I feel Artetas fumbled here Eds, he’s put doubt in the players mind about his belief in him and sent him out into the arms of another club who did exactly what you said Ed and built around him.
Its all well and good now saying it was all done for the best and good of the player, but I feel it’s an indication of where Artetas weaknesses lie as a young manager trying to establish himself. He seems to try lay down the law with the wrong players and put his arm around others and there’s definitely a blind spot there with regards man management and knowing your player.
I guess the onus is on us as fans now to make the player feel the love at the club and hopefully his affiliation grows from there because there’s no doubt he’s reluctant to sign an extended deal and that would leave egg on the faces of both Edu and Arteta because he’ll thrive somewhere else no doubt.

Never knew that Ed that’s solid info. makes me wonder why his reps are leaking info about seeking moves elsewhere so often, granted they obviously feel dissatisfied with handling up to now.
And I know they have to play the game to get better deals but if your at the club you supported, your making statements personally about coming back and staking your claim then maybe it’s time to just let your football do the talking and tell your reps to keep it quiet for a bit.

If he's playing in the friendlies it's a positive sign, that Artera is capable of picking him and hopefully there might be a way he can stay.
Never has the Arsenal saying of an existing player being like a new signing been more appropriat, in fact I think it would actually be the first time was ever genuinely appropriate ????.
