Just seen the most valuable club list and apparently United drip out of the top 3 and Bayern move into it and Barcelona replace Real as number 1.

Genuine question, what makes a club most valuable and one club of more value than another?

To my thinking everything that has a commercial value is only worth what someone else is prepared to pay for it.

{Ed002's Note - It is the value of fixed assets plus a multiple of annual turnover.}

Do image rights qualify as fixed assets? I'd be interested to see how much they lose when they sell Messi. I imagine it would be more than any sort of transfer fee.

{Ed002's Note - Messi is not a fixed asset.

I guess fixed assets means stadium and the value of the ground it stands on plus worldwide appeal of the club, but I don't know for sure what it entails.

{Ed002's Note - The "worldwide appeal" is not a fixed asset - it is what is referred to as "goodwill".

Players are transitionary employees and therefore not fixed assets. They’d likely be considered current assets which typically have a life span of ~5 years.
