Question for the Ed's, what could be classed as a good summer for us outgoing wise in order to try and repair last years overspending? Sorry ed002 I know you don't like talking money.

Also a side question: Would Ozil perhaps joining one of the Middle Eastern teams help

Thanks in advance.

{Ed002's Note - A good summer would be moving on Mesut Oezil, Mohamed Elneny and Matteo Guendouzi. The offers for Oezil from the Middle East do not seem to be of interest to him.}

Ed are arsenal struggling to offload Guendouzi? It seems that a month a ago Villareal were going to take him but everything has gone quiet. Perhaps Lyon?

{Ed002's Note - Yes they are struggling.}

I think this one will drag on towards the end of the window. I'm sure there will be a few cut price offers that Arsenal will seriously have to consider if they want to recoup funds or bring in more players if they don't beforehand.

{Ed047's Note - considering how good Guendouzi believes he is and that he needs to be playing at a higher level I’m amazed he wasn’t snapped up on the first day of the window. 🤦‍♂️

It’s not often a player who believes he’s that good becomes available, I think a lot of big big clubs missed a trick here.

Thanks Ed.

My thoughts exactly Ed047 and I've said the same about him since Ed002 told us his thoughts. Part of me wants there to be no interest in him whatsoever as a reality check and then maybe he'll change his attitude because he's certainly got talent. However, if we can a good fee for him then of course we should sell him. He needs to realise that he needs to earn his place in any side at any level of football.

{Ed047's Note - 100% mate, he’s backed himself into a corner and at this moment it looks like he has nowhere to go.

Arteta has said everyone starts with a new slate this season but I don’t hold much credence in that mate.

We’re once again on the cusp of sorting ourselves out but will we finally do it.

I'm genuinely surprised by the lack of interest in Guendozi, but given there is an undoubted lack of interest from potential takers and both club and player are determined to part company with each other I wouldn't be holding my breath on getting any decent money for him.
Could he be yet another Arsenal give away just to get him off our books?

I said it on here 7 weeks ago.
Gwendozey is not 30% as good as he thinks he is.
The only part of his game that can be rated above average us his ability to get between man and ball and draw soft fouls.
He is below average at heading, tackling, making key passes, tactically positioning, shooting, drawing players out of position or making incisive moves in the ball. the list goes on.
Fans on social media might believe the hype but football clubs with proper scouts and managers are aware of his many shortcomings.
He’s worth €15M at a push.

{Ed047's Note - glad I’m not the only one thinking that Shambles.

The problem isn't Guendouzi the footballer but Guendouzi the man..or to be more accurate Guendouzi the boy. However, don't give up on him, he's young and may learn, in which case he could be a very good player for Arsenal. Time will tell!

03 Sep 2020 12:55:37
I think he will be a very good player mokey, Just not for Arsenal.
He's burned his bridges at Arsenal and it's time to move on, maybe the lack of interest in him may do his personal development some good longterm. In my opinion he has abilty and anyone who's seen him on the sidelines when a sub can see his passion for the game but he needs guiding that's for sure.

I remember when he had a good game for arsenal againts the spuds half of you said he’s a future arsenal captain, now he’s because he wants to leave, Hahahah you lot make me laugh,

Your far to gracious Welsh mate, you really need to toughen up and stop keeping thinking the best of people :-)

03 Sep 2020 17:42:30
Welsh, that was before he grabbed Maupay by the throat, threw a paddy because Arteta disciplined him and that stated that his level of football is above that of the club. Come on mate.

04 Sep 2020 00:21:20
When we were struggling under Emery, Guendouzi genuinely did look like a future Arsenal captain. Big mouth on him but he was always positive with the ball and speaking up for his teammates when many others seemed to have given up. Changing your opinion based on the terrible way he's acted since and the way he hasn't added to his game as so many others have under Arteta is just reflecting reality.

I think the lad needs a massive attitude change but there is raw talent there. To early to say will be one of the best but he will be a good player if he’s willing to listen to the coaching team.
Unless it was a nice offer that would contribute greatly towards getting a key midfield target then I wouldn’t move him on. Maybe loan for a year or clean slate, see if he wants to play for us.
Remember there was a time everyone wanted Xhaka head as there was no way back for him.

04 Sep 2020 09:51:08
Changing your opinion about something or someone baaed on how people and situations have change is surely the sensible grown up thing to do rather than sticking to your original comment out of stubbornness.

04 Sep 2020 09:56:54
I thought he was ok nothing special it takes more than one game for me, same as amn I don’t see all the hype yes he can play in a few areas but that’s it, as I said he won’t start in midfield for any of the top 8 maybe 10.

04 Sep 2020 11:04:47
Yeah but some people seem to take greet pleasure in calling other people out on the things they predicted and got wrong and seem to have a problem letting them go but somehow they aren't so forthcoming in mentioning their own false claims and mistakes from the past, takes all sorts I guess.
