Tbh people I am not broken hearted over Raphina, could be a player that is made to look better in a a side that has struggled, no offence to Leeds.
Plus I like players with passion but the way he reacted towards the ref and had to pulled away by his teamates when Ayling got his thoroughly warranted red at the Emirates is not the sort of passion and spirit we need.

As Sussex said on a previous post, he is a good player, and I still wouldn’t be upset if he came, but ultimately he played on the right wing for Leeds, exactly the same position as Saka, so either he or Saka would have to switch, not ideal, or worse, we are thinking of cashing in on Saka once we have all our signings made, which is even less ideal. If we’re going to outlay 60m for a player in the premiership, I would prefer a central midfielder, or at a push, a winger who plays on the left as a first choice.

Epping I have a feeling Saka won’t be an Arsenal player come next season.

29 Jun 2022 17:50:38
Yeah I never understood why we were looking for a high profile right winger when we had Saka already, that seemed weird to me.

Yeah John mate.

I really hope you are wrong Mal, but like you, I have a feeling in my water that he will go. We have made a lot of signings, spending a lot of cash in the process, and at some point you need to pay the ferryman.

Utter waste of money Raphinha would be.
He’s a decent player, but £60m+ when he patently doesn’t want to be here?
We have Saka.
We have Pépé - who I still think has a future at Arsenal if only - somehow - he can get self belief coupled with consistency.
I’d rather we spent money on a decent holding midfielder to replace Xhaka, plus a left back (KT simply too injury prone) and a back up right back. Or, another striker to support Jesus.

{Ed014's Note - have to agree with you on that mate.

There’s still possible money to be made from Bellerin, Mari and AMN who were all back for the first day of training today.

I think Saka has 2 years left on his contract

If he won’t sign a new one now, get rid off him

No more player power.

Add Leno and Torreira to that list as well Ed. Also, should we now have 60m to spend elsewhere, would we be laughed out of London if we offered that to West Ham for Declan Rice?

{Ed014's Note - I imagine we would mate, they’ll want a fair few more pennies than that.

Guess we could chuck, Leno, Bellerin, AMN and Torriera into that offer too! ?

IF Saka was to go then it would need to be for an absolutely huge fee and to one of Liverpool City Barcelona or Real, if the club let him go to cheap the fans would be outraged and if Saka swapped Arsenal for anything less than Liverpool City Barcelona or Real he would be less popular than Ashley Cole with most Arsenal fans.

100m to Liverpool or City and most would be disappointed but understand his and the clubs reasoning.

{Ed014's Note - I really don’t see him leaving yet

29 Jun 2022 22:26:57
Agree Ed

Saka won’t be going ……. just yet.

29 Jun 2022 21:29:02
Me neither Ed014 but I must confess the wanting Raphina did pose the question in my head, mind you there is a lot of weird stuff in my head ???.

{Ed014's Note - ?? and that’s if we really were ever in for Raphina and if so wouldn’t he simply be a Pepe replacement.

Saka is a little more versatile re positions he plays too.

£100 million for grealish. Saka younger with much more talent. It would be an eye watering amount for a club to pay to get him. Don’t think anyone is in the position to afford him.
