Kieran Tiernay would be a great signing if we got him can play CB and LB and has played RB for scotland before.

Considering the other linked club is Leicester I'd be surprised if they priced us out. With Monreal no longer able to cope with the pace of the Premier League this would be the most exciting option. We can hope.

Odds don't mean anything. When Emery was appointed he wasn't even on most of the bookies lists of contenders for the job. If Leicester sell Maguire, for what's looking like a transfer record fee for a defender then they could easily price us out. Also, if they're interested in Tiernay then surely that depends on what happens with Chilwell? They won't be buying him as a backup that's for sure. They could match and beat any price that Arsenal offer.

I think I says a lot when we are completing with Leicester rather than Liverpool and Spurs for players in the first place, mind you having said that I wish we had competed with them for Kante Mahrez Vardy and Maguire, Leicester have actually bought very very well over the last few years although admittedly that was pre Brendan.

What does it say a lot about exactly G62? Of course we should be competing for good players, in positions we need, for prices that make sense. Why does it have to make some statement that 'we're not even as good as leicester' like you imply? Liverpool have a youth team right back, and two great performing full backs in Robertson and Gomez that they bought pretty cheaply. Now, in a system they perform in, they are worth multiple amounts above the investment. I imagine they're pretty pleased they didn't try and spend £40-£50m on Mendy, or Sandro, or whoever the agents are promoting at the time.
