Apparently we are seriously looking at activating Kondobia's release clause, I think its £17.2m. Anyone else heard this? Eds?

With some tax issue or something (can't remember exactly), the real release clause figure is closer to 27mil.

Careful fellow Gooners!! We are far from out of the woods! If we can manage to actually complete a deal for Di maria that would be fantastic but someone of his quality will without doubt draw in other clubs! As will Benzema! And as we know that's when our negotiators lose their bottle! Di maria I think is definitely a possibilty it just makes sense given where Bale will play, Benzema not so much, he has said recently he does not want to leave. We have also tried for years to get him and he has never really showed interest even when he wasnt playing much. don't get me wrong these are just the type of players that we should be going for but with terrible negotiators and no positive signs from the players i'm scepitical to say the least.

What do you guys think of the story in the Mirror saying that Rooney may well be allowed to leave, if they find a suitable signing? Would he be a more realistic than Benzema?

I don't know about this one lads, from what I remember of Ozil's situation is that he wanted to move only if Kaka remained at RM, but with Kaka now gone to AC I don't see why he would ant to leave, his main reason is gone. Also like I have said before these are top draw players, so if they are available expect other clubs to come in. United according to sky are sniffing, which makes sense, he is exactly what they need and they are happy to pay 200k we all know that's double what we want to do.

Basically I think too many things have changed in favor of Ozil staying for us to really get him, but me as all of us live in hope. I think Di Maria is the favourable player in all aspects don't know how come this has gone so quiet?

Cannot see this happening at all. in this market he would command a much higher fee. The German player is by a lot of sources Draxler, but we won't sign him.

Dont see this happening, Benteke is going nowhere and as painful as it is to say neither is Bendtner. I am utterly shocked that Wenger has even had the balls to say he would use him again! We are a mess!

Yeah I have heard this too. I said the same thing yesterday on here, Di Maria and Benzema are big players, o ay availability with them will bring in other teams, and that as we know usually send Arsenal in the other direction. Not sure I believe in either of the teams stated though, to me neither of them reall need that type of player, unless United want to play him through the middle? Coming from Marca, this looks to me like another Higuain saga al over again and we know what happened there!

Also to note though, Wenger said yesterday the players he wants have said they want to come also, Di Maria wants to stay as does Benzema, so make of that what you will.

I agree selling Poldi doesn't make much sense to me, I didn't read much into his demeanour last night. I think its understandable, for you to look less motivated when you come on in the last five munites of a game already wrapped up. He can't be happy that he doesn't make starting 11, but for me he is still a goal threat in a team that lacks that at present. I just think he is not quite a winger or quite a lone striker, and that's where we sort of scratch our heads with him. But definitely got the quality the squad needs.

For the record I'm not anti Welbeck he is far better than Sanogo and has a great work ethic. But when you want to win the Prem or the Champs league you go and get a striker that will net you over 20 league goals a season. Sanchez will be a beast but I think he is the same as everyone else, he will need a season. Additionally the longer Wenger takes to solve this problem the less and less we will get out of Ozil, who in my opinion is going backwards at Arsenal. He needs a quality striker, who stretches defences and to play through the centre, until that happens he is a luxury that we don't seem to miss when he is out.

OK so 24 hours on, we are all divided it seems on Welbeck, so I will put my two pence in. The PROBLEM with the Welbeck signing is quite simply he is not of the quality we are all screaming for. Arsenal have been searching for a striker for over a year! We have not managed to capture: Higuain/Benzema/Suarez/Rooney/ Cavani/Balotelli/Origi/Costa/Mandzukic/Lewandowski/Remy/Lukaku and now Falcao! All of these forwards have been available at a point in the last year. Arsenal have signed none of them! The question is why? Why can't we get them in? Its clearly not always going to be wages is it? If we can spend 42.5m on a creative midfielder, surely we can spend what it takes to get a quality 20 goal a season striker? But we haven't. We have signed a prospect and expect to challenge for what with that prospect?

As for those hoping for the Sturridge effect:
He is not like Daniel Sturridge at all! Sturridge is an out and out goal scorer, those of you who think he was terrible at Chelsea are wrong. Imagine playing Ian Wright/Andy Cole/Alan Shearer on the wing? that's what Chelsea done and the effect was he was non existent as would those other players mentioned be in that circumstance. Once he left and was played up top he did exactly what he was doing at Man City but better.

When you watch Arsenal first 3 league games its obvious where the problems lie, the exact same places they were 12 months ago! and nothing has been done. While the likes of Van Gaal and Mourinho addressed their weaknesses before and on deadline day. Our manager was in Rome refereeing a charity match!

That says it all for me.

Ozilbaggins. mate I couldn't have said it better myself. This nonsense has instantly reminded me of Wenger substituting Podolski for Sanogo after about 60 mins in the FA Cup final. Utter b*******! We will never win the league or champions league under Wenger that's the truth a cup maybe. but not the two that we covet. Sad times.

I rarely post, but I couldn't hold back on this! I am utterly disgusted that we allowed Fabregas to go to Chelsea. I agree we need strengthening elsewhere but my question is where is the £100m+ we know that Arsenal have to spend on players and that's not from the papers that's from the clubs financial report!

The talk is that Cazorla is wanted by Atletico, 22m euros being touted as the price. Why on earth we have not taken that and brought back Fab I have no idea. Cazorla to the best of my knowledge is on a 3 year deal, which means he is entering the final year this season, he has already stated he isn't sure about extending his contract with us earlier this season and bare in mind he will be 30 and we all know how that works at Arsenal. So why the hell we have not resigned Fab at 27 and we know he will not look to move elsewhere, I have no bloody clue!

Hello fellow Gooners,
Just read Cesc's comments about Ozil being second best plater at RM and it got me thinking. If Cesc does not play enough this season, he will almost certainly look to move, bearing in mind he has only said he will come back to Arsenal and the fact he said he was Happy to snub United (Which had me grinning for about 20 minutes!) if he becomes available should we be going in for him? and who would he replace on the midfield?
