Who would you guys let go at the end of the season?
Me personally if we don't qualify for the champions league i would have a major clear out and build a new team around the youngsters. It maybe drastic but with limited funds if we don't qualify we may have to sell to buy and look at long term project.

Defence- sokratis, luiz, mavopranos, kolasniac and Mustafi
Midfield- elneny, mhkytarian, xhaka, ozil if we can get some to pay his wages.
Forwards - lacazette pepe auba

The defence is self explanotary. In midfield the same, sell xhaka and get a powerhouse midfielder or two who can press players with speed. Ozil is a dilemna his wages is the elephant in the room which others will use to gauge their own new deals.
Upfront will be our big problem. Without european football it will be hard to keep auba. on one hand he will be 31 and running down his contract. Giving him 300,000 a week will be a mistake but on the other who will score our goals. ideally we keep him and helps the youngsters come through. Personally I think he will not want to be part of the long term project. lacazette is not consistent enough, we need to cash in on him. Pepe in my opinion was a panic buy. he has amazing skill but no end project, he is too lightweight. would have been better spent on zaha proven premiership player and boyhood arsenal fan who would have played his heart out.
That would leave
GK- Leno Martinez macey
Defence- Bellerin, Soares, Tierney, Maitland Niles, chambers, holding, saliba, mari
Midfield- torreira, guendozi, Ceballos (buy) , Willock, smith rowe
Wingers- Nelson, saka,
Forwards- nketiah, martinelli

We need to introduce youngsters like balogan, john Jules, medley, ballard

We will also need to add a central defender and left back, 2 midfielders a powerhouse and a playmaker, 2 forwards. Names depend on where we finish.
In my opinion the current squad are not good enough we have a lot who are going through motions and switch off Arteta needs to build his own squad and give them a fighting and winnig mentality. The youngsters have potential arteta can fine tune them.

The following should be sold or loaned:
Keepers:
Defenders:
Sokratis (12 months to go, get a fee)
Maitland-Niles
Chambers (when fit)
Midfield:
Ozil (get wages off the books)
Elneny
Mikhytarian
Forwards:
Aubameyang (if we can’t extend his contract)

I would consider:
Torreira, A tad lightweight for the PL, would like to see him depart and Partey signed.
Bellerin: Still concerns me defensively.
Kolasinac: Not convinced defensively.

Interestingly prior to Arteta I would have suggested more players to go, but the improvement under Arteta is astonishing.

To think, we have lost one league game under him, at the start of his time as manager and clean sheets have arrived!
For next season we have Saliba, whilst Mari and Cedric should be signed permanently. I would like to see us sign Partey, Ceballos permanently and a creative midfield player.

Pretty sure ( at least I would ) Saka Martinelli Tierney and others would be off as we have what amounts to a 🔥 sale. I would say totally unreasonable to replace so many and our kids are good but not that good - and the best ones would be off anyway. Surely SY and this goes back to my point the other day we give Arteta time which means transfer windows to rebuild . Just look at Fulham last year everyone went wow they spent a fortune. Now entertaining QPR! COYG.

Sussex - I’m keeping Mikel but allowing him funds and new faces to build his team and with his desired attitude. I doubt they would all be sold but I’d certainly be happy if most were. Bellerin is good but I don’t think good enough for our team - we could get good money for him and reinvest. If we keep him 👍.
I’ve put sell next to the players I don’t think are good enough for us to start challenging in epl. If we can’t upgrade due to position in league or budget then we keep the better ones on the list eg Bellerin, Torriera, Leno, Pepe ( odds are we can’t sell him ) and Laca.
We should have cleared our decks after Wenger but didn’t hence we need a decent clear out. I agree with how it could be perceived.

5.) 08 Mar 2020 10:04:42
If your talking fantasy football then anything is possible simply because it's just fantasy.
But if your talking anything close to reality I agree with Sussex 100% absolutely no way is anything like footballs greatest clear out going to happen.
Who has had a good season for us this season? Who has actually shown they can hold their own at premier league level on anything close to consistently?
Leno Saka and Auba for me and that's it with the exception of Martinelli who looks excellent but hasn't had enough starts in the premier league all the rest have looked out of their depth as often as they have flourished at times.
Forget about cup games v non premier league opponents because they are not an accurate measurement of premier league abilty.
Arteta will absolutely have to turn some current strugglers into successes if he himself is to succeed, we don't have billions and even if we deed bringing in wholesale new signings hasn't worked for other clubs in the past.

6.) 08 Mar 2020 11:23:43
I don't think a wholesale clearout would be beneficial tbh. It takes time for players to "gel" on and off the pitch and if there is a fire sale this would be evident very quickly. Obviously we need to release some players as we are far from the finished product, so I would let the followimg players seek pastures new:
PEA although I love him to bits, obvious reasons
Skodran big heart but .
Granit I'm always expecting a card when he plays
Laca I'm 50/ 50, although I think he has a bit longer on his contract so no panic
Papa again a big heart .
Although some of our senior players can be frustrating we need them to help our kids on their journeys.

7.) 08 Mar 2020 11:55:47
So I’ve can probably sell 6 max - Mustafi, Luiz, Torriera, Laca, Chambers and Özil

Give Bellerín a chance and have to stick with Pepe

Toss up between Papa and Luiz - squad player and leadership more than anything.

Arteta seems to like Granit and Ceballos. I would like a beast in there to help them out. Hence Torriera sale.

A bit more reasonable but if one left on my “sale” list - I wouldn’t be upset.

I don’t could Mikh or Elneny as a sale as out on loan to sell.

Thanks Sussex and 62 - keeping it 💯.

My take is
Leno
There would be takers if we want to sell and wed probably make a profit but who could we afford/ attract in his place? My guess same standard of keeper if we as lucky.
Belerin
Again if we want him gone I'm sure there would plenty of takers who pay fee and wages to make it happen.
Mustafi
Isn't he out of contract this summer? If Artetta wants him I'm sure he would stay.
Papa
He will probably move as Arteta obviously doesn't think him top notch
Torreira
Will most probably go for similar reasons to Papa, there will be several takers so we will probably make a profit
Auba
We shouldn't break the bank as we did with Mesut to keep him, make a fair offer and if not enough cash in.
Lacca
Will move in my opinion he needs a change.
Xhaka
Artetta like Wenger and Emery obviously see what fans and pundits don't see as he's a constant first choice, do he and his family feel welcome? I think he will leave personally.
Luis/ Ozil
Where would they go and why would they leave? Who's going to pay them what we do? Both love London. Like or loath Mesut and Luis they will be Arsenal players next season in my opinion.
Pepe
Are we going to take a huge loss? Not in my opinion, is he going to accept a huge pay cut to get away? I doubt it, as with Luis and Ozil going no where in my opinion.
Cellabos
Well he's not our player and will leave when his loan ends, he doesn't want us and I'm not sure Artetta really wants him, seems pretty straight forward to me.
Guendouzi
Not sure player and manager gel, I'm sure we would be inundated with willing buyers if he's made available, people moan about his attitude but have you watched him celebrate from the sidelines when not playing? Someone somewhere will help him become a huge name in football and France regular.

Obviously all of the above are just my own views and subject to being 100% incorrect :-)

That’s the issue 62 - we can sell good players who in most sides would be excellent but because of all our flaws are exposed. If we never want to reduce shots against us then Leno is perfect and showed that against the Hammers again. But his decision making ducks. Back on track. risk is we sell and generally poorly. Then replace with a downgrade. Liverpool after wasting Suarez money etc tend to sell well and invest well. We need a bit of that or we sell say Bellerín and get a big downgrade, disrupt team and waste money in agent fees. per above - I would like wholesale changes but not if we don’t upgrade. We must sort centrehalves out and centre midfield - Ceballos doesn’t look strong enough and needs too many touches while final pass isn’t great when it matters. Torriera is a little too light weight and hits the deck too easy. Granit thinks too slow. Matteo clearly has issues and completely lacks discipline - he’s not good enough to play an Ozil role but runs around so fans like him but also as a result gives needless possession up, waives for yellows, petulant and out of position. Leave the rest and sort those key areas of the pitch out or were doomed. Every team thinks they can score against us and we think even with a 2 goal lead - we aren’t safe.
So sell central defence and midfield - revert back to a Keown / Sol type partnership and a Petit and Vieira type partnership. If you don’t - we compromise elsewhere on pitch and will always have a soft belly. Talking to an ex-Graham centrback the other day. They trained and trained to play a straight line and put hand up in unison. They trained and trained to be able to defend and instilled leadership so Sol or Martin would boss wingbacks and central midfield if our of shape.
Question to anyone - can you imagine Lehmann or Seaman not chastising Luiz for falling asleep, Bellerín for not getting back or Matteo letting runs walk past him. It’s bull and that’s why I don’t rate defence or Leno. We don’t need British - we need leaders. If the answer is no - don't accept it today. Would GG be training the arse off the defence and central midfield - if the answer is yes. Then Mikel, earn your money bud. Love the passing demos but F that, train them to defend corners and keep shape. Mikel hasn’t addressed this issue but had ample time. Why is no one at Arsenal moaning about defensive training - we aren’t doing it. The x-GG player moaned and moaned but saw the output in trophies.
That’s why I want a clear out to remove excuses - Mike
Under lots of pressure next season as he hasn’t sorted this. How many shots did a Hammers have?

10.) 08 Mar 2020 21:49:06
No question SY we are back to where both Arsene and Emery left us, totally reliant on other teams not taking the numerous amount of chances they create in each game in order for us to get a result.
It's no basis to build on but in Mikels got to show a different Arsenal come next August because if we are still the same old buy 1 get 10 chsnces free Arsenal next September October time the fans will Stert to turn for sure.

11.) 08 Mar 2020 22:56:25
Hence I would dig deep to the squad and let him start again or we never move forward.

12.) 09 Mar 2020 07:45:29
No team can change that much players on one go and be good for the team and be successful.

{Ed047's Note - I just assumed everyone was playing football manager Moe, not that anyone believed all that was going to happen🤦‍♂️

13.) 09 Mar 2020 20:33:08
