What's different than a month ago when we were buying in? Most teams lose to Liverpool over two legs (remember the ten man first leg? ) , FA exit was very poor, as poor as the draw vs Burnley, we didn't get the best young striker in the world who always wanted Juve (remember that we, by accounts, did offer a competitive package? ) , we didn't get Arthur who hasn't worked in his last two teams and is five foot nothing (remember Suarez and Ceballos and someone else I'm forgetting? ) , we didn't get Isak (yet) who, like so many, enjoys shoping in London (was a move in January on? ) ,   a clearly ailing Tomiyasu got beat by Jota for his first slip since arriving, Nuno had some shockers after very admiral performances during Tierney's injury, Sambi shows his inexperience just as often as he shows he's our current best option in the middle.

So what's the same? Xhaka does Xhaka things at the most Xhaka times. Partey shows up for one in eight games. Auba makes 300k to not hold the ball up, miss penalties, tap in goals from offside positions that were already going in, and miss chances when wr need them most.

What do we need then? Xhaka gone - thanks for the efforts, truly, but you are a liability. A midfield that plays well enough for Patino and Azeez to be weened in over the next four years. Auba off the wage bill and to stop giving 300k to 30 somethings. We need strikers to replace him and European football to attract the kind of strikers who will help us be competitive and keep Saka and co. at the club. Most importantly we need to stop acting like Piers; #TrustTheProcess when we're up at City and #ArtetaOut when it comes time for the trust part. At least it's Piers' shtick, we just look foolish.

Here's to a surprise today! If not, here's to staying healthy, paying less for deadwood and pushing on for fourth.

Piers is an absolute weapon.
