I voted arteta in, I am willing to give him next season and that's it.
11 Mar 2025 20:06:38
Hi Mark the vote on this page suggests a fairly even split between Arteta in and out, I personally believe if that split is reflected in by fans who attend games Arteta will walk in a heartbeat, I genuinely don't believe he will want to be a divisive figure at the club, once he feels he's lost the crowd I think he will move on very quickly.
11 Mar 2025 20:18:26
What does he need to do next season?
11 Mar 2025 20:23:41
I’m with you Mal. 1 more season with a couple of additions in the summer.
11 Mar 2025 20:52:43
Hello John mate.
I have only been to one game this season but youngest daughter and son in law are season ticket holders and they say the atmosphere this season is still good but not as good as previous 2 seasons but they say that fans are still 100% behind Mikel. Like you I feel he would not want to be counter productive figure if the fans turned against him or Stan and Josh don't give him the money to buy the crucial 2 or 3 players that we are all in agreement we need to get us over the winning line.
Take care mate.
11 Mar 2025 21:11:04
Hi Bill mate, thank you for the feedback back on how fans who attend games are feeling about Arteta.
I totaly get why the atmosphere wouldn't be quiet as positive as the previous two seasons when we were top of the table for long periods of time during those seasons but I think most fans accept the injuries to our top players have had negative effect on this seasons results and performances.
I genuinely think if we aren't right in the thick of the title race from start to finish then the crowd will probably turn on Arteta. Having said that I think Arteta is probably more disappointed than anyone is and might well walk away once the season is done regardless of what the fan's want him to do.
11 Mar 2025 23:29:36
That’s probably sensible Mal to some, but what’s he got to do next year to get another year? Champions or just compete? Get us passing forward? More than 3 shots on target? Where’s that line?
12 Mar 2025 03:45:35
Inconsequential dropped points, what a great opportunity to get the knives out.
12 Mar 2025 07:28:08
We no longer watch Arsenal v Liverpool/ City/ Chelsea games from behind the couch hoping we won't get to badly thrashed this time round, we are actually disappointed with a draw against Liverpool City and Chelsea these days.
If Arteta has done nothing else he has given us back our credibility as big club in head to head game's against other big clubs.
The 7 0 defeat at Chelsea, yearly embarrasments at Anfield and traditional humiliations against City seem a long time ago now but it's Arteta who has made us competitive again. If he walks away this summer we shouldn't forget all he has done for us by focusing solely only on the things he couldn't quite deliver for us. He will leave us in our best shape for 20 years and if he goes he should leave with his head held very high.
12 Mar 2025 11:39:42
Sy, he has to deliver one of the big trophies
Nothing less.
12 Mar 2025 13:21:24
Is champions league or Premier league trophies Mark?
To me managers at clubs like Arsenal, Liverpool City, Chelsea and United cannot be considered successful by winning the fa and league Cups alone. We are closer and more competitive now than for many long years to seeing Arsenal win a big trophy and while I totally accept no manager at a big club can live off " Jam Tomorrow " promises and potentially forever I personally think we have to have a well proven replacement in place before we ditch Arteta, unless of course he actually starts taking us backwards.
12 Mar 2025 14:20:56
Yes John.
12 Mar 2025 14:45:03
At this point I'd take the Sherpa Van Trophy!
12 Mar 2025 16:25:26
Or the Watney Cup Sparky back in the day.
12 Mar 2025 16:54:23
I watched Peterborough play Sheffield United in the Watney Cup Bill, Trevor Hockey was playing for Sheffield ?.
12 Mar 2025 16:58:47
I have to be realistic to myself Arteta has done an amazing job so far. Unfortunately this season we have had a huge injury to our starting 11, and we did not have many players that we could utilise in the positions injured in. We must not forget though this a starting point for thread and club whereas the other clubs their teams are coming to the end of their time and the rebuilding process starts for them. They say every grey cloud has a silver lining and I see the lining in the excellent players that have come forward. With the correct signings in summer (which are not down Arteta as much as we keep saying it) . If by christmas we are not favourites in all 4 then we should start looking for new Manager. If by the end of season we do not deliver at least a cup/ trophy than we look for a new manager. This does depend on injuries and ref/ var decisions going against us. If we do not get the right players in the summer than We should make a Golden Statue of Arteta and give him keys to the city.
12 Mar 2025 18:10:34
Trevor Hockey WOW that's a blast from the blast John mate.
12 Mar 2025 18:15:56
I know Bill Mate, Trevor and Tony Currie are the two players that I can remember from that night.
12 Mar 2025 18:26:58
Great footballers and great characters as well John mate.
12 Mar 2025 19:35:07
I’m with you Mal and if them the rules. I’m happy with another year. None of this second crap.
Only caveat would be if he doesn’t sign a striker, decent winger, goalie and CB cover then he should go as clearly can’t see past his own nose.
Yes 62 - he will be remembered fondly for building the team that someone else came in and put the cherry on the top to win the league. He has improved us and win the FA Cup. He won’t be remembered like one of the greats unless he wins the league - rightly so.
12 Mar 2025 19:38:56
Go tell Liverpool that change is dangerous - they’ve not looked backward and so we shouldn’t worry about a replacement but rather is our manager the right person.
It’s just another reason to no change along with number of points or we’ve improved.
That’s small club talk and we need to move like the big club we are while respecting the high values we have which means treating the manager with respect.
12 Mar 2025 20:19:38
When did Liverpool ever sack a manager for finishing 2nd Sy? Refresh my memory mate?
For finishing 6th or 8th I remember but I'm struggling to remember Liverpool sacking a manager who finished runners up the season before he was sacked. Happy for you to correct me?
12 Mar 2025 23:13:36
Liverpool have a new manager - looks to be working out just fine for them. i'm just saying don’t be afraid of chsnge.
We need to think like winners not scared of what might happen. If we change and come 3rd Vs 2nd. Who cares, if we believe he doesn’t have it in him and I don’t - take the chance. Don’t just stick with him as he’s safe for 2nd. I’d take 1st then 3rd then 2nd then 1st over 2nd every year
"You miss 100% of the shots you don't take. "
13 Mar 2025 05:25:44
Logic and reason won't get you anywhere with Sy, G62.
13 Mar 2025 06:19:31
Morning SirWenger
What’s not logical?
1. Liverpool have had different managers and done well. Why’s that difficult. Who cares if sacked or not as they found a replacement and didn’t look backward
2. I don’t think Arteta will win the league and I’m fine changing even if we bounce around in top 3 but actually win it occasionally - it better than being scared of change or the what ifs
Feels logical.
13 Mar 2025 08:03:26
Very wise advice that SW mate ?.
13 Mar 2025 09:28:15
Ah yes, the old, "throw random words out there, like illogical and unreasoned" to try and make the person you don't agree with look bad.
Maybe 14 had the right idea staying away. This is getting pathetic.
