Hi guys, I know we all were excited for this season after our summer signings and the return of Saliba.

What are your predictions/ expectations for this team. We have seen the palace away game, did it get you even more excited? Or you lost some of the excitement already?

And as we read in the media, two more incomings at least.

Wanna hear our thoughts. Leicester up next.

Agree0 Disagree0

It's a 10/ 10 start for me Harrison mate, away win at Palace 2 goals for and none against;what more could we ask?

I know some people would have possibly been a little disappointed and expected preseason performances and results in the premier league but that was never very likely to happen, once the premier league starts its all serious stuff with every team and manager desperate for points in every game

3pts from a possible 3pts what more?

{Ed014's Note - game at a time for me mate, team is young and will be gelling together with the new additions.

All about building momentum, really want Arteta to succeed with this group as for me they do have the potential to do really good things.

I want most of all, zero weakness in mentality, that will be the huge bonus.

I didn't see any of the pre-season but hearing some of you lads talk about it, and seeing the highlights, I did get quite excited.

And then the first game rolled round. Yes, we won and we didn't concede. Brilliant stuff! Chuffed to bits really. However, you could still see the lapses in concentration and some of the defensive frailties that we've seen in seasons past. Bigger and better teams would have punished us on the day.

I do think the club are trying to put together something special here. Something definitely has changed. Our transfer business does seem to be more focused than in previous years. We seem to be buying for the right positions. The lads do seem to be playing with a bit more swagger about them. So lots and lots of positives and a reason to be hopeful for the future. COYG!

3rd with a serious push for the top 2.

I think we were closer than people give us credit for last season and bar a bit of experience (player and manager) and a top striker I believe we would have chased down Chelsea.

The squad is not only improved but also a year older with a full pre-season together, and I am sure Arteta will have grown from the experience last year.

the palace performance was OK but there were not many great performances from any team in the league really, clean sheet, 2 big saves from the keeper (and some silly distribution) , and a win at a ground that was the toughest for the top 6 last season.

I'm, not as convinced as most with Tottenham's business, the biggest threat from them this season is the manager who is top top draw.

Chelsea I believe will struggle, I think they were lucky last season and the rest are not good enough.

COYG!

{Ed014's Note - nice positive post mate but I think Spurs will be a different proposition this season.

We need to see how they and ourselves fair in our first big game to be honest. They have theirs Sunday, we’ve to wait a while longer before we actually meet them in October for our first real test.

I expect Spurs to do well but if Conte doesn't extend beyond next summer it could be a different matter for them next year.

After watching the last 3 episodes of All or Nothing it becomes obvious how much team spirit plays a part in success. They really seem like a strong unit atm and our youngsters can only get better. I still think the defence will have a wobble but boy does Saliba look the real deal! Early days of course and as our back line are still young we must expect a few hiccups. As mentioned, one game at a time is the way to go I reckon.

But after all that I expect 4th :)

I'm pleased with the result at Selhurst because these are the results that tripped us up last season. It wasn't so much about beating the other big teams, Arteta showed us he is capable of this already, it was about getting those expected results instead of falling apart like we did last season.

I think that was largely due to the owners reluctance to spend in January - the rest of the team was good enough but our strikers let us down. As far as I'm concerned this was really the expected trajectory, so I'm pleased, but not surprised.

{Ed014's Note - I think Sally covered it in respect of expecting some hiccups and hopefully they’ll be minor ones whilst the grow and learn.

I think we’re all happy that things are improving and fingers crossed they continue on that trajectory as it can only mean good things.

Things have definitely changed. None more so than the atmosphere in the stadium, fans can sense we are at long last building towards something special. Investing in young players plus a young manager is the right way but can be a long road
Stopping the season for 6 weeks imo will have quite a effect on how this season pans out
For me I am looking at top four and a trophy.

As ed0014 said its going to be a game at a time this season for me. We've got some serious talent in the squad and have further complimented them with good signings. If the idea and execution comes through, i reckon we're in for a cracker of a season. As a romantic, i'd wish for nothing more than that. A hella young squad with unmeasurable potential. How can i not be giddy about the new season :)

For me the CP game left me with slightly mixed feelings. Yes it was a great result, and more importantly, we kept a clean sheet. If we keep say 10 more clean sheets this season versus last, we will be right in the mix. As in cricket, where they say batsmen win you matches, but bowlers win you titles, I think it’s similar in football. Strikers win you matches, but defence wins you titles, and so I really liked the look of our determined defence. Not so good was how we switched off in the 2nd half. This allowed CP to have good chances, and they really should have equalised, and if they had, I would like to have see how we responded, hopefully differently to last seasons opener implosion! Maybe those pre season games had got me overexcited, but I also still find a lot of our play a bit dull. Hoping with the movement Jesus gives us we will start to try and make opportunities to slip balls in behind defenders, and forcing opposition teams to drop deeper, rather than playing all our football sideways and all in front of the pressing opposition defence.

I personally think it's all about expectation if you start expecting 4 0 Chelsea wins and 6 0 Savile thrashings to transfer into premier league performances and results you are highly likely to be left disappointed but if you can manage your expectations and just accept what comes it's a lot easier to be happy with a good win at a tough place like Palace.

Anyone expecting to challenge Liverpool and City is not necessarily wrong but their expectations are sky high and less likely to be fulfilled.

It is nice to hear your views and see the positivism around, the excitement. The same way, I am very positive about this season.

My expectation is 3rd place, to push for 2nd place of course. And a trophy (Europa league? FA cup? )
