Hi guys hope you are all well and keeping cool in the lovely summer we are having. It's another season starting up my 65th! I'm sure you are as up for it as me. You get to my age and reflection is a natural as each season comes around. I got to thinking the other day about the years I've supported The Arsenal and realised I'm not a supporter smaller clubs have those. This club is part of me and my life the players I've seen. Jack Kelsey when he and all 'keepers wore a green roll neck jumper and flat cap, the most underrated player we've ever had George Eastham he was some player. Mel Charles at center half, not as good as his big brother John! Vic Groves [I think I saw him]. Then the Radford Kennedy and wee Georgie. Chippy Brady Charlie George, loved him still do. The wonderful Rocky bless him. Big Tony Adams and the best defense in England Bertie Mee's double wining team. George Graham's wining teams. The wonderful Wenger years, seeing the best ever player ever to pull on an Arsenal shirt Bergkamp, Wrighty, Perez and the amazing Henry a player that changed strikers for ever.
I remember walking up Avenall Road and Gillespie Road on Highbury's last game with my then young grandson, with tears in my eyes realising I'll never go in there again. The following season going to The Grove with my grandson just the best feeling. So many players so many I've forgotten the names of, that invincible season was just the best!
So it's not supporting, this club is part of me and I consider I'm part of it. so many memories of games I've seen, Ian Ure breaking Billy Bremmer's nose and Bremmer crying as he went off. Brady telling Souness if you can't take it don't give it out on M. O. D. Loved that Souness a hard man, not fit o clean Stories boots.
But this is a different season for me. We are off to the game on Saturday my grandson his mum, our daughter, the present Mrs Saga and myself. Sadly this will be my last visit to a live game as my health isn't as good now and it's a long journey from Blackheath over there, so it's going to be a great day it always is, going there, but tinged with a real sadness. I hope that the youngsters here in a few years time will sit down like me think over the times they've loved this special club of ours. So fellow gooners enjoy the good days and bad days [I lived thru the Billy Wright years]. Look at what I think Mikel and Edu are starting to build here and hold those memories close. Have a great season guys, I got to feeling it's a special one. COYG.

Great post Saga! Have a great day Saturday and hope your health improves enough to go again. One point though Perez in the company of Bergkamp Wrighty and Henry a bit of a stretch lol ( Sure you meant Paddy ) VTH.

27 Jul 2022 16:09:28
Emailed the club, and they said if anyone affected by rail strike, on this occasion they'll allow tickets to be passed on to family or friends, seeing as though we're all arsenal, in my eyes we're all friends ?.

{Ed014's Note - great gesture mate and another reason to be proud to be a gooner!

Brilliant post and responses, that's why I love this club. Enjoy the game Saga ⚽️.

As others have said, lovely post Saga, and although I hope your health improves and you get to see many more games at the Emirates, it’s lovely that you will be at this game with family, including your grandchild. That’s a lovely reminder that we are all just caretakers, overlooking the club during our time, calling out bad owners or practices, to preserve the club and it’s reputation not just for us, but also for those future fans, just as all those that have supported the club for the past 100 years have done for us. So I hope you all have a wonderful day.

Great Post mate.

Thanks for your good wishes everyone. Sadly as I have stage 4 Prostate Cancer I ain't liable to improve. I've done well these past 3 yrs but am struggling a tad now. But I've also got a spine issue that makes walking very difficult and that's the reason this will have to be my last trip. That said I'm hoping to do a Ray Clemence and get a few more yrs yet, he was a great ambassador for PC. In closing just a reminder to all the men reading this: get checked a regular PSA test is vital a high or low result doesn't mean you have or don't have it but an upward movement is iffy so going 4.5.6 get checked if over 65 and a PSA of 11 gives you a 50% chance of having it. Don't believe the myth it's an 'easy' cancer. More men die of PC than women die of breast cancer! So if you are going to the loo at lot. more that 2 a night get checked and keep getting checked. It may save your life. Sorry about the rant but us men generally close this out of their life Don't!

{Ed001's Note - I am so sorry to hear that saga, I hope you are around for many years to come.}

I don't need to tell you to keep fighting Saga mate because clearly you already are. I am so sorry to hear about what you're going through but from one Gooner to another I will make sure I continue to show the club the same loyalty as you have through your life so far. Wishing you all the very best mate ?⚪️.
