Can anyone honestly say that we are a better team now than under Emery, and if yes, how?

More organised and better defensively over 90 minutes. We seemed to have lost a lot going forward though.

Emery finished 5th Arteta 8th and currently 10th.
How can it be better.

Obviously some people may enjoy Arsensl under Arteta more than they dus under Emery but that's personal opinion and possibly based on Arteta being an ex Arsenal player.

But if 5th wasn't good enough under Emery or Arsene then why is 8th and 10th good enough under Arteta?

It's not as though we are improving at all because last season Arsenal under Arteta averaged 1.45 points per game and now it's 1.40 per game.

He wouldn't be retained by United City Chelsea Liverpool Everton Spurs or Leicester with that record so why should he be retained by Arsenal.

I agree G62, I could get behind it if there were some positives, like the play was good to watch and we had lost games because we were unlucky or poor decisions. But we are absolutely dire to watch and we've arguably got more points than we should through luck and poor decisions.

It’s difficult to say that Arsenal finished 8th last season under Arteta because he took over after boxing day. Like i said better defensively and a better shape, we have lost something in attack. Would we be any better now with Emery in charge, impossible to say. Like would anyone other than Arteta be doing any better? that's anyones guess.

We all want something to get behind Eden mate.

Going into next season with half the fans and a large section of the players feeling negative about the Man in charge is not good.

It's not as though Arteta has been fighting an uphill battle with the fans and players since he arrived, 99% of fans and players welcomed him with open arms, backed him 100% and desperately wanted him to succeed, it's Arteta himself who has lost that overwhelming support he enjoyed for free.

My view is that Emery took Wenger's team and made it worse. Arteta took Emery's team and hasn't done much with it. You can't just say Emery finished 5th without including the fact that we lost almost every game in the final few months of his tenure and never recovered from that. The trend of our results under Emery last year would have had us relegated.

We are not better defensively, have you been watching someone else .

That's a fair comment on Emery Wire mate.

Its difficult because he only had one finish but it's hard to believe he'd have finished 5th in his second season the way he was going before being sacked.

And you are right too JG Arteta did only take over on Boxing Day but still Emery did better in his fist half season than Arteta did his plus Emery did far better in his only full season than Mikel is doing in his

What i think is for sure is after 16 months in charge Mikel is getting 1.4 points out of his Arsenal side which is 53 points over 38 games and that definitely wouldn't be acceptable at other big clubs.

Everton sign the manager we should have and were a worst team than us but are averaging 1.62 points per game. They are also better to watch. We made a mistake and need to keep standards high. Last season they were 7 points behind us, season before 16 points behind us. 14 points the season before that.

I hated emery, but we have gone completely backwards now, don’t need to explain why eyes don’t lie.
