Hi Ed,

Do you know if any of the players that we are happy to let go have any genuine interest from other clubs or are in the advance stages of negotiations?

also, this may not be the kind of information you know so sorry in advance if it's a question you cannot answer.

but we have previously terminated players' contracts (Ozil and Abua) do you know if this is a route that we are still willing to take (I am thinking Pepe for example) or have we moved on from this line of thought and trying to recoup decent money for our players now?

HampshireGunner

{Ed002's Note - Yes there is interest in players but I don't know what an "advanced stage of negotiation" is. terminating contracts can be hugely expensive for the club.}

1.) 19 Jul 2023 11:30:34
sorry didn't explain myself properly, by the advanced stage of negotiation I meant, price agreed with clubs, medicals booked, and anything more than just inquiries made.

Thanks again for all your effort with us Arsenal fans.

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware.}

2.) 20 Jul 2023 14:54:38
thanks, ed.

Hi Ed, I saw Fabian Ruiz to arsenal rumor surface, having a loot through you mentioned back in Feb that his agent thought Arsenal could be interested in him, have you heard anything recently to suggest that he is a player we might be looking at? I don't know much about him if I am honest, only what I have read recently, do you believe he would be a good target/ addition to the arsenal?

HampshireGunner

{Ed002's Note - The only new thing is that his contract renewal seems stalled.}

1.) 16 Jun 2022 15:41:20
Afternoon Ed. Any truth that arsenal have activated the release clause of Fabio Viera from Porto plz?

{Ed002's Note - Fabio Vieira (AM) Porto want to keep the youngster and have no intention of selling. Previously Arsenal, Bournemouth and RBL have had approaches turned away but Arsenal could look again. Has also been watched by Spurs, Leicester, Wolves and Liverpool.}

16 Jun 2022 12:16:19
Afternoon Ed, you mentioned a few days ago that Arsenal had a €60M offer rejected for Victor Osimhen, I keep seeing statements suggesting that we are looking to bid again to the value that Napoli is asking for (which I really don't see arsenal doing. DO you have any additional info or knowledge regarding this transfer? IE if arsenal would actually be willing to go that high or if these reports are just clickbait.

Thanks again for all your work on this page.

HampshireGunner

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of anything new.}

1.) 16 Jun 2022 14:16:09
With all the clickbait and insane transfer stories, I really am so grateful for this site. Naturally, I can't help but read all these stories, but before getting carried away I always wait for clarification here first. Cannot beat this site!

{Ed002's Note - Thanks.}

2.) 16 Jun 2022 15:58:01
exactly the same Lefty mate, I read allllll the stories, but don't get carried away unless there has been a discussion on here and ED, s have had a say on the matter.

{Ed002's Note - I would need to ask someone.}

09 Mar 2022 12:35:18
with the discussions happening about whether Marcus rashford should leave Man Utd, I was wondering what everyone's thoughts would be on him leading the line for the Arsenal.

HE scores about 1 in 3 looking at his goals but not sure if he has had a sustained run in the central position?

and would the Eds have any information on if arsenal would be interested in him at all?

HampshireGunner

{Ed002's Note - There is interest in him from elsewhere - but none from Arsenal at this time.}

1.) 09 Mar 2022 13:21:12
Not for me.

2.) 10 Mar 2022 01:09:16
Not for me either. He’s reached his potential and his potential won’t get him in the England team from here on.

3.) 10 Mar 2022 16:33:17
Wouldn't go near him.

4.) 10 Mar 2022 18:11:56
He has had over 70+ goal contribution in the last three seasons including this one. So this is a off-season and shouldn't be written. Probably dipped because or Ronaldo, although he seems to most played on the left. Still young and British. Would work better if we don't resign Laca and still bring in a stylist no.9.

5.) 10 Mar 2022 18:14:15
Massive fee, massively overated, no thank you.

6.) 10 Mar 2022 22:32:14
I'd give him a chance. As long as he didn't stunt the chances of our star boys. I read a suggestion that if Laca stays he could play further back and have Rashford in front of him.

7.) 11 Mar 2022 05:14:33
Please no, if that scenario, who doesn't play?

8.) 11 Mar 2022 06:37:53
For me the guy brings too much baggage. I don't rate him over what we have he ain't all football. He brings off pitch attention to himself. We don't need media circus. A point Alex Ferguson made by getting rid of Beckham at the peak of Beckham career. The extra lime light just brings disruption to the team. Having said that I'm not the manager and I'm not edu. And at the moment my trust with them.

9.) 11 Mar 2022 20:57:05
I don't mind that he brings media attention. He holds a corrupt and inept government to account and that should be encouraged.

However, I'm not sure he's a great fit for us and despite being a talented player he's not what we need. Our striking search should focus on someone more along the lines of Giroud or Laca but with more end product.

10.) 12 Mar 2022 13:36:41
Signing him up for the Houses of Parliament, yes 100%. For us, maybe, but I see him more as a left winger rather than CF.

11.) 13 Mar 2022 02:24:07
Our history shows when we have taken man u players they have not performed well enough. For me we need someone who will put everything on hold while they are with rightly or wrongly their commitment to the club should be 100% club first everything else second. Marcus rashford is a great guy from what the media has shown. Arteta like pep may hold out n wait for the right striker and rely on the team collectively to bring in the goals. We are not short on goals we are unlocking defenses and scoring goal. N once partey sorts his accuracy out boy r we in for some pleasure.

12.) 15 Mar 2022 06:45:25
Definitely not…. An insider I know exceptionally well who has worked at United for many years said he is definitely not the most popular person around the club. His ego and attitude is on another level. So for one I wouldn’t want to see him at Arsenal.

{Ed014's Note - I’m with you mate, let them keep yet another over rated player.

13.) 15 Mar 2022 06:49:45
I like Epping Gooners reply.

But maybe you will find that it’s really his mother that should sign for Parliament.

She’s the grafter he’s just the front man.

25 Jan 2022 14:36:01
Ed's I know you have given who our transfer targets are and the information is greatly appreciated, can I ask if you have any info on how many arsenals would be trying ideally to get through the door in Jan?

I felt we were a bit light in the center of the park before we let AMN go so I am hoping for 2 Central Midfielders and a Striker.

Melo and Gigi seemed to be gathering pace across a lot of the media outlets, do you believe we could be looking to bring in more than 1 central mid?

HampshireGunner

{Ed002's Note - It should be able to complete the Arthur Melo loan if the club will agree an obligation to buy, else they will need to look to the other options they have. I would not expect two strikers in January but there will be a push to add one, pemanent or loan.}

1.) 25 Jan 2022 15:54:39
Thanks Ed002. Much appreciated.

2.) 25 Jan 2022 21:54:46
Cheers Ed.

Just read a start than in the first 3 games of the season, Haverts has created the 2nd most chances of any arsenal player with 5 chances only behind Saxa with 9.

can you imagine the difference in opinion if let's say 3 of those had been converted, less about his supposed laziness and more about him being silky smooth?

small margins and only 3 games played, just a different thought process is all, There are going to be games where we believe we should easily win and we get a bad result. we created enough in the Fulham game to win that convincingly.

Perhaps is because we all are "expecting" a brilliant season this season for the first time in a very long time, but I feel there is a lot of tense negative energy around us all at the start of this season, .

1.) 29 Aug 2023 15:59:40
It seems everyone is down on Havertz and not just the fans. How can he be written off so soon?

Can't be easy for him.

{Ed014's Note - I guess he needed to show what he was made of from the off Sally.

Move away from the awful displays at Chelsea and stamp his quality on this side.

I’d guarantee everyone of us gunners want him to do that and don’t want to have a downer on him and as Hampshire says, maybe it’s just small margins.

He must be showing something in training as it would have made more sense to ease him in.

I’m probably one of the few who’s yet to be convinced by ESR though either.

Let’s hope he brings that magic on Sunday.

2.) 29 Aug 2023 16:43:14
Havertz has covered the a lot ground work aswell more than most in our starting 11.

3.) 29 Aug 2023 17:21:38
I wonder if its as simple as not having a sparkling personality? I know that sounds ridiculous but charisma seems to be what's needed in the modern world.

{Ed014's Note - it could be Sally, what ever it is I hope it doesn’t stop him performing for us.

4.) 29 Aug 2023 17:55:08
I'm pretty sure he will get his head on the ball soon Ed, at 6'5" he should do lol

Hope Mrs 14's medication reaction has settled down now Ed ?.

{Ed014's Note - ? yes let’s hope so!

Not just yet Sally, week 3 so she’s staying with it and ?? it does soon thank you ?

5.) 29 Aug 2023 19:47:38
He wins the most duels, creates the second most chances and covers a lot of ground. But in the process of doing so he looks like he's not even trying so he is made the scapegoat. Body language failing an Arsenal player yet again, sounds familiar.

Though i guess the more important stats (goals and assists) are still missing from him, so that plays a part as well.

6.) 29 Aug 2023 18:51:18
Please send her best wishes Ed with a hope she feels better really quickly. ?.

{Ed014's Note - thanks Sally and will do ?

7.) 29 Aug 2023 19:25:35
Yeah hopefully the medication all goes well ed.

{Ed014's Note - thanks Stephen ?

I guess the team to look at 62 is Man city, which is the team we are all trying to beat and compete with.

John Stones has had to continually fight for his place with several expensive defenders coming into the team, no complaints just keeps fighting.

Jack Grealish went for £100 million - but no finds himself playing back up to the new guy, no complaints just gets on with it and fights.

I don't agree with the way Ramsdale has been dropped without really doing anything on the pitch wrong (obviously we don't know about behind closed doors) but I don't agree that any player should just walk and give up after 14 games of a season because they have lost their place, regardless of the reason if we want to be a top club.

if that makes sense.

if I remember correctly he signed a new 5 years deal at the end of last season so we will be in a strong position to command that sort of fee for him.

he still has over half a season to fight for his place, I am a big Ramsdale fan, but I do feel he needs to put up a bit of a fight, he came in as a no 2 and saw no problem challenging the no.1.

we are 13 games into a prem season and people seem to be telling him to wave the white flag and move on. are we going to suggest that if he became England's no,1 he should change the country if a new keeper comes along and challenges him?

he is a good keeper, but he is not a keeper that is ever going to be at a top club without the question if he can be upgraded, so if he wants to play for the top top teams then that is something he is going to have to get used to. or he goes to a Wolves and has a good career without playing at the very top IMO.

I am a big ESR fan, but I am starting to wonder if he is going to another Jack Wilshire (also a player that I loved in an Arsenal shirt)

he seems to have never really had a sustained season without an injury and when you consider that he was ahead in his time scale of first team than Saka was and how far apart their careers look now I am for the first time starting to wonder if we would be better off moving on From ESR.

Which I really dislike saying out loud.

he averaged a goal involvement every 2 games in his first 2 seasons, so certainly was not the failure that everyone made out, but his last of effort when the chip was down so to say was questionable.

and maybe represented in the fact that he is struggling to find a club, in that there has been interest but no one seems to have been able to agree personal terms. Makes me wonder if he is a bit lazy and just wants to be paid a lot for little effort.

I could very well be wrong, just a thought.

IT wasn't a great game, and perhaps a lesson to a lot of our players about the top level of European football, its not just about your quality with the ball, the dark arts tactics and how to control them, or more importantly how not to let them control you.

we have been great a corners for a while now, we had 9 of them. and hardly looked like scoring because we let them get into our heads with all the theatrics in the box.

Having said that Porto are notoriously good at home and not very good away and I do think we can win the home game comfortably.

Agree with you Mal, I thought Havartz was one of the better performers yesterday, but he will always be an easy target, just like Raya, we had 2 opportunities to clear the ball, but the blame will land with him.

Personally, i think we are better with him in the team but I think what it shows is that Arteta is trying to build a squad where if a play comes out then the replacement is of a similar style/ level. (other than Saka)

We don't have a Haaland this is team, but it's harder to replace than when they are not in the team.

Regarding the actual question I have just asked myself if we only had one and they were fit all season would I prefer Jesus or Trossard, and I would prob just edge toward Jesus.

HampshireGunner

{Ed014's Note - I was only thinking that same thing yesterday as we’ve been smashing the goals in.

I was considering if using him as a super sub would be a great option.

He is such a menace on the pitch and last season seemed to open up opportunities for others to score.

I’m glad I’m not having to make the choices!

Great attitude from both players and the whole squad seems to have great harmony.

I also wonder how much of those 2 circumstances is a credit to Arteta for giving clear communication to the players during the process of those decisions.

obviously, a lot goes on behind the scenes that we don't see, even with Ramsdale, there doesn't seem to be any hissy fits, it could just be 3 players with good attitudes, however, it could be that actually, Arteta is good/ betting better with his management of players as he learns from past mistakes.

I posed this question a few seasons ago as Rashford was a player I really liked.

I do wonder now tho if he is another player where football is not his priority anymore (Deli Ali, Jessie Lingard, Jadon Sancho, Calvert Lewin) All very good players who seem to have a lot of interest commercially outside of football and enjoy the status and fame of a footballer rather than the actual hard work that it takes alongside their obvious talent.

I don't like Ten Hag, however Rashford is a UTD youth product, he should be playing for and committed to the badge, regardless of who is at the helm,

Why are we trying to compare Arteta to Klopp or Pep?

Arteta is 4 and a half years into his managerial career! Klopp is 22 years into his.

In Klopp's 4th/ 5th season, he got Mainz relegated! Imagine if everyone had written him off then due to his early mistakes.

Arteta has a team competing at the top of the premier league and has an FA Cup to his name.

Arteta is no wear near an elite manager, but he is learning quickly and has improved the team and the club since he has been there, yes he makes mistakes and is frustrating at times, but this is the most excited I have been about our club in years and it's all under his watch.

let's not compare him to the very top in the game because he isn't, but he is definitely one of the very best young managers out there and he absolutely loves this club which is there for everyone to see, and I would rather that kind of manager than one who has no passion or Arsenal DNA in them.
