It is funny how some fans don’t rate Nketiah but same fans rated Lacazette and even wished we extended Lacazette’ contract on the basis that he is a leader and provides support to the young players.

Nketiah fully deserves his contract and I am very glad he stayed.

Hi Harrison the fact is Laca didn't despite his best efforts quite cut the mustard at top premier league level but Eddie might.

I'd rather give Eddie his chance than simply just go with what hasn't worked out for the last 6 or 7 years all over again, is Eddie good enough?

I really don't know but no matter if you spend 77 million on a new player or give a squad player his chance, it's a gamble either way.

{Ed014's Note - and if it doesn’t work out for him we now get a transfer fee rather than nothing.

We can then discuss whether it will be Balogun or Biereth who make it or not! ?

I like Eddie, he comes across well, and he always puts in a whole hearted performance and works like a Trojan, something the fans always love. However, I see him like another Welbeck, in that he also did a lot of that, but then, when he gets a golden chance to win the game in the 85th minute, he misses it. It’s a harsh position, in that the other bits should be enough, but when your playing the striker role, it’s scoring goals that count. Lacca coundnt do it, and so has rightly been allowed to move on. Eddie showed signs that he is a goal scorer at the end of last season, when he got a run of games. So he deserves another chance, but I wouldn’t bet my house on him being golden boot next season, so best if we get that high end striker as well.

Eddie sort of reminds me of a young Wrighty.

Said it weeks ago. Eddies issue is his attitude and how he relates to the fans, but as Malaga says there’s definitely Wrighty comparisons as far as attributes at this stage of his career.
But as a footballing decision it makes perfect sense to resign and I’m glad we did. He’s homegrown and like Ed says we can now get a fee rather than losing him on a free if it doesn’t work out.
In my mind the player wants to play for the club and it’s crucial that the club keep players with Arsenal DNA to grow.
On a sidenote, fans should lay off this number thing. We didn’t retire no 14, it’s there to be worn. Best of luck to the guy for aspiring to do it justice. If he’s half the player we’ll be lucky to have him so give him a break.

Agree with that Epping.

I also think he deserves a chance and maybe that run of games towards the end of the season gave the him the nudge he needed.

Do I think he will get the golden boot? No. Do I think he could get 15 goals as a number 2 to Jesus? Most certainly.

He seems to be working hard whilst on holiday and was doing sprints on the beach in Miami in his Arsenal gear ? maybe we will see the best of Eddie this season. I hope so!

Excellent point about the resale value if things don't go well for Eddie Ed014 mate I hadn't even though of that.

I totally agree with you about the shirt thing Shambo, I didn't even know it was an issue for people, that's crazy. What about the shirt numbers of Wilson Sansom Adams Oleary Brady Armstrong Wright Charlie George and of course the absolute best player to not only wear an Arsenal shirt but grace the premier league with his presence, the ultimate appitame of class on grass himself Bergkamp.

Where would it end and why on earth is it even a thing for people, personally I'd like see the Henry statute replaced with an Eddie statute to help people come to terms with past being past and live in present ?????.

{Ed014's Note - haven’t both Walcott and Aubamayang had the number 14 shirt since Henry left.

Can’t believe people are making a fuss! ?‍♂️

I know Ed014 mate, huge part of why we slipped so far behind other clubs is through trying to hang on to the past, great memories are a nice place to visit occasionally but an unhealthy place to live mate.

Kung-fu panda had it right when he said " yesterday is history and tomorrow is a mystery but today is a gift and that's why it's called the present " ???.

Ah it’s a joke fellas. Dooming the guy before he’s has an actual run in the side.
Anyone hear that we’re alledgedly close to getting a Raphina deal done?

Sussex, I can’t believe Trish gave him the job

You think he would of gone for someone with a bit of class

Like me lol.

{Ed001's Note - I regret it every day! Though not enough that I would consider you mal!}

Can you imagine it, Mark the Ed? Now that would be funny and should happen on April 1st even year for 24 hours.

I can just imagine someone posting 'top of the morning to you Ed0000, Do you think Arsenal will go for Pep when he leaves City " and the reply being " Arsenal have a manager " ???????.

{Ed001's Note - the thought of a world where mal has power terrifies me!}
