So what do we think of Matt Ryan, he looked composed today, I’d like to see him a bit more if I’m honest.

Dealt with everything that came to him, and took some brilliant balls out of the air. Can’t complain.

I think the whole team selection yesterday was right, rested a lot and got a performance out of the team, Gabriel definitely looks better with Luiz in there. I suppose the fact that Mat Ryan speaks about 400 languages helps massively as well.

It’s refreshing to have a keeper that can come for a cross and catch it. All this punching the ball away just keeps the pressure on the team.

Let’s give Ryan a run of games.

Agree Mal - good at crosses and distribution! Win win.

British keepers used to catch while European keepers have punched or palmed the ball away for as long I've been watching football.

I guess the introduction of more international players has brought about this change to the British game but I've personally always thought if your keeper catches you retain possession rather than concede corners by palming or make it 50/ 50 who picks up possession from a keeper punching.

It’s funny, but my Dad was a keeper and so was I. He taunt me that if you can get both hands to the ball, just catch it. However he also taught me that you do come to punch the ball, you do so for one reason, and always use both fists, one for the ball, and the other, most importantly, is for the strikers head!

We had a good keeper but sold him on the cheap rather than letting the shot stopper leave. Stupid move that was. He was good at crosses, decision making and very vocal.
