Greetings and Salutations my fellows Gooners!

How I have missed thee :)

First and foremost I hope everyone is in good health and spirit.

It has once again been too long since I last had the pleasure of posting amongst friends.

Outside the top 4 at the hands of The Spurs, could there have been a worse script to the end of last season?

But this is why we love the beautiful game and the Greatest Football Club The World Has Ever Seen.

For tomorrow brought hope

3 on the trot to start the campaign, a solidarity amongst our supporters, a smile on the face of our players

And while it would be foolish to look too far ahead I must say it feels great to see our club come together.

From ownership investment, to strategic planning, to beautiful tactical football

Dare we dream?

No!

We've spent the past 2 decades as a club dreaming, from our philosophy of the beautiful game and the Great Man (ager) who best represent it, to the transition of Thursday Night Europa Football to the Spanish Emperor who won said Cup everywhere ironically but here, and finally to Trusting The Process of our new Commander in Chief

It's amazing to think that only 12 months ago we were 0-3

But said football is a funny game, isn't it?!?!

And as we look towards our opponents this weekend, a team we have NEVER lost to at home (24 Wins, 6 Draws, 0 Losses) can we finally stop dreaming and start believing that we are on the precipice of a new dawn.

Well, If the last 20 years of being an Arsenal supporter has taught us anything

Expect the unexpected

Arsenal 2
Fulham 2

;)

I kid, I kid, 3 and nothing less!

Blessings to all, and to all

Goodnight!

PS Ed's great jobs as always, be merciful should my stat above be incorrect :)

Malaga, how are you my friend?

Thing are well on my end, thanks for asking.

How are you feeling about the season?

3.) 26 Aug 2022 08:20:37
I’m good gunner

We’ve had a good start mate, but we need to be cautious and take it one game at a time.

Would like us to sign a quality cm and a winger.

Greetings and Salutations my fellow Gooners!

Its been much too long since we last chatted.

First and foremost I hope everyone is in good health and standing.

My sincerest apologies to all for not having reached out to say a simple hello, no excuses, I will do better, jeez don't I sound quite eerily similar to one Mr Mikel Arteta.

And isn't that in itself our initial dilemma with the greatest football club the world has ever seen.

Skeptical, angry, optimistic, confused, joyous, deflated.

One thing is for certain, Mikel has taken us thru an emotional rollercoaster this season hasn't he?

Relegation, Top 4, European Conference, the man is not boring

But I won't lie I almost pine for boring boring Arsenal to return

Because at least then we were CONSISTENT

The old adage goes "The hallmark of GREATNESS, is consistency in good behaviours"

Well Arsenal have got to be the most Consistent Inconsistent club in football today

From false dawns to false 9's let's cut to the chase, WE'RE ALL OVER THE PLACE

And what concerns me is that it appears there's a plan (Trust the process) , it appears we have fantastic young talent (youngest avg age in the league) , it appears we're willing to buy (biggest spending club in Europe last summer) , it appears we have a manager with potential (played for Arsene, trained under Pep)

But despite how it positively appears (as per the above) , doesn't it also appear that we're no further along from this time last year?

Last year we were talking about missing Europe, Ozil, deadwood, squad depth and Mr Xhakas value

This year we're talking about missing Europe, Auba, deadwood, squad depth and Mr Xhakas value

Ive started to wonder if we're simply just shuffling deck chairs on The Titanic or is the future bright.

Right now that's the conundrum, we're equal parts good and bad and it can feel like we're stagnant

But fellow friends, Gooners the future is very very bright!

We have a fantastic young nucleus!

Our transfer window last summer was brilliant, Ramsdale, Tomiyasu, White, 3 great young starters for many years to come

And I believe we will do it again this year

Top 4 was an ambitious goal at the start of the year, and I prefer to look at this blip as an opportunity for these young lads to a. Learn how to compete, and b. to stand up after adversity and move forward

And I have no doubt they will, because despite the losses there's a great sense of togetherness amongst the players and manager and that spirit is invaluable, it's the core of every winning club in any sport.

And its that same spirit that brings us together here, on the best damn Arsenal website in the world!

Look forward to connecting with all of you more often

Stay safe and be well friends!

Ed thank you for the prompt posting

And as always you are correct, as it's been 20+ years since our last league title, I meant to say that in another 2 or 3 DECADES I strongly believe we'll have the players needed to win ;)

I hope all is well :)

{Ed014's Note - and now you’ve mention prompt I’ve taken what is known as an Arsenal to reply! ?

Yes all good and hope likewise with you, we sure have had a few false dawns though, the last one with youngsters was the Wilshere, Ramsey, Walcott, Gibbs etc era.

Let’s hope these youngsters are joined by others and go on to become another team to be proud of! ??

Greetings and Salutations my fellow Gooners,

Allow me to begin by hoping that all who participate here and your loved one are healthy and doing well.

And Much better than our beloved Arsenal.

A club once marvelled upon, but like the impressiveness of The Titanic we have hit an iceberg, and the ship is going down.

Having recently watched a documentary on the above they noted that a big part of the catastrophe was the arrogance of the captain, the falsities of their rescue plan and the chaos that ensued amongst its passengers.

And I couldn't help but see the similarities with Arsenal.

A spine of the club that includes an arrogant heir to the clubs ownership, an inexperienced management team on and off the pitch, and a captain who wavers in and out of his performance and responsibility to those who whom he leads.

Is it salvageable?

Well I believe 💯 their is some wonderful talent at the club, I believe 💯 than our fanbase is passionate and will help the club through our voices and wallets, whilst encouraging those who give their best to the jersey!

But I believe that we must make changes!

The owners not leaving so that shall remain, complaining about it does no good, and for all our complaining they did invest

a. The most money in Europe

The Captain is not going to change

b. He's 32, on £350k/ week and has shown a spark of performance (against West Brom) and passion (post match City) interview

So where does that leave us?

Well for myself the obvious answer is the holy trilogy of Vinai, Edu and Mikel.

The latter two in particular have made in my estimation some incredulous gafs, for example spending £50M on White when Saliba and Mavrapanos are both young and have done well abroad.

On the books we have a dozen defenders (Tierney, Tavares, Kolisinac, Gabriel, Holding, Mari, Chambers, Bellerin, Cedric, AMN, Saliba and Mavrapanos)

I appreciate the need for depth, but our defenders are redundant and cost ineffective.

Edu and Arteta have both failed in their assessment of talent (Martinez, Willian) , their handling of transfers and contracts (Xhaka, PEA, Ozil, AMN, Saliba, etc) and ultimately the performance on the pitch has suffered from their inability as stated in addition to a lack of tactics and deployment on the pitch.

Finally, our supporters must also put their hands up and be accounted for.

All empires come to an end because of arrogance. From AFTV to Arsene Out there have been many poor examples of our fan base being entitled, while some may claim it's an afforded entitlement with the most expensive tickets in football I disagree.

The efforts to keep a club running positively require all aspects including a fan base and I candidly we are better than the division and frustration that has occurred over the past decade.

Regardless of your opinion and where you stand we are all Arsenal through and through!

On towards Norwich and I pray 3 in the bank, but a goal that begin our season would be nice!

Salutations to all.

Greetings and Salutations my fellow Gooners!

I must say Arsenal are a fascinating club!

If I didn't love them so much. one of these days I'd walk away. lol

We couldn't afford to pay Gunnersaurus during C.V. but we love to spend that money, money, money on players we don't use

From Saliba to Torreira to Willian Arsenal are just dolling that money out.

Love it!

Or I will until the most expensive seats in football or my premium sports package increase in price

The bottom line is clearly we have money, this is a £100M+ window (White, Odegaard, Ramsdale, Tavares, Sambi)

But my gut tells me that until we

A. Completely move out the deadwood in Kolisinac, Willian, Bellerin, Torreira, AMN, Nketiah, Reiss

B. Bring in the right Dein/ Wenger Combo, apologies to Edu/ Arteta

That the stench in the air over the past decade will remain.

And worse is that this negative energy will continue to linger amongst the supporters.

But allow me to preface everything.

I think we're a clearance and the right manager/ management tweak away.

We have some promising young talent, seriously I love our youngster's!

Odegaard may have not lived up to his billing as a 15 year old prodigy at RM but at 22 he fits in nicely with Saka, ESR, Martinelli, Pepe, Tierney, Gabriel, Saliba and the under 25 group

And while the question remains (and rightfully so) about "steel" in the Arsenal lineup

I feel like we're inching closer to a return to prominence, the task is now upon Arteta to own his job and unify the squad, by playing attractive football (yes it's important, it's the Arsenal way) , with a resolute defense (Also the Arsenal way or at least it used to;) , and astute tactics

Is he capable?!?!

Bring on Chelsea and City, and let's find out!

C'mon Arsenal!

Agree with all that CIB mate. I understand people are frustrated with the club and like to moan to get it off their chests, but at the same time you have to give the benefit of the doubt at the very least to the likes of Odegaard. So I appreciate your level-headed perspective.

2.) 18 Aug 2021 23:24:25
Excellent post mate.

3.) 19 Aug 2021 00:09:17
Superb post.

4.) 19 Aug 2021 00:18:17
Ultimately gentlemen we all love the club and would love to win again, but I think it's important to enjoy the journey too

Arsene spoiled us winning early and then with style, and then he frustrated us whether it was down to the stadium, his stubbornness or perhaps not having Dein as a partner

At times I believe we're an entitled fan base, we've become cynical to an extent, but seeing Brentford last week and how much a single victory in the Premier League meant to them it puts this game in perspective

Looking forward to seeing our newest additions as part of the club!

5.) 19 Aug 2021 05:25:38
Great post mate
In you we trust.

6.) 19 Aug 2021 07:37:26
Your 100% right about it being about the journey mate, we just need someone with the character to come along and unite all players and fans behind him.

Mikel reminds me of Jose, always falling out with someone and like Jose with Luke Shaw Arteta seems to take a dislike to individuals for no apparent reason, that's not good for the club or for building a united atmosphere around the club.

7.) 19 Aug 2021 08:57:53
G62, where are you getting this from that he's falling out with players?

8.) 19 Aug 2021 09:39:32
I must have slipped into an alternative universe Sharpie and in that dimension there was quite a list of players Mikel couldn't get on with, but obviously not this one of course, my mistake 👍.

9.) 19 Aug 2021 09:49:01
It was a normal question asking how you'd heard about this. Really not sure why you're making it awkward.

10.) 19 Aug 2021 09:51:50
Lads these players have not performed and Mikel is the third manager they’ve had problems with.

Do you not think it could be the players?

15 Aug 2021 23:04:08
Greetings and Salutations my fellow Gooners!

Well if that wasn't a kick in the nards I'm not sure what is.

Before the season began my thought process of positivity was based on

1. Moving out our deadwood - Torreira, AMN, Xhaka, Reiss (who I like) , Nketiah (who I also like) , Bellerin (A legend in his day) , Laaca (30+ and no contract) , Willock (opposed to selling but knew he was not favored by Arteta) , Kolisinac, and others

2. To bring in new blood in addition to Sambi, Tavares, White along with the introduction of Martinelli, a new No 10

3. Whilst the old guard Auba, Partey, Leno would lead the charges

4. For Saka and ESR to usher in a new era of Arsenal football

But what we got was a testament to a business failing to understand

A. The market place witnessed by its inability to sell its deadwood

B. That leadership of squad requires managerial experience

C. That Arsenals model of buying and selling over the past decade has been nothing short of terrible yet has failed to be addressed through experienced football hires.

Ultimately Edu and Arteta will be judged by how they close out this window and how the team responds to what I expect to be a difficult start with Chelsea and City on the horizon.

It's never a dull moment to be an Arsenal supporter

A few things I would like you see immediately

1. Tierney to be appointed as Captain. For Auba to not be healthy (not injured) and miss the start the season is not what I expect from a Captain. From his antics at Tottenham to his decline in production it's time to look internally for leadership, and while Tierney did not have his best match in Arsenal colors there is no doubting that young man's drive, make him Captain!

2. Commit to our youth. If we're going to finish mid table then let's do so by giving our valued youngster's some valued experience.

3. Be creative in tactics. We have some fantastically talented young players but our tactics do not seem to be playing to their strengths.

Finally allow me to finish this post by addressing both Mr Arteta and Edu.

I don't fault either of you for accepting the position of Manager and Technical Director for Arsenal, no one amongst us would turn down such an offer but it's becoming alarming clear that neither are YET ready for the task of rebuilding the club especially in the context of this current marketplace affected severely by C.V.

But if you're going to go down with the ship as it appears you are, then

BE BOLD!

I'd rather lose playing football then to lose being afraid to play football
