Ozil is quality, it's the people around him that let him down. Look at the assists he had at real and Arsenal. It's a lot harder to get assists when its Lampost Giroud running 'through' the back line.

The difference is sanchez is actually
running to do something, like score or tackle. i'm sorry but forgetting the stats which are totally misleading what has ozil done for us this season. Sanchez has scored more goals made more assists and more tackles than ozil so the stats are telling us what. I don't think you are blind but i don't see the ozil you do. Sanchez every time for me in that race.

Steve that's a bit harsh. Ozil was fight back in the left back slot a couple of times today, did some chasing down on the keeper. All of that effort had an aim. His running is just not as noticeable as sanchez running is.

Ozil ia lazy no two ways about it. he's runs to look like he cares but people see past it. He doesn't approach someone intending to put a tackle in he does it to just get by.

Like at school I used to put my hand up just as the teacher picked someone else. I showed desire buy deep down I never wanted to be picked lol.

is there any update on allegri or any potential arsene replacement?

Its not harsh he is our most expensive player and should give the team more than he does, his efforts this year have been way below par. And his sloppyness led to the first goal and it would have been acceptable if he'd made some effort to put it right instead of puffing his cheeks.

7.) 03 Apr 2017

Ozil is no different to other players, he is lazy.

FFS You don't buy Ozil type players to tackle. He is not a natural tackler and he never will be. Just getting in the way is the best defensive stuff you get from his type of player.

If you want a hard run around tackler to play a creative number 10 role then youd probably be happy to play Cazorla at centre half.

Horse for course and Ozil will create if he has the players around him to create for.

Everyone just wants to ignore the hard stats so they can follow the myth about Ozil instead of getting their facts right.

{Ed001's Note - he did really well tracking back and covering when Bellerin got caught out of position at one point. I really do not understand the hysteria about Oezil, he does his fair share defensively. What he needs is some quality around him. I wonder why no one is complaining about Xhaka's laziness, which leads to the stupid tackles, as he would rather dive in two footed than run back ten yards. I would have far more problem with that if I was an Arsenal fan, than I would with Oezil.}

03 Apr 2017 11:49:49
Ozil has done nothing for the team this season, nothing. Except extract his wages each week. Now he's demanding more, for what!

{Ed001's Note - harsh there Steve, not his fault he has only one decent player to play alongside, in Sanchez, and the rest are donkeys like Welbeck and Walcott who have not got the intelligence to provide him with decent movement. Walcott will get away with being lazy, doing half the work of Oezil because he got a goal, but he was terrible yesterday and did nothing to help out the side other than one lucky goal.}

Ed I accept ozil is talented but to blame players around him for him not playing well is not right. Yesterday he backed out of a fifty fifty with the goal keeper, gave the ball away twice that led to the second goal without any corrective effort for his fault. He let's players run past him when being attacked too easily and when he isn't providing assists, does not chip in with goals or defensive work rate. He doesn't turn up in big games and he has been part of the decline with his drop off in perfomance levels from last season. Nearly the same players as last season with 100 mil worth of additions so no excuse for the big drop in perfomance. He is our "STAR" player and he isn't shinning bright, unlike our other star sanchez.

{Ed001's Note - I agree he did back out of a 50-50, giving the ball away twice is hardly a crime and I am sure lots of other players gave a lot more passes away but you are too busy whining at Oezil to notice that your whole team, other than Sanchez does nothing to win back the ball when they give it away. Like I said, at one point Oezil covered in the right back area when Bellerin charged forward, lost the ball, then took ages to saunter back into position.

He isn't shining because no one is offering themselves for a pass. You have donkeys running into positions he can't possibly pick them out, then you are whining at him for not pulling the impossible out of thin air. Yes he does let players past him too easily at times, yes he is not a hardman going into crunching 50-50s but he is one of only two top class players you have.

You surround quality with dog turds like Xhaka and this is the result. You have crap like Welbeck and Walcott and wonder why no one is picking out their moronic runs. Oezil is not the problem, his issues are a symptom of your crap players.

100mil of additions but how much was spent on quality in the attacking third? Most of it was wasted on the utterly crap Xhaka. Another big chunk went on a centre back, how much went on players to help Oezil and Sanchez? It says it all that you have the choice of Welbeck, Walcott, Iwobi and Giroud alongside them! Your team just isn't very good and Wenger has done well to get it anywhere near the top four places year after year.}

I agree with the comments on Walcott Ed001, but I would still be happy to ship both Walcott and Ozil out and put any proceeds towards a decent CF.

{Ed001's Note - and who would play in a 'decent cf'? Oezil is one of the best in the business at putting the ball in to places they can score from, if they make the runs.}

12.) 03 Apr 2017
03 Apr 2017 14:26:32
I think a lot of people should go by their own opinions and judgement not what the media seem to find the latest trend. Imagine replacing ozil with a bergkamp in his prime and see if people moan about his lack of tracking back or the quality of those around him making him look average.

13.) 03 Apr 2017
03 Apr 2017 15:12:59
Ozil is class. Not enough quality around him. Thought more people would have seen it by now.

14.) 03 Apr 2017
03 Apr 2017 17:06:56
Ed 001 I could have wrote your reply lol. I do agree with a lot you said. But shouldn't wenger take responsibility for the crap around ozil as you put it.

{Ed001's Note - yes, I would not dispute that he is the one at fault. His recruitment has been poor in recent years and his loyalty to players who are not good enough has never been repaid by those players.}

15.) 03 Apr 2017
03 Apr 2017 17:45:19
Ed001, couldn't agree more. Ozil did his share of tracking and covering but people aren't happybecause hasn't putting crunching tackles in.

That's just not his game so calling him out forward of effort and work is just silly

He's a Rolls Royce surrounded by Ford Focuses.

When we signed him I stupidly hoped he was the catalyst for more top drawer players. With the exception of Alexis that was wrong.

If we had a seriously good ball winner behind to break things up and give him the ball and really top notch finisher for him to set up then he would be tearing other teams apart.

I want him and Alexis to stay and kroenke to get his short arms lengthened and deep pockets shallowed out so we sign the quality we need.

Ozil is fine, the weaknesses are around him and that's the club's fault not his.

16.) 03 Apr 2017
03 Apr 2017 17:46:55
Ed 001 yes I agree. But I still think ozil can give more lol.

17.) 03 Apr 2017
03 Apr 2017 18:17:55
Steve you can't agree with Ed001 now without contradicting your original post.

Ozil is a creative player who is willing to track and cover but he will never put tackles in.

Ozil is an artist. He sees Thringstone players around him simply don't. He will never look good until he has players of the same quality around him because they aren't generally good enough to make themes of what he does.

Think before you moan mate!

03 Apr 2017 18:49:00
Yes I can sooper it was a bit of banter with the ed. He made a lot of good points which I agreed with but I still think ozil is not putting a full shift in. You do that's your opinion. I don't see the ozil of last season.

{Ed001's Note - it's ok ste, I know what you mean. You want more from him, which I can understand, even if you do think the rest of the team are also letting him down. Trouble is he is not Sanchez, he is not going to take things by the scruff of the neck and do it all himself. He is more like Pirlo, you have to build to suit him, to create a team to enhance his qualities. Unfortunately what you have right now is a team to expose his weaknesses.}

19.) 03 Apr 2017
03 Apr 2017 20:06:07
Steve you started by calling ozil lazy. Ed001 and I have explained he did his share of work. We've also explained why we won't get the best out if him until he has the right players to exploit the things he creates.

Then you say You want more from him but you don't say what else you want?

20.) 03 Apr 2017
03 Apr 2017 20:28:00
Sooper I think he's lazy, you dont. I get all the points being made but I still think he is a luxury player who only works when the whole team is on the top of its game. He has been way below the standard I would expect from him this season and that is one of many reasons we are struggling. Arsenal football club cannot afford to spend 45 mil on a class player who is not showing his class. It isn't an excuse to say he shouldn't tackle and track back because that's not his game, when it required has to. His goalshave been sporadic and his assists have been drip fed this season and that not good enough. By the way when he came I didn't get him, last season I championed him, this season is way off lasts.
