Ed, hopefully you may have some insight on this even with it being very fresh and would like to hear you opinion either way. I believe had Isak become available a few weeks back, he'd be the one Arteta would have pushed for. Do you feel with Gyokeres signed, we could still push for Isak? he could maybe play in a Henry kind of role on the left wing/ forward position?

Also I heard Eze is carrying quite a big injury which is why all his transfer links have gone quiet in comparison to a few weeks ago.

{Ed014's Note - I think it’s fair to say that whether Isak has suddenly now indicated that he wants a move, clubs could have bid at any time. Doesn’t seem that anyone, including us, had.

Depending upon who you believe, his preferred option would be us, will we have the money as he’s not going to be cheap, Newcastle have no pressing need to sell and Ekitike has now signed for Liverpool, Newcastle having failed in their £70 million bid to buy him.

I don’t know about Eze but like you say, hardly a word said about him that I’ve seen.

I’d imagine Isak would be £80+ million as a conservative guess, that would take Liverpools spending to £330 million if they are in for him. Like us they do still have players to move on. I’d imagine they’d get close to £10 million for Nunez!

United are in need of a striker but doubt he’d go there, he’s too old for Chelsea and City have Haaland.

Just can’t see us buying both to be honest mate.

A bid will be made there is headroom in the finances and availability in wages. All the arsenal decision makers want him. Liverpool may regret awakening the transfer thoughts of Isak.

The word on the street is that Newcastle believe they can hold out for £130m for Isak as they have no need to sell. He's good but that's a mad price for his injury record. Gyokeres for half seems the better deal for me if it let's us reinforce in January if required.
