Gone on the internet and done a bit of research on the Japanese rb. He seems to highly rated hard tackler, good in the air and can play the ball out of defence. I don't know if any the Ed's can give us anymore info on him.
Apologies if the subject has already been dealt with.

BillGooner

{Ed002's Note - Do you mean Takehiro Tomiyasu (CB)? Spurs nearly agreed a transfer and Arsenal have expressed an interest whilst Atalanta were looking for discussions. Much will depend on Bologna replacing him - and they have made a proposal to Chelsea to take Malang Sarr on loan.}

1.) 31 Aug 2021 11:48:07
Thanks for the info Ed
Much appreciated.

2.) 31 Aug 2021 11:55:16
Ed002, Is he primarily a CB or RB and more importantly is he coming in to play as a full back or a CB? The confusion keeps piling up.

{Ed002's Note - He is a CB. Arsenal no longer need a Bellerin replacement.}

3.) 31 Aug 2021 11:58:58
Why do they no longer need a Bellerin replacement, Ed? Looks like he's off to Betis on loan.

{Ed002's Note - Ainsley Maitland-Niles will provide cover.}

4.) 31 Aug 2021 12:28:09
That's worries me there Ed. I mean who does he provide cover to. Cedric, Chambers? Not even sure who our first choice right back is.

{Ed002's Note - There are plenty of choices as you note. The new CB could also perhaps play there as well.}

5.) 31 Aug 2021 12:49:40
Thanks for the reply Ed002, Great insight. Do you think Arsenal are working on getting in another player after Tomiyasu with 12 hours remaining for the deadline?

{Ed002's Note - If the can.}

6.) 31 Aug 2021 13:49:22
Another well known QUALITY signing…
Where do we keep finding these top players from.
🤣🤣.

7.) 31 Aug 2021 13:55:25
Planning for life in the Championship.

8.) 31 Aug 2021 13:38:09
Feel better after the update and clarification Ed - thank you.,

Who is our first choice right back though?

{Ed002's Note - No idea I am afraid.}

9.) 31 Aug 2021 14:21:28
Thank you - hopefully Mikel knows but I’m not sure he does either 😂 😂.

10.) 31 Aug 2021 14:54:46
I fully expect this guy to be utilised as a RB. White and Gabriel will be a 1st choice pairing with Holding and Mari as backup. Bellerin out and Chambers/ Cedric are not a confident 1st choice for MA.
When fully fit, I am expecting we'll see Tomiyasu, White, Gabriel, KT as our back 4.

{Ed077's Note - or White could be utilized as an RB?

11.) 31 Aug 2021 17:26:21
Possibly Ed yeah and switch up the CBs. We'll soon see!

{Ed077's Note - whatever way the CBs get deployed, it's still lots of money spent on a position that wasn't in urgent need of revamp. Well at least the next manager will have a few decent players to work with😉

12.) 31 Aug 2021 17:47:15
White could play DM as well.

11 Aug 2021 16:18:04
According to reports we are in advanced talks with Sheff Utd over Ramsdale. The fee is apparently 24mill so I am of the opinion
he is coming as first choice keeper . With no Europe so need to rotate the squad as much, would it be safe to assume that Leno is on his way out baring in mind we have another 2 highly rated young keepers in Okontwo (not sure if that's the right spelling and Karl Hein.

BillGooner

1.) 11 Aug 2021 18:46:23
I hope Leno is on the way out. Ramsdale though? I would've felt better with Onana in goal. I won't dismiss Ramsdale though as he has been in two crap teams that got relegated. Can't all be blamed on him. Interesting window though none the less. Still got a feeling Arsenal also bring in Maddison.

2.) 11 Aug 2021 18:58:46
He also got voted player of the season for both teams the last two seasons.

3.) 11 Aug 2021 19:16:27
Didnt know that J Gunner👍👍👍👍.

4.) 11 Aug 2021 19:24:42
I'd rather Dean Henderson if De Gea is Utd's no1 Henderson will want out.

5.) 11 Aug 2021 21:24:01
Ramsdale is a bit young for me. Goalkeepers mature later and so you can afford to pick up someone older than you would for another position. However, he appears to be a good keeper, and if it works he could be our keeper for the next decade or more, so you can see the attraction. Would definitely prefer him than this drug ban fellow, too much baggage we could do without.

6.) 12 Aug 2021 16:56:19
Ramsdale is Pony. I watched his best saves on YouTube to try alter my mindset and yeah he can stop a shot but a lot of the time, he cushions the save into a danger zone for a rebound. Catches nothing. He doesn’t bring confidence in his teams, hence 2 relegations last 2 seasons.

Have to agree with 62
Name a stand or even the ground after him, but that's as far as it should go.
I wouldn't let Arsene within a million miles of the club in any role whatsoever.

BillGooner

{Ed014's Note - stop sitting on the fence Bill ?

1.) 26 Nov 2021 19:09:34
Arsene was the best thing to ever happen to us and I would love him back. It’s gone even further down hill since he left.

2.) 26 Nov 2021 19:12:52
It's a joke Bill, it looks like the cosy club are reforming and making a come back mate.

First of all Jack Wilshire and now the cosy clubs very own commander in chief, Arsene himself ????????????????

What could possibly go wrong?
Rosettes and wooden rattles at the ready everyone.

{Ed014's Note - don’t want to worry you at all mate but Diaby was seen at the training ground earlier today! ??

3.) 26 Nov 2021 19:28:04
I expected nothing less Ed014 mate ????????????????

Exciting times or what:-) .

4.) 26 Nov 2021 19:42:01
Ed he was car sharing with Kim Kallstrom! Them and Jack ready for the Physio Room Christmas party COYG.

{Ed014's Note - party time! ?

5.) 26 Nov 2021 19:46:01
I think Arteta would benefit from having an old head around to bounce ideas off.

If they get the role right - I think it could be awesome. How else does Arteta learn how to attack.

6.) 26 Nov 2021 20:29:58
The Christmas party should be brilliant with big Tony on the karaoke singing Get Up Stand Up to Mertaducker and Thierry and Denis dueting to Chers, If I Coukd Turn Back Time and Wrighty wrapping the evening up with
The Way We Were ???
" Can it be that it was all so simple then, or has time rewritten every line and if we had the chance to do it all again would we could we "
Nope ?????.

{Ed014's Note - ??

7.) 26 Nov 2021 22:41:00
Do any eds have any thoughts on this?

{Ed001's Note - it really depends on the role he has.}

8.) 27 Nov 2021 10:18:55
I personally was quite sad that in Arsenes farewell speech to the fans at the Emirates he had to appeal for people to let bygones be bygones and say we are all fans now almost by way having to ask people to remember him kindly.

I'd always imagined that when Arsene and Arsenal finally parted company it would be a hugely emotional farewell without a dry eye in the stadium, but by handing in to long Arsenes leaving was a cause for huge celebration rather then sadness such had his reputation and credibility with so many fans diminished.

Coming back in any kind of public facing role and putting positive spin on everything those currently running the club do certainly won't build any bridges and is highly likely to see Arsenes connection with the fans sadly decline further.

He'd have been far better off working with the consortium trying to buy the club, if he hoped to rebuild his relationship back to its once 100% hero status rating.

21 Nov 2021 09:22:44
Liverpool are a great side, but West Ham beat them, Brighton dicked them off the pitch for 45 minutes
With the greatest respect I don't think their squads are any better than ours, so we should have done a lot better than what we did yesterday.

BillGooner

{Ed014's Note - totally agree Bill and we’d done well until the manager spat and that gee’d them and the crowd right up.

We were then on a huge uphill battle. Not Arteta’s finest 2 minutes but hopefully he and the team learn and their feet are firmly back on the ground.

I think this is also a time when we miss a true leader in the middle of the park. Aubamayang is just not captain material.

1.) 21 Nov 2021 10:37:05
The invincibles were a great team but Portsmouth (home and away) Chalton Fulham Leicester Bolton Newcastle Birmingham even Spurs took points off of them and plus Middlesbrough Dynamo Kyiv Inter Chelsea and United all beat them that season in cup games.

Are we really saying if Birmingham and Bolton could get a point off the invincibles why didn't everyone else?

It's football and the reason we love the game is anyone can beat anyone else on the day but in reality it's where you end up over 38 games that shows how good you really were, it's why Arsenal were champions in 2003/ 4 despite those draws and why Leicester were relegated despite holding Arsenal to a draw.

2.) 21 Nov 2021 11:20:37
Good points John mate.

3.) 21 Nov 2021 11:49:59
Cheers Mark mate, I personally think the 8 game unbeaten run inflated people's idea of how much we'd improved and of course when reality hit home it naturally leavss people feeling flat.

As always it's not all about what happens to you that matters most, it's about how you respond to what's happened that counts most in the long run.

4th place is wide open and there are probably 5 to 7 sides who have the potential to claim it, we are one of those 5 to 7 sides and I don't think yesterday changed that much at all either way.

4.) 21 Nov 2021 12:00:36
Agreed John

I’m still feeling pretty up beat, let’s go out and give a performance against Newcastle.

5.) 21 Nov 2021 12:48:14
I think we are improving mate but I accept there are still some big questions to be asked of our team and manager between now and next May.

Our immediate challenge is to pip everyone else to 4th place first and foremost but I accept lots of other clubs fancy their chances of getting 4th too.

6.) 21 Nov 2021 10:03:14
Defo Ed.
I wouldn't have started Auba yesterday. Gone 5 across midfield and Lacca on his own up front.

{Ed014's Note - agree Bill.

7.) 21 Nov 2021 10:14:47
Firstly agree we should have done better Bill and Ed the spat did seem to gee them up . Arteta was wrong but at least the passion was there. It`s really tricky though to say they beat them we should beat them etc West Ham losing yesterday ( better team though ) Villa beating Brighton ( not the better team ) which as always leads me to believe City Pool and Chelsea are way ahead of the rest as their results are pretty consistent.

Top four is "up for grabs now " and will be resolved by how those challenging for it do against each other and those in lower half not by how they do against the top 3 which is a sad indictment of where we are and Spuds United and to a certain extent Leicester. West Ham are ecstatic at being top 4 and rightly enjoying the ride. Anyone who felt after our run we would walk top 4 is frankly potty and unrealistic as we are in transition and will be for a year or two.

Is Arteta the man to do this? I can see small green shoots and two good windows could make the difference. We hadn`t been underinvested before we had just spent poorly - Mustafi Pepe Xhaka £140 mill! So playing catch up and new signings seem to be doing okay so far and Ed002 on rumours showing how important January and June are with so many fringe/ loan players plus Laca becoming free agents- they have to be replaced .

Dare I say we missed Xhaka`s experience at least ( not worth £35mill) and certainly Sir Kieran which in hindsight was a poor choice leaving him out. Does Tavares get an assist for Jota`s goal? This young team will have days like yesterday against teams like Pool as long as we learn we move forward.

Bring on Newcastle! Conte for United anyone? Do agree with Sy by the way that PEA is not scaring defenders and against the best puts the back 6/ 7 under pressure but sure this is being addressed but will take time I guess - maybe I`m just too patient - my theme being it will take time - hope I`m right but as 74 says time will tell. Keeping the faith with rose tinted specs firmly on COYG.

{Ed014's Note - I think some forget how young our side is so when they say this team or that team beat them or got points, they are what you might call established sides.

We’re a side in the making, re the spat it was just a daft thing to do and likely resulted in more of a beating than I’d expected.

PEA is definitely a weakness for us and I won’t be to sad to see him leave when he does.

8.) 21 Nov 2021 10:57:40
I totally agree Auba is no leader Ed014 mate, in fact he's actually a passenger.

I personally think a lot of people over valued our 8 game unbeaten run much as I personally did Emery's 10 game unbeaten run a couple years back when I chose to ignore the obvious weaknesses and concentrate only on the positive results.

During our this seasons 8 game run we stole a point from both Palace and and Brighton and of the 6 teams we beat 3 of those clubs have sacked their manager since we played them.

Personally I think the biggest reason people are upset about yesterday is because like me with Emery they allowed themselves to fall into the trap of believing what they wanted to be true rather than accepting everything might not be as it appeared on paper.

{Ed014's Note - it’s just daft to be upset mate, we’re no match for them it’s that simple and yes defo not fooled by any run.

Auba as I was just saying to Sussex is definitely a weakness for us, not just as our main striker but also as a poor choice for captain, a big minus for Arteta for me, making that decision.

9.) 21 Nov 2021 18:47:11
I definitely agree Cumbria mate, time will tell as it always does.

The fact Ramsdale seems to be heading very quickly towards joining ERS Saka and Tierney as tried tested and really importantly a consistently high level performer is very encouraging.

10.) 21 Nov 2021 17:54:12
Hi Ed014 I accept Mikel is going to be around for a while yet and while I hope he will come good my own personal feeling is he isn't going to be up to the difficult task of getting back where we want to be.

{Ed014's Note - I’m of the same opinion mate, he just does things that make me scratch my head, like keeping Xhaka, making Auba captain and making an outcast of Saliba.

20 Nov 2021 19:31:05
Exactly Wilfred mate.
I said earlier this game will show how much Arteta has learnt and improved. Passing around is one thing, passing around and continually giving the ball away and still carry on doing it is madness. So what has Arteta learnt against the top teams.
Absolutely naff all.

BillGooner

1.) 20 Nov 2021 20:05:26
Nothing Arteta did today was the reason for today's result in my opinion Bill mate

I didn't want to be the one to burst the enthusiasm bubble before the game but did anyone really expect us to go to Anfield and compete with this awesome Liverpool team as equals?

Of course we all hoped we'd give a good account of ourselves and on the plus side it took Liverpool 39 minutes to score their first goal and that really does make a nice change from the customary 4 down in the first 20 minutes.

There is the big 3 who are light years ahead of the rest and then there are a host of 4th place hopeful clubs, we were one of those hopefuls before this game and still are after it.

2.) 20 Nov 2021 20:35:39
I think the big difference was Liverpool didn’t give our youngsters that extra second to get some composure so we made silly mistakes. Not sure that’s Mikel’s fault but that we came up against a far superior team who put us under pressure and kept the tempo up for the entire game. We were second best all over the pitch and defenders made mistakes left right and centre. Giving the ball away, over running passes, over playing and not picking up players in the box. We had no leadership and I think the two CMs didn’t help nor did the inexperienced fullbacks. Only player who deserves a round of applause was Ramsdale.

Toothless upfront with PEA.

Think we all got carried away with a decent run but as someone said - Mikel still hasn’t managed to get a decent 90 mins out of our boys.

Lots of learning lessons today and hopefully we sit down and watch the game back. Issue is with players attitudes like White who doesn’t watch football games. How the F you going to learn boy - watch the best. If PV4 who you can’t lace his boots watched football to learn then so should you. So players must show the desire to improve or get sold as I’m watching kids on the assumption that we slowly get better but know they will make mistakes.

My biggest concern is probably same as yours - does Mikel have the clout to get the players to learn and improve. We know he can’t manage egos and big players. The other issue is does Mikel have the experience to teach them. The boys have potential but they need leaders and a good coach. This match won’t determine that but the next 6 months will.

If he can’t coach youth to learn, press and play for 90 mins or can’t manage big names - what’s the point.

Looking forward to seeing how they develop between now and the City, Spurs and next Liverpool games in Jan / Feb. It was an embarrassing effort today especially the second half and it’s the big games that are the measure of improvement not Newcastle at home.

Let’s not forget Brighton recently drew 2 all at Anfield. West Ham recently beat them…we are up there with Watford and Man Utd in terms of disasters at Anfield this year…. I honestly expected a better show but Inexperience and lack of drive cost us today as well as quality on the bench.

3.) 20 Nov 2021 20:48:40
Gunner - if Brighton and West Ham can give them a game. Why can’t we? Brighton, Brighton mate. Bloody Brighton can.

4.) 20 Nov 2021 22:08:17
Why did we get beat 7 0 by Chelsea and 8 2 at United when teams below us got points there back in the day SY mate?
This is not uncharted territory for us mate, if you compare Arsenal Liverpool Spurs Chelsea City and Uniteds worst results against each other over the last 17 years I think you will find our record of getting absolutely thrashed at the hands of the other 5 is in a league of its own.

This is a very long standing Arsenal problem not simply the current team and manager or even curent owners problem mate.

{Ed014's Note - it’s a pretty horrendous theme we’ve managed to get ourselves into.

Wenger’s hammering in his 1000th game in charge by Mourinho really smashed it home how abject we have become at giving the big boys even half a game.

5.) 20 Nov 2021 22:31:16
Hi Ed014 mate, yes that 7 0 defeat on Arsenes 1000th game stands out as the absolute worst ever Arsenal performance I've ever seen, it was definitely made worse because it was at the hands of Arsenes arch emery Jose.

We are unfortunately spoilt for choice when it comes to picking the second worst mate ?.

{Ed014's Note - I know mate, it’s only United getting drubbings recently by the big boys who are in anyway competing with us in these beatings.

They have a fair way to go before they’re as bad as us though!

6.) 21 Nov 2021 08:46:26
Last season or the beginning of this season I would have blamed Arteta but yesterday wasn't his fault. We are going down the route of buying youth players with potential and that unfortunately didn't work yesterday but it's something I can get fully behind and it excites me for the first time in years as a supporter.
We are miles off the top 3 but I honestly think we can challenge for the 4th place position, and once we're back in Europe, and with this young team that will continue to learn we can push on.

7.) 20 Nov 2021 23:25:18
Uniteds results are our silver lining Ed mate, who would have thought it mate ????.

{Ed014's Note - they just go from bad to worse mate, spent a fortune on a squad not fit for purpose, zero longevity in it with way to much deadwood.

They have about 5 players good to go, the rest I wouldn’t give you tuppence for.

8.) 21 Nov 2021 11:05:50
Agree Ed014 mate, my worry is Olies replacement getting the best out of what they have.
United being worse than us is currently my comfort blanket and I don't want to give it up ?????.

{Ed014's Note - mate I’ve said it forever, I really don’t rate that squad of theirs, no longevity in it, so poor defensively and in midfield.

Their shining lights are few and far between so who ever comes in will struggle for me.

So you’ll have it for a while yet! ?

19 Nov 2021 19:14:53
Tomorrow's game is about how far we have come also about how far Arteta has come as a coach
I am going for a score draw
COYG.

1.) 19 Nov 2021 20:19:09
This is a great game for us to really test our progress in.

If the last 8 games have been more about who we played rather than the genuine progress we've made that will be cruelly exposed tomorrow evening against an excellent Liverpool side.

On the other hand if we have made genuine progress that stands up even at Anfield, then we have start taking our chances of a 4th place finish a lot more seriously.

I'm really looking forward to seeing which way it goes.

09 Nov 2021 08:17:52
My apologies everyone, how could I forget Ramsdale. That was a serious senior moment.

BillGooner

1.) 09 Nov 2021 17:45:22
If Ranmsdale keeps doing what he's doing I'm sure his chance will come Bill mate.

So far he's had some really good performances in his 8 or 9 premier league games and most importantly no real howlers, but it's important not to put an inexperienced keeper in the national spot light to soon. Scott Carson comes immediately to mind, he looked like he had a huge future ahead of him until that 1 error in an England shirt which he never seemed to really recover from at either club or international level, I'd hate to see that happen to our promising young keeper.

2.) 09 Nov 2021 18:02:39
Good points 62 mate.

3.) 09 Nov 2021 21:27:05
Cheers Bill.

{Ed014's Note - I think he’d need to prove a little more than doing well in Scotland to prove his worth for the Liverpool job Bill.

Think he knows that hence the move, it’s now a case of will he actually be all that.
