With Cunha signing a new deal, Villa unlikely to sell another forward in this window and sesko seaming more likely for the summer; would we be happier to sign a striker who maybe would not be our first choice option, or would we rather get a wide player who can challenge for the starting LW position?
Definitely seems like there is more scope of a quality LW coming in now than a world class forward.

The idea of it from a rebalancing of football resource is brilliant. It's creating a way for non European, or oil, leagues to generate funds required to keep their academy products.
From a calendar perspective it is chaos. A player at the top level could get as little as 4 months off cumulatively over their entire 10yr+ career.
There needs to be a conversation about how to reduce matches; for me the league cup needs to go for a start.

Great article. I watch a huge amount of Serie A and I cannot speak highly enough of Retegui; he's a complete forward. There is a huge question mark around him though; is his success amplified by Gasperini's tactical approach, as he has routinely got his front 3 to overachieve (Duvan Zapata as a prime example) .

Mateo Retegui is apparently an option Andrea Berta likes.
He's an exceptionally talented striker who ticks a lot of boxes but the relationship between his success and Atalanta's style is difficult to analyse. Gapserini definitely gets the most out of his attackers.
