of what you have put SY tbh
I think EZE and Martneeali could be a good combo on that left, both play differently, so it gives us a good balance depending on what the game needs.
I agree on the striker front, I am a Havertz fan tho, but not as first choice but I think he is a very good squad player to have, I am not convinced by goykres (I know I have spelt wrong) but happy to be proven wrong, I just don't think strikers coming from the portugase leage are playing at a high enough satanderd week in week out to compare to the prem.

Ben,
I think this is exactly what will happen, I don't think we will move for a LW, and the players that we are talking about (rodrigo and Williams) would cost us more than getting Sesko and Victor.
I just think a lot of work seems to be going on for both, and they are so different in terms of their age that it feels like we are going to get both to complement each other, and also take a little pressure off Sesko.
I am just a fan, with no inside knowledge and too much hope most of the time haha.

I can see what Sy is trying to say, even if I don't agree, there fans are prob more excited about their season than most arsenal fans.
But also, Sy it depends on your expectations, I guess, I don't go into any season expecting to win something, but the minimum expectation is to be competitive in the major ones.
The room for improvement at most clubs is a lot larger than at Arsenal currently, To have a better season than we have had last few years is 1 place, and that's the hardest place to finish in the league.
the FA cup should have been a bigger ambition for us this season I believe and we went out on a very poor performance. but I would not say this season has been a failure either.
Yes I want us to win the league, and that has to be the aim each season but not the expectation.
